Thanks for sharing! That's much more information given to you compared to the agent I had in Newark during my 551 appointment. Hoping for something soon!

NJ is where we moved from, so I understand your experience with the blank robot staff! I guess there is not much going on in Buffalo so they are happy to help happy to be there staff. He was joking with me that now I have my stamp in my passport, I don't need to worry about keeping a passport, green card AND extension letter safe. Passport is all I need for now ! I also changed my license today and to my surprise I was issued a 4 year license rather than NJ that went off my immigration. Hopefully we'll hear by August then!

  2. Hey everyone, May 2017 VSC filer here. I am still waiting for my approval and we have moved states, so I need to update my expiring out of state Drivers Licence. I kept putting it off thinking I was going to receive my card soon, but as it hasn't happened yet I decided this morning to make an info pass appointment to get my stamp. I went in this morning (I'm lucky as almost every time slot is open for an info-pass at my local in Buffalo) and got the 1 year extension stamp. Yes they did take my green card too. They told me not to worry, nothing is wrong with my case, 14-16 months will be my likely wait time. He said 80% are currently being processed in that period with 10% earlier and 10% later than 16 months in VSC. I asked about "received at local office" and he said no it is not here, it is in VSC and will only come to Buffalo should an interview be required. It made me feel better about the whole thing and relax not worrying about my DL expiring next month. Fingers crossed I don't have too long to go now!

  3. Hello!

My fiancée and I sent off our I-129f package about half a month ago and we received and NOA1 after only a few days!

I know that it might be awhile until we get an NOA2 but I'd rather start preparing now.

He is coming to visit me in December, I will keep his boarding pass and we will obviously take lots of photos. But other than this what can I take as evidence?

We generally just call each other on FaceTime because the time difference is so bad, I'm 16.5 hours ahead of him :I when we both work all the time it's hard to sit down and have a decent Skype conversation. But we do occasionally. And we use iMessage. Should I just screen capture some messages to each other and the little time that we Skype? Will that be enough along with the visit?

Sydney didn't require any further evidence at the interview. I had it all with me, which I told them and the officer said "hopefully we won't need to get to that". I didn't need any of it, but good to come prepared! Tickets, photographs, skype conversations, letters..

  4. So I have a question about the police checks. Do I need an Australian clearance or do I need one for the state? If its the state do I need one for both where I'm living now and where I am from and spent most my life??

Hope someone can help me out!

    Thank you

    Hello,

I have just received my K1 visa and used a National Police Check through NSW Police, name check only (include your middle name). You just need to go to your local police station and bring forms of identity, you then receive the certificate by mail about 1-2 weeks later. I organised this weeks before the consulate sent me instructions.

I have lived in NSW my whole life and the USA on a J1, I didn't need a US police check.

If I was you I'd get one from where you are from and where you are living now, to be safe!! Nothing like getting to the interview stage and not having all the documents they require.

The K1 instructions emailed to me from the sydney consulate in October read:

    Australian police certificates:

    · Required for each visa applicant aged 16 years or older.

    • Required if you have resided in Australia for a minimum of 6 months. Police certificates must list ALL ALIASES used during or prior to your residence in that country OR be based on fingerprints. When applying for an Australian police certificate, be sure to note that your request is for the purpose of immigration.

    Other countries police certificates:

If you answer YES to the following:

1a. Since turning 16, I have resided in another country for 6 months or more.

    m YES

1b. At that time I held / currently hold citizenship of that country.

    m YES

The police certificate is required from that country.

    Or;

    2. Since turning 16, I have resided in another country (besides Australia and the U.S.) for 12 months or more?

    m YES

The police certificate is required from that country.

Police certificates from certain countries are unavailable. Please refer to the reciprocity for further information.

  5. Hiya

Thanks for the update!!! I am at work and got very excited hahaha I got a few strange Looks.

Hopefully I will get an answer in the coming 2-3 weeks :dancing:

Haha I was the same today, came back from a meeting and had a million missed calls and texts. They sent us our approval at 8:45PM Texas time which I thought was odd. 10:45AM Sydney time so it was awesome we were both awake for it!

It sucks you never can really tell when approval may be, fingers crossed even sooner than that, it could be tomorrow or it could be a month, but it will happen!! Goodluck :) ! :D

  6. Hello all,

Firstly congratulations to all who have been approved recently and good luck to those going to interviews!

I have a question regarding processing times.

On VJ it shows the NOA1 with March 26th dates are being processed at TSC

Igor's List shows dates in Feb/March being processed ( I know a few were transferred to CSC)

When you call up TSC they say they are processing Feb 2nd NOA1 dates

That is also the date in the ALIA data

What is correct? Where are TSC with processing exactly?

    Thank you all in advance!

    Hey,

We are March 26 and we got approved just hours ago, September 16, from TSC ! (No transfer)

  7. Just got 2 texts from different phone #s pertaining to my case. Logged on to uscis.gov & saw that they shipped the case to NVC. I guess I thought that happened at NOA2 but this update on the website had different speak. It said: "On August 19, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly."

I'll just keep this thread updated with info for anyone else who's gotten recent approvals after me who want to know what to expect.

Thank you for the info, we are march 26, hopefully be noa2 soon, and good to know what to expect!

  8. Hey, I read on here the packet 3 that says

Police certificates are required for each visa applicant aged 16 years or older. The
table below shows how many police certificates are required based on where each
applicant lives and has lived previously. Present and former residents of the United
States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S.

But now I am also confused if a J1 is considered a non-resident. I lived and worked there for 12 months, paid taxes and have a social security number. This would be investigated during the initial review? I supplied all of those details with the I-129F.
I will call as well to be safe and post the outcome. Thank you.

  9. I would love to visit by fiance in Western New York while we wait!
We received our NOA1 March 26.
My issue is, I lived in the US February 2013 - March 2014 under a J1 visa, and have only been home in Australia for 3 months. I think it could look like a potential over-stay red flag as it may be assumed I have recent / strong ties to the US after having lived and worked there for a year.
At the same time, the officer may realise how difficult it is to have been with someone everyday for a year and then suddenly being apart for (potentially 6 months) due to awaiting a visa! I would absolutely never overstay and jeopardise our K1 validity!! I just want to visit him!
I'm afraid that a 13 month J1, followed by a travel visa, followed by a K1 within a 2 year period may seem I guess greedy to an immigration officer.
I'd be travelling from Sydney Australia. Has anyone else lived in the US on J1 first and visited the US while awaiting a K1?
