Same here! We see the end of the tunnel! Yes, I got my letter this morning. My interview is on October 29. I'm a little disappointed I won't be able to vote in the mid-terms but I'll be ready for 2020!

Got my 18-month extension letter yesterday.

Had my biometrics done last Monday. Easy peasy, too about 10 minutes from "fill out this form" to the door.

I hope it isn't too long before the interview is scheduled. I want to vote in November.

That would be great! I saw a thread of a gal whose husband started N-400 in March in Spokane and was finished in four months. That's what I'm hoping for.

I filed online last Sunday and first thing this morning I had an email notifying me my biometrics appointment has been scheduled. I still don't know when. It takes them a few days to post the letter. 

I feel like things are going to move quickly because we have a local office and I'm not sure it's really all that busy.

I got my transfer notice three hours before my Infopass appointment. They can take another six months now for all I care. This system is such baloney.

Correct me if I'm reading it wrong. I need to improve my reading comprehension lol. 

 

However, it doesn't specify when they'll send the new I-767 for us, and I don't expect them to mail it to me shortly. (by the way I found that they recalled EAD cards too LOL what the heck are they doing). If you need the extension soon, it's probably faster to get the passport stamped. That's what I'm going to do as some company is holding an offer because of my semi-expired PR status.

I had read there would be second extension letters sent but I guess that's only for investors' visas.

I had my biometrics scheduled right away. That's been done for quite some time.

It is going to be a long wait. I just got off the phone with CIS and the agent told me they are currently processing applications dated June 9, 2016.

NOA-1 received today. Hoping this goes smoothly. Green Card expires in June.

I got my taxes in the mail well before the April 30 deadline. The status in my online account has been sitting at "received" for months. Last year, my mail-in return was processed and paid out by mid-July.

But now I'm an international account so things take a long time. I just got off the phone with a CRA rep and she said "officially" my tax return was received on July 16 and international accounts can take up to 16 weeks to process.

Sigh ... just that much longer I have to keep my stupid RBC accounts open.

Ive never even been further east than Montreal and before that, Toronto. Interesting how proud everyone is of their region.

Yep, being from Halifax I've mostly heard that they're a Maritime thing. Although a KOD popped up briefly in Calgary last month, according to my siblings there was a line of over 100 people for it..not surprised! If anyone here is from Halifax/Dartmouth I really miss the donair poutine from Alexandras.

Yep haven never been to the Canadian North East (closest I've been was Maine) and never been in Alberta (Closest being is Montanta) that would explain why I've never heard or seen them before. I thought the North East was more about lobster and crabs than a sweet beef type of dish?

Oh wow! Well, in Nova Scotia/Newfoundland most people I know refer to lobster and crab as "poor people food"...it comes from a time where there wasn't much money, but a lot of fisherman. So most families survived on lobster, crab..so a lot of people equate it with poverty in the region. Those who see it as a specialty item also see the huge price tags. It's a lot cheaper to buy lobster, etc anywhere else but the Atlantic provinces.

Haha ... yep. My neighbour was a lobster fisherman and he would leave a bucket of live lobster on a back doorstep at the end of the sales day. We got what he didn't sell.

It's a luxury everywhere else I go.

Funny thing ... if you ever go to Red Lobster (and please don't judge me for having gone, my in-laws love the evil place), the servers will break your lobster up for you. I said to our server "don't you dare touch my lobster, you'll steal half the fun of eating it!"

OK, so I think I figured out the NR4 thing. I was advised by TurboTax tax experts (I use the term "expert" loosely) to file the disbursement under the Canadian Registered Pension Income of the Retirement Plans and Social Security.

Then I opened Form 1116 to claim the Foreign Tax Credit. Under that, I filed the NR4 as passive income, since it didn't qualify as a lump-sum disbursement (even though that's exactly what it is).

If I'm wrong, I guess I get audited. I'm taking the chance. Yikes!
