Hello,
I recently became a u.s. citizen in March 5th. I had applied for passport and I have expedited my passport so that I can be with my wife. She has been living alone for 5 years now. We have been documentarily approved since January 2020. I just recently asked my boss if I can travel to india to be with my wife since she is alone. My boss replied that the company does not allow remote work offshore and this is against corporate policy irregardless of employees situation. My wife cannot live alone anymore and she cannot risk living in someone else’s house during Covid.
If I leave my job, I will face extreme financial hardship. I have a house for $650k and my monthly mortgage is $3.4K. By losing this job, I will ultimately burn through my funds while risking a default on my loan and my home could be seized by the bank. I have bought the house with my brother but he alone cannot afford the mortgage on his salary if I lose this job. On this grounds, could I expedite my wife’s case? If I leave to support her, I will lose my job and fear losing my house. This has caused me terrible anxiety and I am medication to deal with the stress.
not sure about the criteria for expedite.
I think India allows DCF. You can move to India for few months.
You can rent your house while you are gone. That should cover rent.
Your wife can live with your parents or her parents while her visa get processed (If you are filing CR1 or IR1).

I have a friend who has a green card , but left the country and has been away for 9 years due to family issues and they couldn't adapt to life in America, her green card will be expired in March. Can she come back before the expiration day and renew it in order to live in America once again?
14 minutes ago, Lil bear said:Residency is considered abandoned if the LPR is out if the US for over 2 years Technically your friend can board a flight with the green card but when asked by CBP “ how long have you been out of the country?”… thats when things will start to become very very difficult
Is the green card yet valid?

I had my interview this morning in Denver. AND I GOT APPROVED AND HAD THE OATH CEREMONY AS WELL. I can't tell you guys the emotions that are going through my mind and body at this moment. I kind of cried in front of the officer, and she was beaming.
Once I came out, I cried all the way home. I couldn't believe that we are done with this process and couldn't believe how arduous this whole journey had been. We cried, laughed and cried all the way back home today. I was able to secure an appointment for a passport for Jan 5th. So, finally, we are done with the immigration process.
Thank you all for all the kind words and support. VJ has been a fantastic resource. -

called them. They said case is still under normal processing time.
The whole message was - KEEP Waiting -

I shared not long ago: simply dial and say "reschedule," as if you're trying to reschedule an interview or appointment.
They will connect you to a human.
Their excessive automation sucks... but hey, it is what it is. Let us know if it worked so others can take advantage.
All best,
UnaMexicana
yup - reschedule worked. Have to say that couple of time but i got through to speak to an agent.
It was 90min hold - -
how do you get through the automated system?
tried everything and it keeps on hanging up on me. -
You got to get your wife join this forum if you really need people to guide you .
Hearing from you - it seems tough road ahead.
-
Give us some more info:
- How did your wife get her US Citizenship? Was she a US Citizen by birth, or Was it via her Ex-husband?
- What is her ethnicity? Is she Moroccan?
- Is there any age gap?
- Does she have children? If so, what's their age?
- Is this your 1st marriage?
- How many times in the past did you meet her? Was this 1st visit?
- How long did you know her before marrying her?
Morocco is one tough embassy. The more info you provide, the better folks can help

The least i want is to make you freak out. Just stay on top of them and make sure you check frequently in your online tool if you filed online.
They actually just called me and said they do not see any cancellation, and that there was never an interview. The officer that called me back did say that in the system they see that on June 25, 2021 I was placed in queue for an interview date.
Confusing, I know. At least we know that there was no interview for which no notice was generated. What a way to throw us off, huh?
Cheers,
UnaMexicana
Wow.. Glad they called you and clarified.
BTW HOW did you get to speak to an officer? I have tried and the automated system hangs up on me. -

Hello VJers...
I am so frustrated today. As you know, I filed online and am waiting on SFR office. Timeline is below for further info.
This is a rant. So allow me to indulge and if not allowed, please feel free to remove.
I have heard crickets from USCIS since my biometric appt in early May '21.
I received a notification on my email that an action had been taken on my case on 6/25/21, but when I clicked on it nothing happened and nothing showed on my online tool. I just let it be, and believe I even posted a hopeful message here about it, not thinking anything much of it but USCIS being glitchy USCIS as per usual.
Later, as months passed and I still had heard nothing, I called in August to place an inquiry about my case. Well, today I received an email reply, which I transcribe here:
I don't know why I expected any different from them but a canned reply... It is infuriating to read that an interview was cancelled and IF you're rescheduled, you'll know.
Well, clearly there is nothing in my online tool about the interview scheduling and cancellation, nor there was ever anything in my mailbox. So, how am I to trust that I'll get an interview notice? I am getting flashbacks from the i-130 process and CR1 all over again. At least this time my husband did not pay thousands of dollars to an attorney for a paralegal to mess up every darn step of the way. This time around it is all DIY, per my decision.
So, I called them and after 59 minutes of hold, a tier 1 representative listened to my concerns, proceeded to type on her end/look for notes/do whatever and after being quiet for a while said "well, you're back to waiting..." then provided me with the same Item Number (inquiry tracking #) as the one I filed in August.
I asked if she was going to move forward with my request to have tier 2 figure out what is going on... to which she replied the same number had to be reopened because thirty days have not passed from the email I received.
I am not sure if she/they will actually do anything... but her dismissive attitude got to me this time. I am usually very calm and patient when it comes to dealing with USCIS (a dog learns from the beatings)... but this time I just wanted to say something back. I can't believe we have no way of knowing, that nobody can tell us why the interview is cancelled--that we just have to, as she said "go back to waiting."
I apologize for the rant, I am just sharing in case that this is helpful to anyone out there, especially those waiting at SFR.
I am back to waiting... and honestly do not care anymore about this. I am just going through the motions at this point.
Still, wishing you all the very best and hoping everyone waiting hears good news soon.
Hugs,
UnaMexicana
Holy . That is insane. Now i am freaking out as I have not heard anything from them since Feb.

Few options:
- Not sure if you can ask help from family. They can if they live in US
- If you have assets here in US that should help.
- Move back and get a new job.
AOS is very sensitive issue and strangers won't help.

For those of you who haven't been called for interview, add some random document under your submission. It seems to be a trick. I told someone to add one and 2 days later, interview. This is the newest trick, I believe.
Let's see if this trick works. I just added few documents.
Will keep you all posted- Timona, madisonsquare and ramwho

I know of an April 2020 filer from Sacramento who last week just got a notice to go for interview May 25th, I think. So it may be fair to say Sacramento is working on April 2020 files
Waiting to hear how it went.
The sun is out in Denver. Time for them to down tools and get tans. Lol
Sun is definitely not out in Denver

What's up with Denver? Any news of anyone from July getting any interview.

You mean to say you have no family from her side or your side in India.
Even if you get expedite approved, i don't think it will be any quicker than 9-10 months. Consider COVID delay in processing time
