  1. Was this at the embassy? Is the applicant required to submit birth certificate? I find it strange, especially if he's already US citizen. Did you submit a birth certificate?

I'm worried because I don't have an original birth certificate :\

In this case they requested proof of us citizenship so he submitted his wifes birth certificate and the big deal was that it didnt have her parents name on it, it was at the embassy during the interview, however in my case my husband took my birth certificate and my passport to be safe and they told him they didnt need it..you never know what they will come up with so just try to have a back up, another lady took 8 pictures for evidence and they said it wasnt enough and they also questioned why she didnt have a wedding ring on, in my case my husband took our wedding album but was nor asked for any kind of evidence. I dont mean to scare you guys i just really want u guys to be prepared and not take any chances, they also questioned my husband if he ever tried crossing to the U.S. ilegally and he admitted to it, when he said yes they told him the date and time of what they had in their records! ? thank god he said the truth, he got asked about 8 questions..others maybe 3..

  2. Congratulations! So happy for you!!! I have been kind of disconnected from VJ, but now that I am married and settled in my home I will have tons of time to by online :)

God bless you in your journey.

Thank you and likewise! Hope you dont mind one more question, did you wait for your visa in juarez? We are hoping it doesnt take too long, we had to switch hotels today because where we were at was full..now we are worried about booking day by day because its expensive ?

  3. Congrats! Lucky u, ypu guys are going to spend the holidays togetherr!!! M

And how does it work when u get there? They give u an appoiment for the local uscis office?

If you mean when we get to the US? Well the k3 is valid for 2 years, we can either request for nvc to finish the 130 process or request an employment authorization card since he will come in under a visa not a permanent resident, hope you get some good news soon! Stay positive ?

  4. Hi, my fiancé received the letter in the States about 2 weeks later, he scanned it and sent it to me, that's what I used for my visit to Juarez , my letter arrived to my address in Mexico after I had the interview and all!!!

They actually send out the letters from El Paso, TX, that's why it takes longer to arrive to the beneficiary's address.

Hi sweetopossum!! Approved!! ? thank you so much for your help! Congrats on your wedding as well!! Now we just wait for dhl..hope its not too long, we want to make sure they dont take their word back! Lol thx again

  6. My k3 petition made it all the way to the embassy in Kingston Jamaica. And my husband's interview was on the 7th of February 2014. When we reached the embassy they said an interview could not take place because our ir1/cr1 reached NVC already. They told him to leave all his documents with them and they will notify him when they sort it out. We thought it would be another couple months wait but little did we know that that same day they requested NVC expedite the ir1/cr1 case from NVC to the US Embassy in Jamaica! I found out by calling NVC. Then i tracked it through DHL. Nd it reached jamaica Tuesday February 11th!!! I emailed the embassy to ask if we can get another interview since they already have most of the documents nd they called his phone the same day and scheduled us for our ir1 /cr1 interview next week February 20th!!! Plus they said i only have to pay $230 for the visa and not the $88 affidavit of support procesing fee since its not being processed domestically (in the US)! I am soooo happy! I thought my k visa slowed down our ir1/cr1 but it actually boosted it! Also im happy we r getting this visa as he will be an LPR immediately and can work as soon as he gets to the states. I will make sure to give a review of how our interview went!

Hello, looking for k3 visa interviews i came across your post. Nvc assigned my k3 case and i went forward with scheduling an interview and fingerprints etc... 1 month later nvc assigns case number to my 130, and now i read this and it terrifies me. What if the embassy does nit want to approve the k3 because the 130 is at nvc already :(

  7. Oh good. Your profile and timeline confused me and I was afraid you were following the wrong instructions. Very rare to see a K-3 approval and go through nowadays. Good to know you are indeed going for a K visa after all. Good luck! :)

Sorry! I cant update my timeline from a mobile device lol i was very lucky!! Thank u.. Waiting for the letter to arrive and the big day :)

  8. My fiancee and I completed the process last month; this has been a wonderful forum for information, so we wanted to provide some specifics in case it can benefit others:

First, we waited 6 weeks for the packet to arrive in the mail. We finally hired an attorney, he contacted the consulate in CDJ, and they e-mailed him the info same day...we waited 6 weeks for nothing! Second, below is my fiancee's experience the day of her interview, which only took a couple of minutes:

"I arrived as they said no more than half an hour before my apt. I got there by 6.45 (my apt was at 7.15) first, they make you go to another place not far away (5 mins walking) where they perform the first check of the documents, and stamp one of the forms; it is in a plaza nearby, and there is a waiting room, I guess for the people that accompany the applicant. By the time I went in it was 7:05 and in the room there were already about 150 people. In many cases there were two people going together, couples, families..

When they say, NO food into the consulate, they mean gum too. In my case I had a packet of gum with 5 pieces left, the same that they made me chew, I wasnt able to just throw them away. I was glad the packet wasnt full.

Get a decent meal beforehand. I know it is early in the morning, but I waited 2hrs before I was called to review and gathered some papers and then, another 1hr15mins to be called for the interview. By that time I wasn´t feeling that good.

And yes, be prepare for a boring wait, you cannot even focus on read a book, since your number (NOT in order) could come up any moment on the screen, so you all get to do is to stare at the screens hoping you would be next."

Hello, its been 3 weeks and my appointment letter doesnt arrive, where do i call, i tried the consulate in el paso that sends the k3 ans they tell me they cant email it :(

  9. Praise God!

When did NVC initially received your case? and when did you send in your docs? Just to compared with my dates and see if I can get an estimate of when my interview will be scheduled.

    Thanks and good luck!

Nvc forwarded my case oct 8 to mexico embassy, mex embassy received it and got it ready for interview process, meaning i can schedule my appointment anytime available after that :)

  10. You keep posting your questions in threads about the K-1 visa process so I thought you were doing the K-1 visa process, yet tonight I noticed that your profile and timeline show you filed for an I-130 for a spousal visa. The CR-1 spousal visa process is not the same as the K-1 fiance(e) visa process. You are following the wrong instructions.

These instructions do not pertain to you. You submit documents to the NVC and the NVC will supply your interview date. NVC process > http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

IR-1/CR-1 Visa Process forum is here, and where you need to ask questions about the spousal visa process > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/110-ir-1-cr-1-spouse-visa-process-procedures/

K1 and k3 are the same process..i initially started with 130 but my k3 got approved so i went for it :)

  11. Wait wait wait... I have been answering you as if you were applying for a K-1. These are the instructions for a K-1 applicant, not someone trying to get a CR-1 spousal visa. I never noticed your profile said that before. These instructions do not pertain to you. You submit documents to the NVC and the NVC will supply your interview date.
