  1. Now doing an extension no problem you can file that and have that with your I-864 just have your 2014 W2 no problem.

I would not be filing a ITIN when his arrival is forthcoming thats a waste of time. He will have a SS before a ITIN. it can takes months to get all that done. Just file the extension and once he is here then you can get all your previous years since you married and amend your taxes ( i know someone just did it husband just got here she amended the last 4 years got s good cash payday).

You can go to TurboTax and file extension For free print the extension paper and have that with your new updated I-864 and have that for interview. (have W2 with all this at interview and most recent Pay stub also).

    Excellent, thank you so much!!

  2. WOW you aren't going to have your 2014 taxes done for interview. Okay thats on you. Well at least have your 2014 W2 with you than most current pay stub also.

Hey DWheels76 - BTW you do a fabulous job of moderating, I never said it before, but have always thought it. :)

I have a similar situation. My husbands interview is before the April 15th deadline and I am planning on doing an extension because I need an ITIN for him.

The rules on ITIN have changed so much that at this point in our visa process it's hard to start the ITIN process simultaneously. New rules say he needs to apply for the number himself and submit his original passport. We really don't want to do that because, God willing, he will need his passport for the interview and visa stamp.

Do you think proof of filing an extension should be ok? Should I also get an updated employment letter and pay stubs for current salary info? Sorry this is my first time hearing that we need updated salary info. I thought that he only needed the Employment letter and stubs that we submitted to NVC. But now that I think about it, since we won't have a 2014 Tax return we should give them an update. hmmm.

Your advice is truly appreciate :)

  3. Sabid,

I'm so sorry hear about that. It's really a gamble and I hated it.

    My options were:

Option (1) Wait for 42 days for the supervisor to review it, result would be

(1a) accepted and case complete or

(1b) rejected and then get an Urdu Nikkah Nama and send it in, wait 60 days (total wait of 102 days)

Option (2) Don't wait for supervisor review, instead Wait 60 days after Getting an Urdu Nikkah Nama send it in,

    result would be

(2a) accepted and case complete or

(2b) Now they want an English translation because the English Nikkah Nama (although an official

document) is not a translation and doesn't meet the requirements.

That's why I highly recommend to send in a cover letter with anything you send them.

So now that you've sent them a letter of explanation (hopefully with another copy of the English Nikkah Nama) you'll just have to wait the 60 days for it to be reviewed.

Time will fly by in shaa Allah, just hang in there, you're almost there.

  4. I just got here on March interview thread. I read the first page of March interview -- it looks like it is outdated. so How can I find out if the case has been shipped out? Do I have to call NVC and ask for DHL tracking number?

Have you checked your case status on the CEAC site? I think it changes from AT NVC, to IN TRANSIT, to READY. or something like that.

  5. Salaam everyone - Just wanted to post my experience with this. I don't think it will help but here goes.

I sent in my Marriage Certificate from NADRA that is already in English AND Urdu. I also sent my English Nikkah Nama and got a checklist. They said that my English Nikkah Nama was a translation.

So I called and explained that it is not a translation, the proof is that it has all signatures for bride, groom, witnesses, and most importantly of the Nikkah Registrar. It also has the official stamp of the Registrar. It took 1 month for the supervisor to review. It may have taken longer, but thanks to God, after I called almost everyday, I finally got through to a supervisor and she said she would request my file and review it herself.

Part of the reason I called every day was because I noticed some people get a supervisor review after only 1 week. Alhamdulillah it was reviewed and case was completed.

I recommend, as it was stated above, to send in BOTH the English and Urdu Nikkah Nama AND a cover letter explaining that the English is NOT a translation. God Willing this will save you from getting a checklist and having your case delayed.

Best wishes and prayers for everyone to get a Petition Approval, Case Complete, Visa Approved, and Visa in-Hand, and finally a reunion with our spouse, aameen!

  6. still waiting for a supervisor review of our case since 1/23/15. They said it could take up to 42 days, but now could be longer because they were closed 3 days due to snow storms. then today i read that they're closed again due to inclement weather.

I sincerely hope they're all ok and survive the storms. For the sake of humanity and also for the sake of all of us who are waiting... God help us.

  7. I called this morning. I'm on the NVC website right now. It says the Urdu version is necessary for 'consular processing'. Ugghhh how did i miss this? I thought since the English version is an official copy that it was fine. but apparently not. I don't know what the supervisor will say after he/she sees the file.

The checklist email should be coming soon, i guess.

    ~ Sofi

Dang, I am sorry to hear that, we also had to send in a new marriage certificate or Nikkah Nama which was a color copied large paper with stamps. We got a second checklist this week for an i864.

Inshallah the interview will not take that long

sorry to hear that u got a checklist...Don't worry...You will soon get your case complete and visa. Did you call to find out about the checklist or did u receive an email for checklist ?

Did you recieve the checklist by email?or by phone?

  8. Thanks so much Mrs Thb!!! I really really appreciate it. You're in my prayers too. <3 I'm so happy we both made it to this stage.

I read your message about trying to take it easy from here on out. I'm totally trying to do the same. For some reason the wait at NVC feels different from the wait at USCIS.

Please God, give us a case complete and Visa Approval this year. :)

    ~ Sofi

Still praying for both you...you'll get it soon....i know it....and be happy this process was much quicker than uscis

  9. Azim -

Did they say if it has been sent to a supervisor for review?

I had an issue with the IV invoice and so they had my case sent to a supervisor for review it. It took about 2 weeks. I'm also waiting for a Case Complete.

God willing we'll both get a Case Complete very soon.

    ~ Sofi

    K3 Visa Approved :)

Sorry for late update, i got sick.

  11. I thought I was being overly cautious when i handwrote N/A in those fields. now i'm glad I did, but i'm still worried about the rest of the form. We did the I864EZ. I hope it's all ok, inshaAllah.

Thank you so so so much for post about the YouTube videos. I didn't think to check there. I hope that helps out everyone else too that hasn't sent their AOS yet. BTW, the NVC Wiki here on VJ is priceless. It was so helpful to us when we did our AOS.
