  1. If you haven't sent them before:

    - Paystubs and a letter from employer stating how much they make

    - Proof of US citizenship or greencard holder status, and proof they reside in the USA

    - If you are doing the I-864A as opposed to the I-864, proof you are in the same financial household (which is NOT the same as just living together).

what if the cosponsor is retired ? will tax return and bank account be enough ?

  2. Lawyers will not take your case either.

I was lucky enough to reach petitioner #1 and convince him to submit a signed notarized letter to the USCIS and to me. Otherwise I would be here sharing a detailed story and hoping for guidance.
Instead I am offering the little info I have, because during my search for help I found little or no info.

is it enough to send a letter to USCIS,or you have to show a copy in the interview ? does the USCIS update the embassy about withdrawing old petition ? also does it have to be notarized ?

  3. You're 100% correct. I spent over 5 hrs on 3 visits to 2 different USCIS offices and both did and said the same thing. They acknowledged and AGREED that everything i said, produced and referred to in their own guidelines was correct, but maintained that they would not remove the petition under any circumstances including the death of the other petitioner unless I could produce a copy of his death certificate and an explanation as to why even then they should withdraw the old petition.
I was just fortunate that I was able to finally reach the old petitioner and get a notarized withdrawal letter directly from him in addition to having him send the letter to the USCIS himself.
I am only sharing so other couples don't waste time arguing the rule. It is pointless when the rule making authorities will not enforce or apply simple timelines or expiration dates.

is there anyway some one can know or track old petition to see if it's still active or withdrawn ?

  4. the petitioner ex husband died - or so she believe- since he was missing for so many years , and for some reason she never got his death certificate.the reason she tell is because he had different names or whatever.she can not still get one ,so she says she can get a paper that states that she is single to the best of her knowledge and she says it's formal and she has used it when filing taxes to prove she is single mother.

    SO my questions are :

    1) is that a common thing; to not be able to get a death certificate for some one ?especially when he was your husband ?

    2) can you use this paper instead of the death certificate when filing for k1 ?

  5. I’m a permanent resident of US since July 2015, looking for a legal way to transfer around 600K Egyptian pound from Egypt to US which I got after selling a home in Egypt

Due to the current circumstances in Egypt,

1st I need a LEGAL way to exchange this money to USD.

2nd to transfer the money from Egypt to USA.

    Thanks

as far i know ,there's no legal way right now to buy this big amount of dollars.your only bet is the black market .

also i believe -even if you exchanged them to USD- its way harder to transfer those money out of the country right now. but if you have account in any egyptian bank ,try to ask them.

another idea, if you could exchange them ,let any one coming to the states that you trust to bring them (10.000 USD for each passenger ). its not the best option but you dont have many options anyway.

another idea, see if you can buy gold worth of the egyptian money and get it shipped to you then sell the gold there.

  6. The sentence above appears to apply to foreigners in Egypt, not Egyptian citizens. Also, it talks about recognition of marriage by the Egyptian government (for foreigners), not how USCIS recognizes a marriage. In any case, a religious ceremony is still treated as marriage by USCIS.

Also, isn't the only way to terminate "katb el ketab" is through a divorce? Meaning that it is legal marriage.

The USCIS didnt recognize it as marriage ,and approved their case.

Terminating katb el ketab can be done through oral divorce ,since its already not a legal marriage,so won't be the divorce.

  7. thing's are different in Egypt.

what they did is called Orfi marriage. it's not legal in Egypt until you take it to the courthouse .

i've passed over a review of some one's interview on here last year, and the couples told the CO that they did the orfi ,so they can be halal together, and they got approved.

they still have a chance .
