  1. Apparently now for Louisiana - they require 14 hours of driving school - 6 hours in car and 8 hours in class, even though i've been licensed in Canada for over 10 years and have proof of doing driving school here.

Some states if its in Ehglish allows 30 days (check with you MVD)

As an established driver with a license you can have a US license within

a wk of your arrival if you have SSn & proper ID/status to show

  2. Hey there

I have renewed my passport since doing my DS-260 and I was doing some reading about people doing their interview appointment registrations that their passport numbers hadn't matched their DS-260. My question is: When it come time to register my appointment for my interview, will that be an issue? Should I be using my old passport number for the interview part and then just bring with me my new and old passport?

  3. What kind of eye exam do they do? read the chart from a distance ?

Sorry I hit post? before I finished off the first paragraph that should have read:

Just wanted to quickly share my medical exam experience while it was fresh in my mind. First of all, I tried to make this as stress free as possible cause I'm a worrier ? so the choices I made for accommodations & transportation are what worked for me, I never once stressed that I would be late or miss my appointment?

  4. They sent on July 15 or 16th saying case completed. and then again this morning i get the same thing letter saying case completed. I had called this morning to see if there's an interview date booked by chance and she thought it was weird that it had been sent twice.

They sent emails to you twice to make up for the ones they did not send at all?

  5. It's so funny because when i spoke to a rep yesterday named Arthur, he stated to me that I should call back at the end of August to find out my interview appointment. like #######. I also received a second email stating my case was completed today. One dated July 15 saying complete and one dated July 22 stating complete. Such bull

I think some of this rep giving out wrong info. They also told me that my CC was July 16, so I told her she's wrong and that my Cc was June 16. I received the confirmation email June 23.

I called this morning, and the operator said my case was completed on July 20th. I reminded her that it was July 10th. She read the notes, and said she misspoke first.

She inquired somewhere (either with someone or some system) about Montreal. And then told me that all August appointments are booked. Embassy would start scheduling September appointments in few days. But still she has no idea when my appointment will be scheduled.

  6. this is a canadian thread. you might want to post this under the general consulate or your own country's page.

I got my interview day on August 6 but I am not ready I don't have a joint sponsor. And I don't know when will I get one. I have asked family to sponsor my husband but unfortunately most of the are not making money. How do I change the date of the interview

  7. I know for sure that whatever make your vehcile is, you can contact customer service a request a letter stating that your vehile meets U.S. standards. They will need this when crossing over the boarder with your vehilce, at which time they will fill out paperwork for importing your vehicle.

    Good morning,

I apologize that this topic has been repeated in the forum but just want some peace of mind.

Born and raised in Toronto, I just received my passport back(family based visa)????. Dad lives in Jacksonville,Florida.

According to the visa exp. I have until the end of September 2015 to immigrate to the U.S.

Can I Immigrate to the U.S. without my belongings? Come back to Canada and bring my belongings over when I'm ready? Does the temporary 1 year stamp mean I have up to a year to move or until I get my official "green card" in the mail.

Best advice bringing my vehicle over?

I was hoping the consulate would give me until at least November so I can get everything settled. Feels like I'm In a race against time. Lol

    Thank you for you input.

  8. Does anyone know why I would have received a second letter from NVC stating basically the same thing ?

One dated July 22,2015 and the other July 16,2015.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview.

    Sincerely,

    Director

    National Visa Center

  9. You're not being annoying lol.

I'm pretty sure we have to bring passport sized photos to the interview? That's what I meant. I'm taking copies of whatever was submitted for the AOS portion when you submit the AOS with the IV package together so they have it. PLUS an original signature for the i-864 form.

Sorry I dont mean to be annoying but just so I am clear. You are taking your husbands most recent paystubs and are you also taking a photocopy of your husbands passport.

  10. I would just bring everything that you think might be necessary, because that will be the time they ask for it and you don't have it.

I'm bringing copies of all financial proof because that seems to be the biggest thing they look at, an original i-864 signed by my husband(the sponsor), long form marriage and birth certificates, passport photos as required. Pretty much anything I can. Try and have everything organzied that way you can hand them everything they ask for without having to dig too much.

You are awesome. That was the part I was unsure about and I did read someones process got delayed for not having the I-864.

Do you think I will need my sponsors pay stubs even tho am bringing all income docs for 2014.

and is it necessary to bring passport copies of my sponsors (In-laws). Wife I have passport copy.

    Thanks

  11. I would suggest that you have an I-864 AOS form signed by the sponsor as I've read a lot about people getting delayed for not having an original signature on the form to take.

What I did was I just reprinted the form and had my husband signed in BLUE pen the part where he signed before and mail it to me so I can take it to my interview.

Hello folks, first of I cant thank you guys enough for all your contribution. It truly does feel like a family every time I am here. I try to contribute as much as I can. Please check out my review on medical exam in Toronto. I was wondering if some one can verify the list for me. I will greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

  12. Sorry i read your first reply way to quickly cause I was excited to read it lol. I wish you luck in your interview! thanks for responding to me.

As I mentioned, they did take blood. But it was only one vile and really quick/painless. But no vision test or anything of that sort.

My interview is scheduled for July 30th. :)

  13. They didn't even do blood tests or vision or anything? That's crazy, i've been all stressed about it because I came across a horror story of someone's medical and when he had gone for it - it showed something wrong with his xrays.

Did you bring your immunizations and it just checked that you were up to date?

I just had my medical on the 14th of July with Dr. Lyndon Mascarenhas.

I arrived at the office, filled out a sheet that the receptionist gave me (just my name, address, phone number, and e-mail). Then gave her my vaccination records, one passport-sized photo and my passport to photocopy before sitting back down.

When I was called into his office, he verified the information I wrote down, asked me my height and weight (without weighing me), and asked if I had had chicken pox. He then took my blood pressure. Asked if I had a family doctor and if I get regular check ups, then told me I was free to go. He sent me downstairs for a chest x-ray, and then across the street for a blood test (one vile). That's it! It was $300 and I paid the extra $50 to have my results couriered to me. They arrived at my house two days later!

    Super easy!

it's nice to know it only took a couple days to get your results back. When is your interview?

  14. The issue is with that is that: I can get a direct flight to toronto from Winnipeg manitoba. I can stay for free there. Whereas Surrey, I have at least one connection to British Columbia and then a drive from Vancouver to Surrey. PLUS the tickets are double the price then to fly to toronto.

Thank you for the suggestion, I had thought of that. :)

I just noticed that you live in furthest west Ontario as possible.

Why do you want to fly to Toronto? You can also fly to Surrey, BC and get Dr. Gulzar Cheema
    7170 – 120th Street
    Surrey, BC V3W 3M8

Dr. Cheema gives the results next day. You can pick that up yourself. Toronto ones takes sweet 2 weeks.

  15. I have my vaccines up to date and in hand I made sure to have that all done ?

I would recommend that any Immunizations that you don't have the documentation in hand , or is not current, that you go ahead an get those vaccines before your visit. There may not be enough time to get the proof of vaccines after the fact and turn it around for the interview.

  16. My plan is once my interview is scheduled which will hopefully be soon as our case is complete that I can fly to Toronto for my medical - have it mailed back to me then go to Montreal for my visa interview with medical in hand.

the medical is usually valid for 6 months, that is tied into your visa. I booked mine in Montreal one week before my interview, and planned to pick up my results the day before my interview. Some of the doctors take 3 to 4 days for results. I wanted as much time on my visa as possible, but I got my interview notice a month ahead, not everyone does.It was also spring so hotels were more readily available.
