the embassy isn't trying to break anyone up, the consulate has a job to do. AP cannot be waived or expedited, they have no control over how long background checks take to clear. Record keeping in Pakistan is horrible at best and trying to complete AP is a long, tedious process when record keeping is so bad. The cannot and do not discriminate because of what you call "mixed marriages".
Well this is clearly YOUR opinion. Lets analyse this, when we first submit our I130 the USCIS does a BACKGROUND CHECK. Why even have that step if the embassy is going to turn around and do the same thing. So, if the USCIS did the background check b4 approving the petition at step number ONE, there is no reason to do another. Yes, the embassy does have a job to do but they are human like the rest of us and have their own opinions and unfortunately they are in a position where they have the power to destroy peoples lives if the feel like it. Some of them develop a god complex. Some maybe have a bad day, or are prejudice to some people or religion ( not that they would admit it). My problem is not so much that a case goes into AP, my problem is that there is no guidelines no procedures no time frame. Like Janet stated in her comment there is no way of knowing what if any step they are in the process. In my opinion the AP structure needs to change, there has to be a procedure, guidelines, rules, a process, a TIMELY process. As Janet also stated there are at times no reason for the AP. In my case we were not given a reason, they did not request any additional documents.
From what I have researched is that if it is a Muslim country and especially if the beneficiary is male they will go into AP. This is not RIGHT just because they are Muslim that is called prejudiced, discrimination. Now lets add the fact that two people met fell in love and are of mixed races and different religions that is also a red flag to them. WHY? There is no law and nothing wrong with two people falling in love that are of different cultures and different religions but, the embassy considers that as a red flag. My husband and I have no criminal records, we have PROOF of our on going relationship and took all of that to the interview but the interviewer had already made up his mind before my husband even spoke ( I say this because of the looks and the nasty attitude he gave my husband right after he was called for the interview) this man was rude patronizing, judgmental. Whether you want to admit it or not they are trying to brake families apart to avoid issuing visas. Other wise there would not be people in AP for a a year, two, or even 7 like I know of cases. The pain, anguish, stress, and misery this AP process brings into our lives is unreasonable. Bottom line is THE AP PROCESS NEEDS TO CHANGE!

Wow...you have only been in AP for 1 month? Many here have been in AP for many months, some even years. Going through AP at Islamabad is a true test of patience. Is the beneficiary female? If so, you may be lucky and your AP will only be a few months. If the beneficiary is male, then you need to be prepared for a very long AP. I am not saying that AP times can't be short, but the vast majority on this forum have had long wait times.
AP is difficult on relationships, it causes fights and incalculable stress between you and your spouse. This is your test that Allah has given you and its up to you and your spouse to pass it. The only thing you can do is be patient, respond to anything the embassy asks for and wait. Be strong for each other or you will end up going crazy or worse divorced which has happend
I dont think the amount of time on AP is what is important, do not minimize my feelings and my hardships base on the time our case has been on AP frankly it is belittling. The amount of time people are apart due to the immigration process is really the hardship, and that is what I am trying to convey. I am well aware that there is no ti,e frame for the AP process, which makes things that much harder. We didnt even know that AP existed. There are things you dont know about how this immigration process has affected us.

@ thedude6752000, I have a request if it may added in this letter. I am the us citizen married to a Muslim Pakistani man. There is this overwhelming amount of cases being put on AP because of the religion and country these men are from. The main problem is that there are no guidelines no procedures for cases in AP. Many case are in AP for years tearing marriages apart. Causing so much stress, pain, depression and feelings of hopelessness not to say the feeling that we have done something wrong in marring someone from another country and we are being punished for doing things lawfully. Can this issue be added in your letter?

Hi Everyone,
My name is omer and i got married on jan,13th 2013. My wife applied my case in Feb, 2013 before NVC, and I got interviewed on October 25th,2013. where the C.O. put my Passport with her and she also put my case under A.P. by assuring me that i will get my visa issued within the time span of 3 to 4 moths. But now its been more than six and a half month up till now, and i haven't got any news about my visa yet.
Can anybody here help me and tell me that usually how much time does U.S.Embassy Islamababd takes to issue a visa by ending up the A.P.? what is the Average time of winding-up of A.P. by the U.S. Embassy Islamabad ? how much r they going to take more to Issue me my Visa ?
trust me guys this never ending Waite is so frustrating and now its killing me.
I am sorry to hear you are also going through this and believe me all of us that our cases are in AP feel the same way frustrated, with the wait that we never know when or how it will end. In regards to your questions There is NO way of knowing how long each case will be in AP, I know of some cases that have been in AP for more than 5 years and some that were only in AP for 3 days. Islamabad from all the research I have done seems to be putting 95% (if not more) of the cases on AP. I wish there were better things I could tell you except I am being honest. Pray a lot and hope they work on the mountain of cases they have on AP. I feel your pain I myself feel like I am dieing inside everyday that passes and nothing changes.

congratulations.

When was your interview and when did it change to ready?
MsZeen my husband interview was 4/21/14. It has always remained on Ready. the case has had 3 updates on 4/28/14, 5/5/14 and 5/6/14 and it is still on READY. that is why I am so confused.

administrative process has no time frame, there is no way of knowing how long it will last it could be a few days or years. It happens more than we like to admit. Im sorry for this, my case is also in AP, i hate it and the worst part is there is nothing we can do but wait.

I consider both of you lucky. I have been apart from my husband since december 2012. I have already lost it, dont know how much more i can take. I wish you both the best on your visa journey.
-
well first of congratulations on your pregnancy! Second I am not going to debate with anyone the time frame that it will take, I was just telling you my experience. I wish you the best in your immigration journey and I hope you and your husband will be together soon. As always if you have any questions plz feel free to private message me, I will be happy to help.

Im so sorry. I understand how you feel. Believe me I am upset that my case is on AP and there is no time limit on when the embassy will issue visa if they issue it. You would think ppl that are married would go faster than ppl who are just engaged but i guess not. What you probably are seeing is the first approval of the actual petition which is called NOA1, the actual process as i explained is actually a lot longer. I wish it was not like this but there is nothing any of us can do. People who truly love each other being kept apart over political borders.

i thought you were asking about @ interview step sorry.....i deleted my last answer when i realized you said naturalization

ok let me try to explain once you file with uscis and you get the approval then the case will go to NVC there u have to submit more paperwork and pay fees and then once all that is done you get case complete and then the interview is schedule. For example I file both the I-130 & the K3 for my husband on March 19 the I-130 and the K3 on April 4 2013. The I-130 was approved completely on October 22,2013 the K3 was approved completely on October 22, 2013 as well, so at the USCIS stage it took 7 months. Then it went to NVC, received case number and paid the two fees and filled out the DS260 and submitted more paperwork that case was complete on February 18, 2014. My husband interview was schedule on February 28,2014 for April 21, 2014. As you can see a bit over a year all this process takes. One thing I do want to add to prepare you (cuz I was not prepared) just cuz he has an interview does NOT mean he will get visa, it seems a lot of case are being put on AP. Which is basically a hold for further investigation. My husbands and my case was put on AP, so needless to say we are still not together. This process is very difficult and you two should prepare for a wait, Im sorry I know this is not what you want to hear but it is the truth. I think you and your husband need to discuss if he will be going back to India and maybe look for a cheap place to stay in the mean time. That is what my husband is doing. This is all very trying and very stressful, it will take its toll on both of you. so talk make decisions together. If you need anything please let me know I will help anyway I can

i am aware that there is no time limit for AP that is not my question.....................My question is about the ceac.state.gov website and the status of READY and NEVER changing into AP or anything else but it is updating like i mentioned it updated today but it still says READY...........is that normal? is that a glitch?
-
Hi everyone, I have a question my husbands interview was 4/21/14 and he was told our case was on AP. I check the ceac.state.gov website everyday to see if there is any updates...the LAST update was TODAY 5/5/14 and it says READY....it has always said ready since the interview it has NEVER changed to AP or anything else. Is this common that the case status doesn't change? Should I be concerned? Please NO RUDE COMMENTS!
-
Your case will now go to NVC to pay fees and fill out more paperwork once you get case complete at NVC then they schedule your appointment fir interview
-
-
Also just so you know once you file it with USCIS and that petion gets approved it still needs to go to NVC fir fees and more paperwork then once case complete it will go to embassy for interview. If you are certain he will not stay in Dubai past June you may want to call USCIS and see if you can change the interviewing embassy.
-
So u kniw for certain that his job will end in June? If it doesn't he can get hus Dubai visa extended. What country is he from originally in others words where will he go back to in June if hus job ends?
