  1. Received out acceptance letter today in the mail! The decision date was 8/2/17- the online status has no updated yet. We are VSC filer.

We went to the USCIS local office on 8/3/17 and they said they wouldn't look in the system to check the status because it can take up to 2 years... I called the USCIS Service Center after and the two people we spoke to said that the case wasn't assigned to an officer and that there wasn't an acceptance or any update.

Wanted to share that info, because clearly what was actually happening was different. There is hope for all of us! Wish everyone the best- cheers to another chapter in the books!

They told me that something happened to the case June 28th and that someone is looking at it now. They didn't explicitly say that someone was assigned to adjudicate the application. Wish I had better news than that. I am a little stunned that they didn't stamp passport... :/

Same thing happened to us today... they didn't stamp our passport either and told us to come back around the end of October since the GC expires 11/3. Eventhough our NOA receipt date is 8/10/16. Trying to stay positive....

Some officers are nice, and some are just being difficult. Of all the officers and adjudicators I have come in contact with, most of them are ok. I think you will be ok. For CSC filers, our uncertainty remains which is why we will apply 400 early next week. I think it might be a new norm for CSC filers having to apply 400 so they can get the ball rolling, it may prompt USCIS to combine the two and adjudicate.

I'm finding this time around the regular Customer Service reps are nicer than the Tier 2 Officers. I called when we got home and the Tier 2 officer told us to go based off of what the field office told us compared to what the phone Customer Service reps told us. He also suggested to go to the website and email VSC and ask for an update and they would get back within 1-15 days. In the event they don't respond to call back and ask for a Tier 2 Officer again. I asked him if he could see in the system if our case was assigned and he said they don't have access to that information (which isn't true). He was just pushing us off just like the other guy this morning... You guys are smart to file for the 400 to get the ball rolling cause I have seen you guys experiencing major delays compared to VSC.

If you're travelling or working, I'd go back, try again, and hope for someone else working the counter. The should have given you the I551 stamp but your status doesn't expire. You just don't have proof of work eligibility/travel.

In my case, they did take the GC and extend for only 6 months - I think it was because he was annoyed through no fault of our own. While he was still with the other group, who asked wayyyyy too many questions and wanted advice, he pushed the 'next' button so we were called to his counter. We waited the 5+ minutes until he was finished with them, but by then they had already moved on to other numbers at other counters so we were super awkwardly like "hey......you called our number?"

We aren't going to travel until we get the new GC approval. We are working, so that makes us nervous. I suppose every field office is different. I saw recently on this thread someone went to get their passport stamped and the agent declined to stamp because they follow the GC date not the NOA date. So they were told to go back within 30 days of the GC expiration date. Sounds like you didn't have the best experience in the field office either.

I think the officer did it on purpose just to annoy you and by creating  uncertainty. VSC has been approving cases left and right, so you are in a good place now, what the officer said to you is in direct contradiction of what is actually happening to VSC applicants, I think you will be approved very soon.

Thanks for the boost! Just blows all our minds the inconsistency of information and the lack of compassion from these employees. Granted there are some good ones... but these are people lives. It's nothing to mess around with or joke about. Wish you all the best as well!

  7. NOA 8/10/16 VCS

    Green Card Expiration Date 11/3/16

We called USCIS Service Center a couple of weeks ago to see if they recommended going to our local field office in Hartford, CT to get an extension stamp in the passport. The rep suggested to make an appointment prior to 8/10/17. We called again yesterday to confirm what documents were needed for the InfoPass appointment. They stated the Appointment Letter, Green Card, Passport, and NOA Extention Letter. Each time we called they confirmed the case was still at VSC and they didn't see if the was assigned to an officer yet.

We went to the InfoPass appointment today and had a friendly experience up until we had to speak with the local agent. The local agent called us to the window and asked why we were there. We explained that the NOA Extention Letter Receipt Date is 8/10/16 and would like to get a stamp in the passport for an extension. He asked for the Green Card and declined to provide a stamp in the passport since the expiration date of the Green Card is 11/3/16. He said to come back right before it expires to get a stamp. Also, he said to make a copy of the Green Card because they would be taking away the Green Card and that the stamp would take the place of the Green Card. We were accepting of this information and then asked the agent if he could kindly check our case in the system to see if there have been any updates. He declined to provide us information and said it was a waste of time because he already knows no action has taken place because it's taking two years to process these cases. Basically, he didn't want to be bothered or help us in any way today.

So needless to say it has been an unsuccessful day with no legitimate answers or clarification.

Hopefully, this will all end before the Green Card expires.

  8. I already have CC but need to submit a new AOS at the interview. On part 4 for the AOS it asks for the petitioners residence. My case is a little complex because my job, house, banks, life is in the USA. But I have been out of the USA for a littler over a year now so I could be with my husband during this long process... Italy has this documentation for spouses that is a permit to stay- it isn't a visa. So I am legally here because of that documentation...Should I put down my principal residence in USA or address where I am living Italy for the residence?

  10. That is great news.Congratulations. Perhaps we could take your old spot. That would of worked perfect for us. Was it just a phone call to the embassy? Again, so happy for you.

Thank you! Hopefully you can. You can not call the consulate about your visa. You must email them at ivnaples@state.gov

Include the beneficiary's last name and NVC case number and ask them nicely is there a sooner date available.

  11. Congratulations!!! I hope you have success at getting an earlier date. We will be very interested in your progress. Please keep us informed. Prayers for you and good luck on your interview.

Thanks so much! I will for sure keep you informed. I am going to start writing a review day from everything to date and then once I get the P4 letter, case arrive at embassy I will update it again and then after the interview of course update then too. I'll probably get it up later today. Prayers and all the best for you two and wishing you a CC ASAP! :)
