  1. My lawyer says it has been taking 8 months to get NOA2.. but i have seen so many people recieving it much sooner!.. my case is at vermont and uscis said should be by october 6.. who to believe?!.. confused -_-.. lol

Yeah USCIS is saying that based on the 5 month time frame they give. Many people are getting it much sooner. A friend of mine got it in three months at Vermont. So anything is possible.

  2. The customer service don't have any idea and just tells you to wait for 3 more months. how can i talk to their supervisor?

You have to ask the customer service rep to connect you to the supervisor as you'd like to speak to them. Ask them what the current time is for case approved. I know for sure that Vermont is 5 months but I know lots of people who have been getting approved within 3-4 months. My PD is May 5th and last week I was told my time of approval would be by October but already end of April, beginning of May are being looked at so it won't be too long, I'm sure.

  3. Hello VJ Family! I and my wife no longer want the service of our lawyers anymore and we are almost at the end of our case, the checklist that we got from the NVC was they needed the original of the following documents POLICE CERTIFICATE, BIRTH CERTIFICATE, MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE, but I want to know if it is necessary to inform them about moving on by ourself or just move on? Thanks for the advice in advance.

I would call and let them know their services aren't needed anymore.

  4. I noticed that nvc takes a month to response to everything u sent to them. We submitted our aos last friday does that mean i will get my iv invoice 30 days after last friday? And my case will complete by november if it always takes a month for them to response at everything u sent them:

A lot of people have got notice saying it's now taking 60 days instead of 30.

  5. I had question regarding passport pickup. My wife had her interview last week and she has been issued a visa according to to the status on CEAC website. Where does she pick up the passport? I assume that she will get a call and be told where to go and when. If answer is already somewhere on the forums, pls direct or provide any information if known.

    Thanks

The passport has to be picked up from the airport embassy/consulate she had her interview at. Her interviewing officer should have told her when and where to pick it up from.

  6. Hi all,

I posted this question before but did not get any suggestions. Can anyone please share your thoughts.

I had hired an immigration attorney to file my I130. My I130 is approved and I have decided to fire my attorney and do the nvc stage myself. Can you please advise what documents do I need to get from my ex attorney and How can I change the name of agent in DS 261. After reading the wiki on nvc stage it looks like if you had an attorney for I130 the DS 261 is bypassed. in that case how would I go about filling out the DS261 if I want to handle nvc stage myself.

Are you not able to change agents on the online system? I would call NVC and tell them you want to do this yourself and not through your attorney anymore.

  7. Ours got expedited from uscis under Humanitarian reason. We had a typhoon and my husband requested that hes so worried about me. Im from philippines. Its not about the typhoon haiyan. Just some light typhoon

All Phillipines cases are being expedited due to the typhoon. I think regardless of which one, they're just getting those cases done.

Ok. I found an update on the US CBS website earlier that stated they allowed expedited requests right because of the Ebola outbreak so I wondered if it's worth my time to at least make the request. Would it hurt my case to request it?

Is the outbreak in your area? I think they'll want some kind of proof for it.

  8. Hello Vjers,

So my wife and I are currently filling our I-864 for the NVC stage and I have a few questions concerning the maintaining/reestablishing US domicile. She is the petitioner and has been living in France with me for just over a year now. We do not currently own or rent a place in the US. We still have a valid US address where we get our mail as we used to live with her mom. We are unsure of what to do regarding part 4 of the I 864 form. She still has a valid US drivers license, we have a US bank account and still actively use it, we own a US credit card and pay a monthly bill on it. She also filed her US taxes this year. Unfortunately that's pretty much it. So my question is, what should we put for Sponsor's mailing address and place of residence? What about country of domicile? Could we put our french address in place of residence but USA as her country of domicile? What would you guys advise us to do? Maintaining or re-establishing? Fortunately, I don't think the US consulate in France is very picky and harsh about the whole domicile thing but we still wanna make sure everything will go smoothly.

Thanks for your help, as always :)

I would call the consulate and/or NVC to get an exact answer with reference to it online. This is a situation where you don't want to take a chance and then have it be denied and have to wait longer. I wouldn't take such risk.

  9. I believe I read somewhere on USCIS site that they do return the originals on certain key documents like birth certificate.

Let me search and look for that link.

It's a hassle to send that back to him...if it's not too much hassle,

it might be worth him getting another certified copy made and

    bring that to the interview.

These are important documents that is often asked in many situations.

Just my 2 cents on this...

Actually that's the issue. My husband is born in Saudi Arabia but lives in Pakistan. Getting another copy of the birth certificate would be nearly impossible. So I'll send copies to NVC since they accept them.

I'm afraid to mail the BC as mail getting lost is very common in Pakistan. It's not worth it.

    Thanks for your help. :)

  10. It is really really hard. My husband and I knew it would be hard and I personally feel that I've been the stronger one and keeping him cheered up. Fortunately, we both lead busy lives as well due to our careers but we make it a point to spend 4-5 hours chatting with each other daily. Due to our time difference (he's in Pakistan), I make sure to make time as much as I can before he sleeps. We laugh, talk about our day, share all sorts of worldly gossip as well as do mock shopping online. We are constantly sharing comics and memes with each other.

Just have to stay strong. I just keep telling myself that it's all worth it at the end. I can understand it's not easy to go visit another country, I'm sure but do whatever you can. My birthday as well as our anniversary will be coming soon and I'm praying that we're at least together for the anniversary.

Oh another fun activity you can do is take him out with you. Like I Skype with him and I'll drive to the beach near my house and just sit there and chat. Makes me feel like he's there with me at the beach.

    Stay strong!

  11. May 29th. You?

Im at the very end of may! Hoping for an approval by the middle of September.

I would guess that ppl who need more evidence send in would be placed in the back and us keep moving forward.

May 5th. Yeah that's what makes sense, let's see. Though USCIS last week told me my 5 months would be October so expect it then but I know many people have gotten it earlier. A friend of mine got her approval letter after 3 months.

  12. Hello All.

How is the situation in Pakistan as I am leaving today for my wife's interview. we both will be present to ISL embassy on Tuesday 19th 2014 , The situation in Pakistan is getting worst,

let me know what is the possibility if the embassy will be opened or closed ?

    Thanks

    TA

I doubt the embassy will be open for next couple of days. The rallies have just started reaching Islamabad today and God only knows when things will settle. I would call up the embassy first to see if they're open and conducting interviews.

  13. "Oh well, we'll just file again, pay the fees again, hope it goes better this time" - ? Remarkably relaxed attitude. ...but if you've gotten responses for the first set of filings, you're gonna need to get that taken care of, pulled, revoked, or whatever, before you file again.

Exactly what I was thinking. I would be creating a hovac if they'd lost my file. This isn't a joke..
