  1. Hello VJs

I'm so angry that I barely can write.

We are waiting for the appointment letter for over a month. Our interview is scheduled for September 15th in West Palm Beach.

We didn't receive it, but we got a notice, that our mail was returned to USCIS, because of.. something.

All right, mistakes happen, so we asked to resend it.

    They did.

We asked, begged and asked again to fax us the letter, but they repeated that they CAN'T

So I was so happy seeing an envelope form USCIS today in the mailbox. Our appointment is supposed to be next Monday, right? So it was about time!.

The funny thing is, that the correspondence contains two pieces of email

    - One, with the address of USCIS office in West Palm with my name and last name terribly misspelled (but right address), with the correct case number informing us, that they sent us the notice on September 15th and it was returned (back to the future or something?). And they would gladly inform us that this is our correct letter.

    - Second piece of mail, with the actual appointment for somebody else (different name, address, case number, and a couple living in Mendon, Il) with the info that the appointment is on Oct. 14, in Saint Louis, MO.

What the hell is going on?

I'm trying to call USCIS, but they said they can;t do anything, that MY appointment is Sept. 15th but i have to bring my appointment letter. They don;t want to fax it, but resend it again. I have no idea what I would receive this time. A letter for somebody in California? Is that a lottery?

    Sigh.

    Help

  2. That is terrible! I am sure that they have your interview schedule in their system. Can't you get a letter from post office admitting fault? Or something like that. That way, you can take that with you to your interview.

I wonder if you show up to the interview and tell them your story. I mean, they could just look you up for their appointments on that day, what do you think?

Wish you would get it already!

I don;t really think that getting ANYTHING like that from post office would take 15 minutes. I don;t have time. I don;t even know if my interview is still actual. I can show up of course at the office and wait there for the whole day (which is ridiculous) but without the letter they wouldn't even start the interview! So showing up would be kinda useless.

I really hope that they will resend the damn letter. It's so confusing and even if the officers of USCIS are very nice - still it doesn't help.

Why can't they just send it by email or publish the letter on the profile to download it? WHY?

  3. Really! This is crazy. Is there an issue with the address? You should check with the post office too.

There is absolutely NO problem with the address, it's been the same from the very beginning. The post office just decided to not deliver it, and that's it! They had bad day and here we are! We called our post office like 10 times in last 10 days, we called USCIS several times and they all said - we have to wait. So we did!

Now we really dont know what to do. We asked USCIS to resend the mail, but we supposedly have the interview IN A WEEK.

I doubt that this mail will make it!

USCIS refused to send it by fax, or email or any other way. It has to be the snail mail!

    FUN!

WHEN YOU THINK YOUR CASE IS MOVING SMOOTHLY, YOU ARE PROBABLY WRONG

  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we choose the office location on the I-130 paperwork?

"Your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident in the USCIS office in..."

I assumed that office would be the one where I'd have my interview.

In my case, it's slightly different (although the same city) to where I had my biometrics as the biometrics office was solely for that purpose.

Have you tried calling the local offices directly and asking them?

Also, have you spoken to a Tier2 about this?

    Thanks!

Of course we did choose, but only the city / area. I have no idea, where the interview will be. I would like to be sure, instead of driving from one place to another and ask. I just called the office, and they refused to give me any information. "Wait for the letter." Yeah, fun. For ho long? Usual you wait like 5-7 days, it has been 3 weeks, and nothing! We even asked at the post office - still nothing.

    Spoken to who? :)

  5. Tormentis, I can feel your trouble. This is simply annoying I can imagine!

    My two cents is that

    (a) keep the faith and believe that the letter will reach you soon

    (b) if you don't have the letter by the Thursday before, may be you can go to the nearest field office on Friday and ask them for help

© just go first thing in the morning on Sep 15th to the nearest field office and try to see if they take the interview. After all you do have an email notification.

    Wish you expedited mail.

Thank you so much Henmoh. It's really uncomfortable situation. I don;t really think that i'm gonna get the mail. It has been sent on August 13th, and we have beginning of September now. We asked them to resend the mail like a week ago, but USCIS said it's not possible. But the idea about going to an office in person is great, we will have to try. I just don;t know if that would help. Sigh, what a mess they have in the papers!

bout he optionc) -weha 4 offices nearby, we can try the one I had the biometrics in, but I'm not sure if that's the right one :(

  6. Ok it's not fun!

My interview is in next 10 days and I still didn't get the letter.

I called USCIS several times, and they said, they can send it a DAY before the interview.

A day before? It's Sunday. I really don;t know what to do.

I don't know the exact time or the place.. Calling them doesn't help, because they are "sorry, but can't do anything, please wait for the letter".

Fun. For how long? How can we go to the interview without it?

  7. You just go to the office (it can be the office your appointment is at or some different one, it doesn't matter)

You ask if you can do the biometrics, because.. (sometimes you don't have to think about excuses, but it's good to have one)

You show them your appointment letter and your passport

and they may say yes or no.

In one office they can agree, in the other, they will kick you out :)

    You just have to try.

The biometrics itself take around 10-15 minutes

But sometimes you have to wait a little bit, sometimes 20 minutes, sometimes an hour

Depends on how the office is busy.

wow. i think that is good news ? maybe the EAD will be in a separate mail ?

keep us posted - i did call up USCIS hotline and requested to expedite my EAD too... crossing myu fingers...

    Congrats!

Do you have a job offer or something or you just hope for being lucky? :)

  8. I am adjusting from F-1, so I don't think I can skip the interview but we will see!

From what I saw, those who are skipping interviews are the ones who are adjusting from K-1.

(The card production is only for EAD, not green card, in case you misunderstood)

Yep I misunderstood, but still there is always a chance :)

I know personally two people who were adjusting from B1/B2 and had no interview so...

    Everything is possible!

    Fingers Crossed!
