  1. Hello everyone,

We have just got RFE because of financial reasons...

We want to ask a family member to become a joint sponsor but he's worried that his credit history will be checked cause they ask for his SSN in I-864.

Does anybody know if joint sponsor's credit history is checked for I-864? Does it influence sponsor's credit somehow?

Thank you very much for your help.

  2. Hello,

I'm filing docs for AOS, but I have encountered a problem.

My name in the passport is Ukrainian, but my Birth Certificate is in Russian (because it was issued in the USSR and Russian was official language). So when translated everything was spelled differently, according to Russian pronunciation - my name, last name, place of birth, my parents' names. The difference is usually in one letter: e.g. not Oleksandra but Aleksandra. It's easy for every Ukrainian to understand both Russian and Ukrainian variants (cause they coexist everywhere, even in the internal passport we have both Ukrainian and Russian) but I doubt that it can be understood by USCIS Can it be considered an unacceptable mistake?
Should I make a new translation according to Ukrainian transliteration?

I would appreciate your comments on this matter.

  3. Someone who supposedly can help out:

    http://www.dhs.gov/topic/cis-ombudsman

    http://www.dhs.gov/case-assistance

    https://cisomb.dhs.gov/oca/form7001.aspx

If I had received as many useless replies to my service requests as you, I would definitely contact them at this point. The more fires you light, the more chances some action will be taken.

Thank you usmsbow I emailed them today.... However lol It says I should hear a response from them i 45 days..... UGH!

  4. You're just full of bad news for me! ;)

Crazy. I really had a hope NVC would get it by Friday (since that's what they promised), but clearly their promise means zip.

I am going to the USCIS office in Fairfax on Friday morning for an infopass appointment. I doubt it will be helpful, but figured might as well give it a shot.

There's only 3 reasons why I think the NVC has not processed our cases.

    1. The case was lost

    2. They have sent it to a wrong address.

    3. NVC in fact has the our cases but has not been entered into their system.

I was told that the NVC receives our cases by the pallet (10,000 +) and it could take 3 months just to enter them.

  5. I have done that as well. They said it would arrive at the NVC within 2 weeks. It's been over 3 weeks now and still nothing. My congressman says that it still is at the USCIS. All of this info is complete garbage. What a great government we have. Our tax dollars are so well spent.

Uggh. I've put in 2 service requests. I'm supposed to have a reply to the 2nd by Friday. The first answer was pointless (which is why I put in the 2nd request). Reading about your experience makes me a little ill.

One suggestion for you: have you e-mailed CSC and complained? I did after my first service request answer and got an answer saying NVC should have my application in 10 days (it's been 7 so far). The e-mail address is csc-ncsc-followup@dhs.gov. Put your service request number in the subject heading.

    This is what I wrote:

Today I received a reply to my service request that did not answer my request at all. It merely restated what was on my Notice of Approval on September 10th. I was already aware that my petition had been approved and supposedly had been sent to the National Visa Center (NVC).
As of today, November 20th, NVC still has not received my application from USCIS. If you could provide at least a little more information (such as what exact date my application was sent), it would be greatly appreciated. Also, an easy solution would be to re-send my approved application to NVC.
I have attached copies of both my Notice of Approval and the response to my service request.
  6. I never asked for sympathy. An NOA2 is a lot further along than an NOA1. As I mentioned earlier, would the OP like to trade places? Didn't think so.

    Next.

When starting this whole process our case was originally at TSC then it was transferred to CSC. From reading on here there are cases that were not transferred to the CSC that in fact stayed at TSC and are farther along in their process then we are. I have no control over what they do with our case. We are at the mercy of these people and by not having an answer to where our case is is not acceptable and I have every right to complain about that. I agree with everyone on here that your negativity is not needed. No I would not like to swap places with you. How far along in your process are you?

  7. to make sure im understanding this properly your processing a k-1 fiancé visa and from the uscis approval notice to nvc its been 78 days and you haven't heard anything yet?

Yes, we were approved September 18 and the NVC as of today has no record of our case. The USCIS will not give me a solid answer as to why it has not been sent. I keep getting the run around. Every time I call I get a different answer.

  8. I believe the issue the OP is having is that they were approved (NOA2) 78 days ago and haven't heard from NVC yet. Based on their previous posts, they have been given the runaround when making inquiries.

They aren't complaining about the wait from NOA1 to NOA2, as clearly evidenced by their second sentence. They already did their 112 day wait.

Thank you Katmedic you hit the nail on the head! I didn't expect the onslaught of negative responses. I thought that maybe someone could possibly relate to our unexpected wait.

  9. No they have not given me an answer as to if they lost it. I keep getting letters from USCIS that they will locate it and send it to the NVC ASAP. Then I received a another letter in response to my service 4th service request saying that my letter will be forwarded to the NVC in the next 2 weeks. That was 3 weeks ago. I literally think I have an ulcer in my stomach now from all of this stress.

  10. I am beyond livid! Our case was approved on September 18th 78 days ago. I have done everything and more that the NVC and USCIS has asked me to do. I even have my congressman involved and they can't even get an answer. But yet its ok for all of these ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS to just walk in here. Here we are sitting and waiting for our loved ones doing the RIGHT THING and all of these illegals just walk in here with not even a slap on the wrist. Is anyone else going through what we are going through????

  11. Yes I received a response. All it said was that it was under review. So I called immediately and asked for another service request, haven't heard anything since. I did however call my congressman today and they seem to have put some life into all of this. They actually seemed irritated that this was going on. She even said "she should have had her interview and be here by now". Sooooo she is saying that I should hear something by this Friday. We're still not getting our hopes up because it seems that every time we do we end up being hurt more and more each time.

  12. I called and spoke to USCIS (a tier 2 rep.) yesterday and she advised me that they send all of our documents in a big group. They do this every 30 - 60 days depending on the quantity of approved applicants. We have been waiting for 47 days. What I thought was supposed to be a very quick transition has turned out to be another stressful event of this whole process. We were really hoping and praying that she would be here for Christmas and now the chances of that are slim. It infuriates me to know that our documents could possibly be just sitting somewhere at the USCIS being neglected. I know these people have a job to do, but it also feels like they really care less about us as human beings and that we are on edge everyday waiting to finally be with our loved ones. When I call (USCIS or NVC) I always get a different answer. I've heard 35 days, 60 days, 90 days and 6 months!!!. I really think that they look at this as a game and love playing with our emotions.

The other sad thing is, that I tried to expedite this approval in the past because of everything going on in Ukraine, Now winter has come and she just recently had the heat turned on in her building. Not only did they deny my request but it feels like they are intentionally prolonging this out of spite. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm being too emotional about this but I feel like the US does everything so backwards and there's nothing that you or I can do to change it.

  13. Hi everyone! Is anyone having the same problem as we are? We were approved from the USCIS on the 18th and we have not heard anything in regards to a new NVC#. I have called several times trying to find out if they have received our paperwork. They tell me it can take up to 35 calendar days and that if is past 35 days to email them a scanned copy of the approval letter. Tomorrow will be 35th day. Has anyone had to email them? If so what was the outcome? I hope this doesn't go on much longer (I feel like I'm losing my mind!) Thanks so much!
