I know.. I've read that before too.. but I have become so battered by this process that I feel like being optimistic is dangerous. Maybe tomorrow it will be AP again.

How frustrating Call for sure, ask to speak to a supervisor. Until then, scan that certificate in and send it. At least they allow scans now and don't require originals.

Exactly they don't care and giving morons that much power over others goes right to their heads. It's such a feeling of hopelessness and loss.

Every day, all day, I wonder what would have happened if I had just said "look, can you please just check with your colleague or supervisor, because I know we followed the rules exactly and the NVC agreed with us and told us all that paperwork was perfect".

I could not agree more. The negative feelings I have towards the person who interviewed me cannot be overstated. How can one person be so uninformed about the rules of their own department? Why did they not check with someone? And in that case, why did the next person to look at our case not say "ummm why is this poor woman in AP? Her application is perfect, give her a visa." THat is what logically should have happened but it didn't, because no one gives a rat's butt.

Another day, another update of the DATE ONLY to my CEAC status. I have given up being optimistic. About anything. They don't give a hoot. So angry.

Soloenta... I had not expanded your timeline since your interview and I am sitting here absolutely gobsmacked right now. I had no idea that happened to you. I feel so silly for whining now. Though perhaps we are in the same boat, I don't know, if there is one thing I have learned from this process it is to have absolutely no optimism at all, and never hope even for fairness because it is hopeless.

I know my precious angel and I'm angry for you they treat us all like criminals and your case, well it's just down right stupid what they have done. I often wonder where they find these people. But soon, just a little longer and all this will be a distant nightmare. Haven't stopped praying for you and the rest. Your case is clear you'll see! Please God have mercy on us all and please send your angels to help those of us in anguish and despair!

It's been a week since my interview and we sent them what they wanted like 2 days after the interview. I know it seems silly but I just want it to be sent or at least to have a timeframe. For example if Monday rolls around and I have still had no word at all, I'll have to guess when to rebook my flight to.. I know it's my fault for booking my flight but we had good reason to be confident! So I hope I know by then

Has your husband contacted one of his representatives and maybe scheduled an Info Pass? It's really incredible how stupid and dense these people are.

Every one at the interview thread is gearing up for their interview either getting one or going through it and they care about nothing else. It's why I have rarely posted there. I do love Dewheels she is the best.

Thanks lady He did contact his Congresswoman and she said she will be looking into it, as she agrees that the consulate is obviously wrong. I'm so so so angry. They are just WRONG. This isn't a grey area. They're WRONG! I feel so helpless, and hopeless. I miss my husband. I am in limbo here, I want to start my new life.

I definitely agree with you, this is a very lonely process! As far as the interview thread and being invisible maybe people are similar to me. I very rarely go in topics/threads (such as this one) that the people have long and too much signatures. I rather read daily peoples rants or helpful useful stuff not read between a page that is mostly reading between signatures. Just my opinion though. I keep checking my status even though i know NVC is closed xD I know the feeling.

You don't go into threads where people have long signatures? How do you differentiate those threads from other threads? Mine is long, no apologies, it stops me from answering the same questions all the time.

My interview was on 10 March 2015 and they update my case on 18 March from AP to ready and still it shows ready.

Normally sri lankan embassy they issue visa after two days.

One of my friend attend to CR1 visa on Tuesday and she got a her visa after days.

Well I'm invisible in the interviews thread (must be too much of a downer). What a lonely process this is. The problem being that only my husband really understands what I'm going through, and he is back in America.

I keep checking the status but I don't think it will change this week. This is the most unbelievable load of sh*t ever. I would be so much less angry if we had done something wrong, but this is THEIR error not ours. THey don't understand their own processes.

My case is still on Ready status, i sent an email to embassy after sending the email they have touched my case on 23rd march & 24th March but nothing change.

I am worried.

Why? It's only the 24th now, I don't think you need to worry yet. They'll be organising your packet to send out. THey can't change it til it's sent.

I still haven't heard anything but I think my posts are kinda invisible in this thread. No one wants to hear when things go wrong I guess.

Well I guess something must have happened today because CEAC has an updated status date of 23 march but it still says AP. God, I never thought I would see those words on my case. Please hurry, consular staff, even though I know you won't, because it's not your life that's being thrown upside down.

My husband got his passport and visa everything in the mail yesterday! He will be here in just over two weeks weeeeeeeeeee

I feel a little more positive today, but the weekends really suck Nothing can possibly progress and I hate it! But I'm starting to feel better, with a lot of support from lovely people like andlolosays and my IRL friends and family. Lots of reminders that this is not an "if" but a "when", and if I have to change my flight that's okay, we knew it was a risk to book it and the change fees aren't that bad really. Totally manageable. If my passport is in the post by next Thursday though, I'm good to go when I intended. It just doesn't look amazingly likely that that will happen.

Oh okay. Just a note for everyone. NVC doesn't approve anything this is why so many get jammed up at embassy. All NVC is is a document intake facility. They are only there to make sure all documents are there and that you make the amount at or above guidelines.

Many believe because they got past NVC they are okay and get denied at embassy. NVC merely "ACCEPTS". They do not "approve". I know this is a Big problem at my embassy Lagos. So many on VJ keep saying "current salary is all they care about". Nope not at Lagos they want previous and current above the line. NVC could care less. The CO has final authority on your AOS package.

So yes I would spell it out if you have to have an accountant write up a nice writeup on what is self employed do so. Someone at that embasy is very confused so spell it out for them and don;t stop until they say No mas!

I see what you're saying, that's good to know. I guess the reason I'm so deeply angry is that we haven't done a single thing wrong. We gave them EXACTLY what THEY asked for in terms of a self-employed joint sponsor. We didn't just throw caution to the wind and decide we would just make it up as we went along. We carefully examined exactly what a self-employed person needed to show income, and we submitted that. We were SO CAREFUL. We OBSESSIVELY followed their instructions and some bloody CO hjust doesn't know the rules well enough, and has made my life a living hell? I can't eat, I don't sleep without medication, I have lost 3kg in the last 4 days. I am a weightlifter, I can't train because I keep bursting into tears. They have ignored THEIR OWN RULES.

Even the congresswoman we contacted is like "what the hell...." and every single american I have talked to knows that self-employed people don't get W2s. So why didn't this person, whose JOB IT IS to know that stuff, not know that?

I am in hell.

I also have a joint sponsor and we sent the tax transcript for previous years, I hope it doesnt cause any issues.

When you submitted your AOS, did you submit the schedules or tax transcripts?

Full tax returns and all schedules. JUST LIKE THE NVC SAYS TO DO. We followed absolutely everything to the exact letter.

@SharksBelow - I just read what's happening with your case and I just want to say I'm sorry that you are going through this, I can imagine how hard it is. I hope that this issue gets resolved quickly, I'm sending lot's of positive energy your way!!

I believe your husband just got an inexperience person and once a supervisor reviews it will be fine. It does happen a second pair of eyes connects the dots.

So just hang in their. It will get resolved and hubby called by by end of week. Don;t make me fly down there and talk to them people now (I so wish).

It was me that interviewed.. not my husband.. but yes, I agree and hopefully that will happen.

Small update, I sent them an email asking them for clarification and explaining that he does not get a W2, and they responded with this:

"If your father-in-law has a 2013 W2 form he should scan and email that to our office. If he doesn't have either the 2013 or 2014, have him send in a dated letter explaining the reason he does not have one. Upon it's receipt the consular officer will review your case file further."

Are they actually *swearwording* mentally unhinged? HE DOESN'T GET OR HAVE W2 FOR ANY YEAR EVER. So we sent in a letter, explaining why, attaching Schedule C.

My husband also emailed his Congresswoman whose staffer replied saying they'd be happy to help. This is utterly unbelievable. NVC already approved all this stuff! Why are we in this position?! I just simply do not understand. This cannot be the only time someone who is self-employed has been a joint-sponsor.

That is just plain wrong! There is no way for a self-employed person to issue oneself a W2 without participating in his/her company's payment structure in a way that makes he or she not technically self-employed, at least in the eyes of the IRS.

I've been self-employed for more than one entire tax year, I've always kept up on my taxes, and I've never had a W2 during those years. It's hard to imagine the motivation of the person telling you otherwise: it seems impossible that they could be that ignorant about something so basic and relevant to their job.

Why wouldn't he have asked someone just to check? I told him that I didn't think that was right, and he insisted that it was. I wish I had asked him to check with a supervisor. I can't stop from crying all the time. No reply from our email yet. Has just been one business day, they said 1-2. I hope they are looking into this.
