  1. Then why do they have this on their website? It can't just be the EAD alone, you need an SSN in most states, or a letter from the SSA stating why you can't get one. Plus other docs to further prove your identity and address.

    https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/pdf/dmv141.pdf

Looks like I am good for Iowa:

"Record of Arrival and Departure (I-94) with attached photo and stamped “Temporary Proof of Lawful Permanent Resident”(The Iowa DOT will not issue a DL or ID if your immigration document shows your remaining status is less than 30 days.)"

    and about SSN:

" I am a temporary foreign national not authorized for employment. (You do not have to document a SSN, but the Iowa DOT will verify your USCIS number. Make sure you are not authorized for employment. If you are eligible for employment but do not have a SSN, you are required to obtain and present one.) "

  2. Wait4ever, what was the date on her non impedement to marriage certificate? I am still waiting for a definite answer from the Consulate.

MaxZim, Regarding the language they speak there - when my fiance' had his interview for B-1 visa in Tbilisi in February(which he was denied ) the CO, a black woman, started to speak Georgian to him. My fiance' doesn't speak English at all. The CO's Georgian was extremely poor. She couldn't understand my fiance. So, she asked him if he spoke Russian, which he did, and then she continued in Russian. So, they do speak Russian there.

    Alright, thanks!

I still think you shouldn't worry about non impedement to merriage. Pretty sure it was a mistake in that e-mail.

  3. It was definitely an issue with co-sponsor and petitioner not making enough money. I don't have this issue either, so at least I don't have to worry about this one...

She had color pictures. I don't think it matters much if they are black & white or color, but if you want pictures to be more presentable, then of course color ones would look better.

Well, original 129f package, Which they are supposed to have, has all colored pictures. and then again, color pictures didn't help your friend:( So might as well not worry about it.

Interview was in English, She speaks English very well and started talking to interviewer in English.

Hmm, i'd rather have my fiancee speak in russian as if it comes to describing her feeling towards me, she can get more sensitive and detailed.

    Thanks for all the info!

  4. Holy cow. I thought it all goes very smooth and easy in Gerogia...

I was wondering if that's because of the co-sponsor? I don't have a co sposnor. I really shouldn't tell about this to my finacee, she will be freaking out even more than I am right now:(

    Question:

Interviewer asked about pictures. Would black and white copies of the pics that were included in 129f package work, or should we print colored pictures?

  5. You dont do anything! Your embassy will email you when they get it along with your interview date. (Depending on your country) for us this was the longest waiting time. NOA2 took 11 days to be approved, 2 weeks to get our interview date which was in 2 months time.

Where are you from? Research timelines to see how long your country normally wait for interview dates.

Is that a record on this forum? 11 days. Crazy. I guess you can't complain about 2 month wait for the interview after this super fast approval of NOA2, huh? ;)

    Good luck on the interview!

  6. Max, my bad, I was wrong.

That's what the answer to my email says:

    Dear Ms.......,

Thank you for your email. The document which he needs to provide is called a military book, which he has to obtain from the local military district where he is registered. He will also need to obtain a police clearance from Ukraine if he lived there for 6 months or more. All police certificates must be less than 12 months old when presented on the interview date. The US government does not recognize church marriages which take place in Georgia as legal documentation of a marriage. If a marriage is documented by a Civil Registry or legal authority in Georgia however, then the beneficiary would not be eligible for a petition of this kind.

    Best Regards,

    Consular Section

    No problem, it happens.

I was worrying about it a bit. i had no problem getting PC in Baku, it is free and completed the next day, but the one from Russia takes at least a month and most of the time even more and it costs money and PAIN in the butt to get:( Go figure, RUSSIA... UGH

    Less worried now tho, thanks:)

  7. I am not mad at those getting processed at CSC. I'm happy for them. I'm merely stating not to say that the waiting is the easy part. That is a statement that would only be made by someone being processed at CSC. In no way do I have any hate, anger, or hostility towards CSCers. Just saying the wait is not easy. That's all.

I agree. I understand how it feels. Even though I am processed at CSC and everything goes like normal CSC case, because of personal circumstances I have been waiting for my fiancée for the past year and half and saw her only once since. So I can definitely hear you pain and sadness. Hold on there!

  8. This step may be easy for you, getting the luxury of having your petition processed at CSC. But for those of us in TSC, we know that while we wait, people like the OP who just sent his petition in today will already have NOA2 before us. All we can do is just wait. But I do not consider the waiting step easy at all. It's already cost me thousands of dollars, waiting... waiting... & waiting. Did I mention waiting? And more waiting. Still waiting.

Think positive, your time is coming up! It is NOT easy to wait, but i guess he meant easy as far as documentation complicated process. Also, please don't be mad at those who are getting processed at CSC. it is not out fault this is happening and i don't want to say for everyone, but I do feel bad for being at CSC and it is not a good feeling as I can't do anything about it, yet i feel guilty becuase TSCs always mad at us, CSCers:(

  9. Yes, Max, your fiancee' will have to provide that. This is a pretty rare thing that not every consulate requires, but the Tbilisi one does. My fiance' will have to do so as well, and I am planning to write to them and ask for how long that certificate will be valid. Since there is another problem with the Tbilisi consulate - very short expiration date of all the documents. The police certificate is only valid for 2 weeks(!!!) since the date of issuance!

And all the translations must be verified by the public notary too.

Where did you get the information about PC being valid only for 2 weeks? I got one in Baku and they said it doens't expire and I e-mailed US Embassy in Georgia and they didn't mention anything about 2 weeks. just reffered me what exactly I need which doesn't state anything about 2 weeks.

    Q:

"Kristina is from Azerbaijan and I was wondering what kind of documentation she needs to provide from Ministry of Internal Affairs? Is that just that she has never committed a crime or something like that? And Main question related to this is, how long does this kind of form valid for? Does it expire? I was informed that for Georgian citizens this form is valid for only 2 weeks once it is obtained in Tbilisi. Is this the same rule for citizens of Azerbaijan or no? Because MIA advised that this form never expires. So it must be US Embassy of Georgia's requirement to set for expiration date for this form."

    A:

    "Dear Maximilian Zimin,

Thank you for your email. Please, see the detailed information regarding necessary documents for K-1 visa: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/types/family/fiance-k-1.html

    Best regards,

    US GSS Visa service desk"

I would really hope they would mention something about the 2 weeks cuz that website doesn't for sure.

  10. Great news for you, Max! So, how do you make the appointment without the slip number?

I haven't gotten that far yet. The only availible interview date right now there is July 30th. there are still 3 spots availible. but that date doesn't work for us, so I am waiting for the next availible apointment date. And the website won't let me go pass that page without selecting a date, so idk at what stage it requires it. I figured, I will be calling in to schedule if online will be requiring deposit slip.

  11. Suggest that you use the specific embassy instructions pertinent to your specific visa, i.e., if you are going for a K1 visa..use that set of instructions.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

First link I got from the CEAC when it says status READY, they provide with that link. and even though officially K1 is not an immigration visa, all web resources including CEAC website state that it is immigrant visa. So first link would be valid as well:( I guess my only option is sit and wait which one embassy is gonna send me?:(

I was processed through the Sydney, Australia Embassy for my K1. I needed the following:

    DS-160

    DSL-1076

    I-134

+Other docs, such as: medical, police check, letters of intent, passport photos, passport copies, relationship proof and so on.

As far as I know, the old documents (DS-230, DS-156 etc) were all phased out October-ish 2013. We definitely did not need them in November when I sent in my package.

However, someone being processed your county would be a better source of confirmation than I.

That's the problem my friend. I am the only one. Well. the first one at least. lol

  12. Sooooo, what the heck?

Do I fill out DS-160? or DS-230? what is the difference?

I have two sources that state two different things:

    One source:

IMMIGRANT VISA ELECTRONIC APPLICATION (DS-230 and DSP-122)

Please see the instructions for completing DS-230: Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration and DSP-122: Supplemental Registration For the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program.

    http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Supplemental/TBL%20-%20Tbilisi.pdf

    and another source:

NONIMMIGRANT VISA ELECTRONIC APPLICATION (DS-160) AND CONFIRMATION PAGE.

All K visa applicants should review application instructions and complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic

Application (DS-160) located on this website: travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1315.html. You must print the DS-160 Confirmation Page that contains the barcode information to bring to your interview.

  14. I just confimed with US Embassy in Georgia and they e-mailed me this:

    Dear Maximilian Zimin,

We would like to inform you that the visa fee can be paid prior to the interview or at the moment of the interview at the Embassy. Please let us know if you have any other questions and we will gladly assist you.

    Best regards,
    US GSS VISA SERVICE DESK

Sekhvaruli, thanks a lot again for your offer to help!

  15. Hi guys, can somebody tell me,did your case statuse after approval notice was changed into the notice that USCIS has shipped your petition to the NVC? I read on VJ that usually in a few days after NOA2 their statuses online changes to shipped. It has been one week since we got our approval, but status never changed, still says that they mailed this approved petition, but not that they shipped it. Has somebody experienced this before?

Will be thankful for any help!

It doesn't change. I already got my case number from NVC and it is in Transit already but my USCIS status still says this:

    "Post Decision Activity

On June 20, 2014, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

  16. I called yesterday. I was on hold for 40 min after I getting past the busy signal. It didnt arrive yet. The man was really rude, because I called a week after I got my notice. But he did check for me and it didnt arrive yet.

Yeah, they always get mean when you call early and not wait supposedly 5 weeks. I tried two days in a row after a week of notice and they were rude that I didn't wait enough, well, on a third day, they got it and were nice and helpful. so, don't get upset and discouraged that they are mean:)

  17. Yes, if you are not residing in Russia, apply to get police certificate at the embassy. It might take some time (a month or more) though.

It says so on the Russian gosuslugi site:

Police certificates for people that are outside of the territory of Russia are provided via Ministry of Foreign Affairs (i.e., embassies)

Awesome! Whew. I was worried about it, My fiancee would have a chance to swing by Moscow in a couple of weeks but she wouldn't be able to stay there for a month(maybe more) to receive it. and all the pain with Power of attorney. bluh.

I am excited for this! Woohoo!!

    Thanks!

  18. Found this info. Thought it may be helpful for some people. I hope this is right. going to be trying this. Will report if it worked.

    Police and Prison Records

Available. Russian law (MVD Order no. 965, dated November 1, 2001) mandates that the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) provide police certificates both to Russian citizens and to foreigners who have lived or are living in Russia. The law states that in Russia, MVD offices must provide the certificate within 30 days of application. Those residing outside of Russia, both Russian citizens and non-citizens, may either delegate a Power-of-Attorney to apply for the certificate on their behalf in Russia, or apply directly to the Russian Consulate where they reside. Police certificates should note all names that the person has used in Russia, and should note the MVD branches in all locations that were queried.

Federal and more serious criminal records in Russia are kept at the Main Information Center (MIC), while convictions related to minor offenses (interpreted as when the punishment was up to 3 years of imprisonment) are stored in the local police (militia) archives. Court records are generally available upon a request from the individual. Prison records are generally not available.

Under Russian law, a prior conviction is listed as "expunged" in the MIC's databank after a specified period of time has passed following the completion of the sentence. For "grave" crimes the period is six years; for "especially grave" crimes it is eight years. On November 7, 2011, the Russian Ministry of Interior issued Ordinance No. 1121, requiring a new format for police certificates that includes the notation of expunged records. Thus, if an applicant committed a grave crime and more than six years have passed since the completion of his/her sentence, a police certificate issued prior to November 2011 will not show a record of this crime.

  19. I only have experience with the embassy in Manila, and they wanted (and kept!) originals from my fiancee, her Birth Certificate, CENOMAR (certificate of no marriage), NBI Police clearance, and they kept my original signed I-134. We tried to give copies of the BC but CO wouldn't accept a copy.

CO didn't ask for my employer letter, updated Letter of Intent to marry or care to look at any additional evidence of our relationship, photos, etc, aside from what was included in our original petition... maybe because I attended the interview with my fiancee (which I really suggest you consider).

They kept her original Birth certificate? :wow:

    Doesn't sounds right. lol.

And most of the US Embassies WILL NOT let you in with your fiancee to the interview.
