  1. My father lives abroad, and him and my step-mother have two adult children together. They married after I turned 18 so I can't petitioner for her, only my father and my half-siblings(Although that takes so long that we better just wait until my father can petition for them).

Is there any options for concurrently applying for his family as well? And if not, would he have to come live in the US away from his family until they get here? I ask this because he can't stay there once he gets his GC, right? Due to the residency requirements to keep the GC.

  2. Hello all. This is my 3rd journey. First it was my GC, then my Naturalization, and now this petition for my wife.

I filed it online yesterday and got an alert saying a notice is on the way. She's back in Brazil, which I guess it means my case will go to the National Benefits Center. Does anybody know how to check their processing times? The USCIS processing times website doesn't have that one listed as an option.

  3. I'm getting ready to file the I-130 online for my spouse and there's some things I'm wondering how to properly fill;

    * For the current address, it doesn't let me type "present" or "current". Should I put down the date I'm submitting the form?

    * In the fields where there's nothing to fill, for example if I don't have a middle name, should I leave it blank or write "n/a"?

    Thanks y'all

    Hi everyone,

Glad to be joining your group. I  filled in 28th October 2021 and waiting for the  interview date. According to USCIS processing time, the completion of process from submission to oath should take between 14-19 months in my local office (Sacramento). As far as I understand this means 50% of applicants are expected to complete the process in 14 months. So if was lucky enough to be among this 50%, I should receive my interview NOA before November.

When I checked the processing time from the link below, it looks like it is longest in California (15-19 months). For Tampa, for say, this time estimation is about 6-15 months. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. Please share your experiences.

You're in the wrong group. This is for people who filed in October of 2020.

  5. Had my interview yesterday at the Montgomery, AL office. I went in my military uniform and aside from the frost desk guard, everybody was super nice. There were two other military guys there.

The interview went smooth, except that apparently there was someone else's picture on my file, but it was quickly fixed.

The agent asked me that question: "The Federalist Papers supported the passage of the U.S. Constitution. Name one of the writers." and I responded with "Alexander Hamilton". Then we proceeded to geek out about Hamilton because we were both big fans of the musical.

I asked him if I was going to to do oath the same day, and he said he would have to confirm because with me being a Florida Resident I would usually have to do my oath somewhere in Florida because of some law on how Florida residents need a judicial oath. But he said because of the pandemic, Florida had temporarily waived this and he wasn't sure if it was still in effect because he had just gotten back from some time being absent from work. He got his answer and told me I would swear in that day.

It was a group swearing in which nobody recited the oath; the agent simply read it and we replied with I do and that was it.

I have my certificate and this Saturday I will be applying for my Passport. After I get it back from the state department I will head over to SSA to update my stuff, and also register to vote!

It was a long journey ever since my GC in 2014. Damn this was crazy. Now it's time to start all over again for my wife. 😭

  6. Hello all. I've been in this site since my first journey (AOS GC) back in 2014.

I am currently waiting on my Naturalization; my interview is next month.

My wife and I got married last October, but she's in Brazil so it was a proxy marriage so it wasn't good for USCIS until after we "consummated" the marriage. I went to see her last month so now our marriage is finally good enough for USCIS since I can show we've been in the same place since our marriage.

I was going to wait until I became a citizen to file the I-130 thinking it would make the process faster, but from I've research I guess the I-130 process timeline for both citizens and green card holders is the same [?] and the difference is only after the I-130 is approved because of visa quotas, right? If that's the case I will just file the I-130 now and upgrade my application after I get naturalized.

Also, I'm military, if it makes a difference.

  7. Update: Last week I sent an email (the military specify address) basically asking what's with the hold up. On Friday, I received a reply saying the Montgomery office was working on it and that my case was on the interview scheduling phase, and that I would hear something from them soon.

Today I got a notification on my case to "interview scheduled". Checked the documents and the letter is there: scheduled for September 14th.

I don't know if my email actually made this happen, but I'm excited nonetheless.

I hope I get to do the oath on the same day 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

Also, at the same time, my estimated completion date jumped from 4, to 13 months... Hopefully that doesn't mean anything.

A USCIS officer emailed me and asked me when do I want to take my interview, I chose April 2nd 2021 and that is now my interview date.

Took about 6 months from submission to interview. (Oct, 3, 2020)

Military filing and also North Carolina.

    Fingers crossed!

Haha odd way to schedule the interview. Did the officer emailed you on your DOD email?

  9. Here's a funny story for y'all to enjoy.

My friend is from Nigeria, and also on the military. We applied around the same time, but her stuff got processed faster and she had her interview today.

She passes the test and everything, but then the officer says that she can't get naturalized because her paperwork doesn't make sense and that she wasn't even eligible to file a N-400 in the first place.

Turns out her dad became naturalized when she was around 13 years old, which makes her a citizen automatically. Neither her or her dad knew that. So this whole time she was already a citizen walking around with a green card. She just doesn't have a certificate. So they told her to just file a N-600 to get that.

This is hilarious, but also a bummer. She joined the Air Force as a non-citizen which blocks us from getting most of the cool jobs. Also means we can't get stationed overseas as our first assignment.

  10. Called today after 140+ days of nothing.

The woman on the phone said they have reused my biometrics and that I should just wait for my interview to be scheduled.

She also said that it was being handled at the Montgomery office. This contradicts what they said on the email that it was being handled at the Birmingham office. That makes me think things are moving - or somebody gave me wrong info.

Hey brother. Have you done your biometrics for your application yet?

I am asking because as a military member you do not need to wait for your biometrics appointment to go do your biometrics. You can simply walk in, show them your military ID and they will take your bios.

I applied January 12, 2021 and did my biometrics on January 13, 2021.

    Wait what? 😲

So you applied in one day and just walked into the next day for the biometrics?

What do I say there? And also did that reflect online after you did it.

I assumed that they are just reusing my biometrics since I haven't heard from them.

  12. My case was submitted on 10/19 and so far I've only received the receipt letter. No word on biometrics or interview.

The estimated completion date is always changing and right now it says July 2021.

Kinda frustrating seeing that one my friends already completed the whole process in 3-4 months when he applied mid 2020, and my other friend applied the same time as me and at least got her biometrics letter a week after filing. We all applied under the basis of military service.

I might call them this week to see if I can get an update.

  13. Late coming to this thread, but here we go again on another journey.

Mailed a paper application on 10/2 after several failed attempts of filing online. On 10/19 I finally got a text saying they have my case. At first the estimate completion date online was July 2021, but now it says September 2021 😒

I mailed it to the Chicago military specific lockbox and paid nothing since I'm applying on the basis of military service.

    And now we wait...  :clock:

    Guys I need some help.

I applied for the remove of conditions last year and in March 2018 I started my divorce process, my divorce was final in May and I sent the USCIS the final decree.

I got 2 weeks ago a letter asking me to amend my process into a I751 with  waiver, I signed the doc and I sent to USCIS. Today i got this update:

Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction

On November 2, 2018, we transferred your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WAC17xxxx, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by December 2, 2018, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Do you guys have faced that before? I believe that means that I will called for an interview.

It must be nerve wrecking to have divorced after filing the ROC, but in the end of the day that law states you are entitled to keep your green because the divorce doesn't technically matter as long as the marriage was real. Marriages end all the time, that's not a reason for you not to keep your green card, but you do need to prove the marriage was real and it just didn't work out.

  15. I'm so frustrated! 😓

I was approved back in March and they shipped the card, but to a non-existing address: they used the right street address, but my old city. I doubled checked everything and my address was corrected in all forms, including the address change I had done months before when I moved.

Anyways, the card was sent back as undeliverable and I got a notification saying that I needed to submit a request to have the card shipped again, which I did: 3 times already!! They always send the same email/letter saying:

"A review of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records indicates that your Permanent Resident Card (PRC) was mailed to you on March 2, 2018, at the address of record.  On March 13, 2018, your card was returned as "undeliverable" by the United States Postal Service (USPS).  A request to have your cad re-mailed as soon as possible to the address provided with this inquiry has already been sent.  Please allow at least 30/60 days for your card to arrive before contacting the National Customer Service Center at the number provided below. "

The only thing that changes is the number of days I should wait before contacting them again. I went ahead actually submitted a I-90 form to have my GC reissued, but they denied that saying basically the same thing as above.

At this point I'm thinking I should get an immigration attorney, but I don't know if an attorney would have any means to force them to stop dicking around and ship my card.

    Anybody going through something similar?
