  1. Good morning guys. Just had interview... Denied... Was told docs are getting sent back to USCIS and if we have questions contact them. no explanation what so ever.

My fiancee had to go travel to a different country for the interview. Is there anything she can do there now? or she can leave the country and go back home?

The only POSSIBLE reason I can think of they could deny her is that she studied in Russia for the last 6 years. and just graduated. so she had no job, no commitments back in Azerbaijan:( COuld that really be a reason?

Other reasons such as proof of relationship, meeting in person, financial support etc is out of questions. we never even got an RFE in the original petition:(

This entire process was going too perfect:( I knew this was too good to be true to be with the love of my life in less than a month:(......

My life is crushed right now...

I can not believe this happened. I want to wake up:( all efforts, all plans, money, everything is WASTED:(

If I recall reading this forum correctly, if petittion goes back to USCIS that's pretty much a no no and it makes sense to get married and apply from scratch. Is it even worth calling USCIS like we were advised after the interview?

    THOUGHTS?

  2. I am freaking out. Can't tell her that I am thought. I have to be confident and support her. but ####### can't even focus on work right now:( haven't been this nervous for a while.

A little freaking out because the payment she made at the bank, bank teller had no idea what this was all about. Then she checked with someone, called another bank. Then she asked Kristy for our Case#. Kristy was confused and said we don't have one:( they took her passport number instead. I hope this will work:( otherwise she has to run to that bank again to fix that. Unnecessary frustration before the interview:(

Also, she didn't print out the paper from Tbilisi Embassy that lists all required docs(Package 3). well, she did, but not the one she got from them. She accidently printed the one I found long time ago to start preparing docs so the difference is mine said - "Dear K-1 Applicant". Original is supposed to say her name:(

I am less worried about this as she does have Interview and appointment confirmation page printed indicating her name and date and time and all that...

UGH. interview is at 10. it is going to be 1AM for me:( at least couple hrs she is gonna be inside. 3AM:( Good bye work tomorrow:(

Maybe I should get drunk tonight to take it easy or something. UGH... Breath Maximilian, BREATH!!!!!

  3. Does the company have any guarantee? They did a bad job, so if you paid them, they should be obligated to make it right for you.

Haha. Guarantee? Obligated? LOL . Yeah, not in Azerbaijan:)

Thanks for the response. I am going with translation I have. I read it over again. it is simple translation but it makes sense not like they put it in Google Translator, you know? So I think I should be good.

  4. Uh, the translations should be in idiomatic English. A word-for-word translation is a very bad translation, by definition. Did you pay someone for it? If the translation is not competent, then they will take the declaration as a lie and not accept it.

I know. Yeah, I paid for it:( not cheap either. $15 for each document.

It is actually small company that does it, not just someone that I know:(

So you reccomend that I translate it myself and then just take it to Notary and have them notary it? Or I guess i could just take a translation text to a translator:(

    So stupid....

  5. Sorry, the response did not help you.

You best option is go to the regional forum and ask people from Azerbaijan if your translated document is ok.

Oh no worries. Thanks for trying to help! For now I am the only one from Azerbaijan:) Wait4ever is second but she hasn't had her interview yet;)

Max, I don't think that you should worry about another translation. They've dealt with originals and translations of this document before and know what to look for. As long as you have both original and notarized certified translated version, you should be all set.

That's what I am thinking too. Besides, in the document that requested translation it doesn't say - Exact verbiage of the documents required. It just says "Translations must be certified by a competent translator and sworn before a Notary Public" Which means it is not my fault that competent certified translator’s and Notary public's English language skill set is weak lol

  6. I have tried to post but its nt going through

You can do your own translation and sign each page with the above template.

    Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

    Signature_________________________________

    Date Typed Name

    Address

If you speak both language then do it.cease it on Microsoft word ,and translate it then sign it I have been doing mine it has been going through.Good luck

It depends on a country. you can't do that for some countries. In my case US Embassy of Georgia sent me this:

"TRANSLATIONS: Certified English translations must accompany all documents that are not in English. Translations must be certified by a competent translator and sworn before a Notary Public. All certificates must be less than 12 months old when presented on the interview date."

    Thanks for the reply though.

  7. Well said and I agree for the most part. Just couple thing to add:

HOWEVER, I completely and utterly disagree with the entire mindset that "Life is unfair, deal with it." Yes, life is unfair. In some instances, such as death of a loved one or being laid off from a job,

You can't compare Death of a loved one and losing a job. You can't find positive from a death unless they are suffering. You can get over it, which human being needs to do in this case. When it comes to a job. It is either your fault or your company is ####### that didn't appreciate you and you don't need to work for that company anyway. and besides that. Being LAID OFF form a job is an apportunity to start doing what you trully love that you wouldn't have ballzzz to start doing while having a job. Proven fact. and Don't tell me about bad economy and that there is no job. If you can't find a job, there is something wrong with you and you need to start working on yourself.

Also, the reason that all these talks about unfairness in this process annoy ####### out of me is YOU DO NOT know what is happening in those offices and why this is happening. And if you don't have this information you have to DEAL WITH IT or find out the reason and act accordingly and not scream - Oh I think it is unfair cuz Cali does it and texas doesn't. It is kindergarden. That kid got an icecream, that's why i want icecream too. It doesn't work like that and i feel bad for people who think that way.

You can't compare this with slavery because it was a known fact that it was wrong. Here, you don't know that it is wrong. Like I said, my brother has been waiting for the imigration process for 5 years. Well, Cali process it in a month, why is he waiting for 5 years?

If somebody came here who knew exact process how it is done in their end, then I might have listen. but all this empty talks to fight for unfairness. it is pointless.

And to all people who is blaming this countrie's government - you people don't appreciate this country and what this gorvernment can offer you. Yes it is not perfect. well guess what? NOTHING IS... I have said this before in some other topics and will say it again. IT COULD HAVE BEEN much worse.

For example people who had extra money, they would be able to give that money to "right people" and their file would have been moved to CSC. Would that be Fair? Now that's unfair to wait just because you don't have money and your govergnment is all corrupted.

Ugh. I talked too much. Sorry if offended anyone, i just get upset when people don't appreciate what they have:(

  8. Ok I have a different perspective on this... and it will most probably be shot down but... isn't waiting just a part of the process? I mean our timelines are not waiting 5 years! The maximum wait for a K-1 is not even 8 months tsc or csc.. so what are we really huffing and puffing about? A few extra months to build a solid relationship? I'm not saying it's easy, there is not one single night I have went to bed not wishing my boyfriend or now fiance was in bed right next to me! But I have chosen to pursue a love that I think is worth the wait. He has chosen to love and propose to a woman that is from a different country and bring her to live in his and love her and protect her. How many people in this world feel that strongly about another person? Not many in my experience. So yes the wait sucks, and might difficult but in 5 or max 8 months when you wake up next to that man and never have to leave him will it really matter??? We've been through a whole lot in this part year and I could not be more grateful or ready to start our lives together.

Just a perspective from a happily engaged woman :)

    THANK YOU!

Jeez it is so good that somebody in this world still thinks positive and I wish most people that immigrate here think that positive instead of complaining about US government and whining how hard it is. WHy can't people find positive sides? I guess I am complaining right now about people complaining LOL. Oopsy:)

Your relationship WILL BE stronger with that attitude and longer you wait, stronger relationship is going to be, as it is more valuable to you two because of the hard time you have gone through..... In comparison to someone's relationship who met somebody in the Bar drinking, tomorrow when hard time comes, they will end up saying - "MEH, I can go to the bar again and find another one." Not in our case... Think about the quality relationship we get by going thorugh this!

Also, for all of those who is gonna say - "Oh, you have been approved in a month, it is easy for you to say" :

My brother has been waiting to immigrate here for over 12 years now. My mother applied for family reunion but he is not a minor and has wife and baby, so wait time is 10 years. he has been waiting to win a green card for 12 years and official immigration process for almost 5 now. and my close friend tried to play green card lottery and won after first try and I keep hearing stories about how people win those green cards and don't want to immigrate here. Is that FAIR?

It is not about fairness. Life is not Fair!! it is all about how you deal with that unfairness and you attitude towards life....

Stay Positibe, BECOME POSITIVE! Positiveness WILL REWARD you sooner than you think!

  9. Hey guys,

I was wondering how accurate translation of the documents needs to be? So for example my fiancée obtained "Certificate Of Non Impediment To Marriage" and of course it was not in English. She took it to translate it and notarize it and they translated it just word by word. So the title of that doc says - "there was not found any information about marriage of ...."

Are we good or should we redo it and ask to actually put the exact document name that US embassy requested?

  10. Sekhvaruli, thanks for positive thoughts.

Wait4ever?, I am with Sekhvaruli on this one. You shouldn't overthink. They have been talkibng about this forever. Ugh. Yes it is more active now that in last couple years but i don't think it is going to take place in the next several months. So don't freak out.

And I had to get a police certificate cuz my fiancee studied in Moscow for 5 years. you need a police report form any country where you lived for more than 1 year.

Which in out situation, technically, she never stayed in Russia for 1 straight year. she would go for vacation back to Baku for weeks or month so it was never straight year in Moscow but oh well. better be safe than sorry. At least thanks god you can request that through Russian Embassy in Baku.

  11. She got her envelope today.Aparently $88 is a basic biometrix. So X-ray and Syphilis test are additional price that total comes up to 150 AZN. Definitely do vacciness somewhere else. we did ours for $50 instead of 150 azn;)

Now we have another problem. and OUR problem just like everyone's else in this world is Russia:( They are delaying Police report. officially it says it takes 2-4 weeks. Well, it is 5th week and they keep telling her to check tomorrow:( I wonder if in case we don't get it in the next week, on the interview they may not ask her about it:( Or if they do, explaining situation maybe they will let it go since a lot of people don't like Russia right now lol.

  12. So health insurance doesn't cover these shots?

There is no good insurance system in Azerbaijan and most people do not have health insurance. As far as other countries, that's something to ask your insurance as pretty sure every policy is defferent.

As for your second question. Put in search on this forum - Vaccination. you gonna have an asnwer in one of the topics.

  13. Good to know about same day visa rule in Turkey. Thanks guys.

So we had our Medical today. and it didn't go perfect but it sounds like it is going to work out.

First, they asked 150 Manat($192) and said that information on that paper form embassy is not valid:

"Cost of basic medical examination: USD 88.00 for adults and USD 88.00 for children (under age of 14)

Attention: If you are charged higher prices than those listed here, please inform the Consular

Section at the U.S. Embassy in Baku. "

So I will be e-mailing Consular section now, but I am sure I won't hear anything back. Welcome to Azerbaijan... ugh.

Second, i think I messed up on vaccines. Well, it doesn't specify really anywhere, but i guess i should have thought about that. So we had MMR and TD done but it ewas before she was 18 and aparently you need to get one once you turn 18 again. They asked another $192 for those two vaccines. We said No thanks. gonna do it with our doctor. much cheaper if you do it somewhere else.. ugh.

So basically it is just regular Biometrix, plus urine test and Xray. that's stupid that they schedule those kinda of appointments for 3 pm. My poor christy had to starve to death. ugh.

Anyway, overall, it is good to go. She will stop by tomorrow(They don't give blood and urine result the same day) to pay for it and get the envelope. They don't send docs to the embassy, they said she will be given an envelope to take with her to Tbilisi. I am guessing it is a sealed envelope that you can't open.

    I think that's it.

  14. Yeah, that sounds really crazy, but that's what they wrote in the email. OK, never mind, we will follow your steps, Max. It's so nice to have someone ahead

We did have a fabulous trip - we have spend a day in Istanbul and the rest of the vacation in Antalya. We had thought about going to Bahamas or Carribeans, but for Georgian citizens getting a visa there is pain in the butt. So, we just went to Turkey, where visa is not required. But honestly, Turkey is a lousy vacation place, we will never go there again - the service is terrible, the food is disgusting, the prices are high. Only clothes shopping is good and Medditerrainean sea is perfect. And of course, being together wherever we are is unbeatable

Yeah, we are blessed with the opportunity to see each other frequently, my job allows me to take leaves. And we are planning to see each other again in October to celebrate the anniversary of our meeting :dancing: .That will be our 5th meeting during the year 2014!!!

But you are so much luckier! Your petition was approved in less than a month, and you will be together forever very shorty! We don't know yet how soon that will happen, we can't even plan our wedding  Since we would like to have it in Tbilisi with my little boy's family right after the interview.

Interesting. Was it All inclusive resort you went to in Antalya? I was considering that too for the same reason of Visas. Did you have to get Visa for yourself or it didn't require it? and that's awesome about October. And true, I have no right of complaining. on the other hand, it is not gonna be easy as she won't be able to work for at least 3 month when she gets here. that's how long EAD(Employment Authorization Document) takes to process:( Knowing my future wifey, she will not ba able to sit at home for 3 month. Thanks god we are in the coutnry of opportunity. Volunteering at different events should help:)

  15. I didn't. But we will be travelling to Tbilisi at least one day prior interview. I won't be able physically to get that document with that requirement. So what's the point of checking? there is no way they have that rule. It is Impossible to satisfy it. And I am sure if it was that strict and 1 day is a MUST Package 3 would mention something about it. So I am not overthinking it:)

Where in Turkey did you go? Sounds lovely. I wouldn't mind go away for 10 days to see my Kristy:( Ugh
