  1. we also don't mail each other. we use skype and viber. can you suggest how to save the chat messages. can I take a screenshot of them and save as a picture file? How do you have a back up of whatsapp messages?

Yeah you can do that, or I think Skype saves conversations for up to 90 days as well.. I would print them out every few days or like every week.

I email myself the whatsapp conversation daily after we're done talking for the day. I use Tango for the voice/video chat and it shows the date, time and the length of the call. I'll print that out as well.

I think these things will be asked of the beneficiary, so I'll just have a packet ready and send it to my husband before his interview date comes.

One of my cousin's had 4000 pages of viber conversations.

Hi all!! Im in the us and my husband is in the DR. We got our NOA1 May 06 from the Vermont processing center. Heres to hoping for a fast NOA2 :)

Awesome! I'm also at Vermont and my PD is May 5th.

  2. what else can we do while we wait for the approval letter?

Pretty much just wait. I save my conversations with my husband. We hardly email, mostly use chat apps like whatsapp so I feel it might be important to keep a backup of them for when they ask during the interview process.

I've also pretty much just been reading a lot on the documents required at every step. I don't think you can get the police certificate or medical examination done ahead of time so there's not much to do for now.

    What's your priority date?

  3. I sent in all my documents in two portfolio like files with a clear cover. At the front I had our I130 forms and communication form etc, and then behind that was a table of contents page that listed everything with a separate tab and had details of what was behind each tab.

Behind one tab I had birth certificates, passport pictures and copies, and marriage certificate. Identification documents. Another tab represented co-mingling of financial affairs and had bank statements going back to 2007 (only included a few statements over the years) showing we share our finances and have for quite some time. I included bank loan for our house and a payslip for both of us that was deposited into a shared bank account. I also showed paperwork where we built our house and both signed documents back in 2010.

Another tab showed trips we have taken since 2006. We have been to usa 3 times, japan once, Thailand once and I included itineraries and travel insurance for some of the trips.

Another tab included 3 affidavits from a family member, and two friends.

And last I included a tab followed by pictures with dates and brief details of the picture. Some were from our wedding in January 2012, others were from holidays we have taken, and family gatherings here in Australia and USA.

I have paid the AoS fee last night so now I am waiting on that to be processed.

But isn't most of the stuff needed for after the approval letter comes? Because most of the documents you sent in are required for NVC.. So I'm just wondering if sending it in early helps the process move quicker? Do all the documents you sent in get transferred to NVC along as well?

  4. Hello everyone, I hope you're all well.

    In order to stop myself from venting spleen or using VJ as an opportunity to rant (rather than help others), which I seem to have been falling into the trap of recently, I've started a blog to help chronicle the journey to eventual citizenship with my own personal thoughts and feelings. It can be found here;

    Happy reading!

Wonderful Idea! Thanks for that, I'll surely keep myself busy reading it. Anything to distract myself. :)

  5. I know exactly how you feel.

The authority I work for announced that they were going to restructure back in May, and as such, offered voluntary redundancies. I jumped at the chance to join my wife with a good payoff. We filed back in May. From the timelines given by USCIS, I calculated I'd be there by December. I accepted the redundancy which comes into effect in September.

Then I joined VisaJourney and became a little bit wiser about delays, and DACA. So essentially, I'll be out of a good job in September with no idea of when I'll be able to leave. I have to go and live with my mother in Wales and try and find some part time casual work to keep things ticking over... But I don't know whether that's possible because she lives in the middle if nowhere. The instability scares me. I call my wife every day and we talk about what kind of house we'll have together; and then immediately stop looking at listings when we realise, for the millionth time, that we might have to wait another year until we can do it. We've already waited five to be together. She's worth it; but, I'm finding it tough. I did post a lot here but I've been avoiding it recently, I just didn't want to find out about any more bad news. I logged in today as I missed talking to a few of my friends, and helping others on this thread; the first thing I saw was a post about DACA expansion. It's extremely upsetting.

Exactly! My husband is a doctor and he's finished his residency. Submitting his thesis in a month. He is confused if he should take up a job with a hospital right now or wait because the hospital he did his residency at is very busy and don't allow time off in between except the weekends. So if during this time, he has to go to embassy or something, it will become difficult. Plus the embassy is five hrs of drive from where he lives. So it's not that easy to take one day off and hope everything just gets done.

Just keep yourself strong. I do the same thing with my husband in regards to the house talk, etc.. One minute of excitement and then you realize there's still time to decide.

What's your priority date? Mine is may 5th.

  6. I called USCIS yesterday just to make sure there wasn't anything missing because I didn't want to receive a letter saying there's a checklist and delay the process even more. I was told that even though my center is Vermont and they have a 5 month processing time, I should keep checking online as a lot of them are getting approved within three months time.

I was just looking at the timeline processing dates and yesterday it was saying April 12th for Vermont and now it's saying April 2nd. How is that possible for them to be going backwards? Or is it how this site is set up that whenever people update, it shows that particular date instead of the most recent date?

  7. Hi all!

I filed for my husband and got the PD of may 5th. Mine went to Vermont center and I've heard that they're processing rather quickly. A friend of mine got her approval letter 3 months after she filed.

I have been checking the Timelines for a while (even though I have never posted here!), it seems that Vermont I'd processing second week of April,2014 petitions now. How accurate are the timeline dates? Can one get hopeful?

Also, what is required of the next step? I've read people getting a package together for NVC, what sort of information is needed? Perhaps I can start getting that together while waiting.

Good luck to all of you waiting as well. This has been indeed a test of patience for my husband and I. :)
