  1. Hi all!

I am just finishing sorting out my husband's documents(!-751 and evidence), and unfortunately I won't be able to get them out until November 8th due to some medical emergencies that came up over the last few months. His Conditional GC expires on the 21st

My question is, does the NOA have the be dated before the 21st, or do they just have to receive the documents by then? I am going to overnight the package so I know they should get it no later than the 10th.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi guys! Just an update to our case, might help with timelines and whatnot.

We filed in June, had RFE in July (my father's citizenship proof, I guess they couldn't access his military records because of clearance issues. They had no problem proving my mom's citizenship with military records).

Up until late November, the last status was RFE received, and then all of a sudden BAM, case approved. Card was mailed out within the week, we got it this past Monday.

We never had an interview OR an interview waiver letter. Was a bit shocked.

But they are getting them done! I know the people on this thread are waiting anxiously, but everyone will get approved, I can feel it. We all love our 'imports' (I use that term to kid around with my husband. He's top quality and can sometimes be expensive). ;)

  3. Do any of you guys actually look back on the time from proposal to spouse to now and end up feeling really chuffed with yourself?

I had a really hard hitting (in the best way) moment today when I accepted my first stateside job offer, about a week after officially getting the authorisation and I had this massive rush, almost a play by play of everything we've gone through with our 8 month K1. To visiting the states, meeting families, paperwork, getting married. Right the way through to my pen hitting that employment contract.

I don't know about you guys, but when I look through what has been arguably the hardest time I've ever had, I'm just really happy and proud of both Aubrey and I for getting through it and being where we are.

I know this is a bit off topic but I wanted to share!

    -Gary

  4. Just curious, for those of you who got your EAD already: about how long did the card take to arrive?

Gary's AP was approved on the 19th, and his EAD on the 20th. We haven't received a receipt yet, but I expect it to come tomorrow or so. He has a job interview tomorrow at 9am, and I am curious as to how long he would have to wait before he can actually go in to fill out his I-9. I am confident he will get this job, but nothing is certain.

    Thanks!

  5. It's good to hear about your guys' progress here in the U.S. :) Gary and I got married back in April, and filed for AOS in June. Still waiting for EAD, and he hasn't worked for 10 months so I hope it comes quickly. NOA1 date was June 15th, and our timeline estimate says adjudication may be between August 21-24. Fingers crossed! He has his license and SSN, and is on my medical no problem (I get state medical for free, as does he as my beneficiary). We are looking into apartments to move into once he's working, and hoping to add a dog to the family (already have a cat, or Gary's 'little man').

Gary likes he cost of things here, except cars. Mostly he likes the prices of groceries, electronics, etc. His parents came over for two weeks in July for our reception, and his dad marveled over the fact that he bought Levi's jeans at Marshalls for $27. He pays over £80 in England for the same style. He bought 3 pairs. ;)

  6. Hey guys!

I was looking at my timeline today and noticed that Gary's EAD notice should be coming soon (thank god. It's been tough on just my income the last 10 months). I put the receipt number I got into the case status search on the USCIS website, and it said to check my NOA1 for my next steps. I just realized, I don't have that. I have the texts/emails with the numbers, he has already done his biometrics appointment, and we have already returned an RFE for my father's (joint sponsor's) birth certificate.

Do I need to see the NOA1? What 'next steps' could they mean?

    Thanks guys! :)

  7. On the immunization front, it might be worth checking with your doctor for your long-term vaccination records. I recently requested mine from my doctor and turns out that while at school I'd actually had my MMR and DTP and completely forgot about it.

  8. The biggest thing people told me that kept me calm was that the only reason this step exists is to try and catch fraudulent applications. If you're legit (which I don't doubt that you are). Then every answer will be a good one. They only ask enough questions to be satisfied that this isn't some sort of scam, which is why out of the list of 20 questions or so they could ask, the average seems to be 3.

Be prepared to be more bored than scared. You'll be sitting in a room watching a screen for your number, it's like the longest game of bingo ever and you do it twice.

  9. Honestly Chris it's nothing to worry about. I was actually only asked one question which was how Aubrey and I met. No doubt you've read a few reviews, basically you go in and get called up, someone checks your paperwork to make sure you have everything and you sit back down. You get called up again and someone else then 'interviews' you. (It honestly just reminded me of a very large bank, there just booth windows) they give you a decision there and then. It took me about 3 hours from entering to leaving, but I only actually spent about 15 minutes talking to people about my application
