  1. Stackeria...! Hope your flight went well. Sorry we had no good news for you when you landed. Any chance you are (or anyone else is) planning to phone NVC today?

I know we are all feeling defeated and all thinking we aren't going to bother phoning again until someone else posts good news...but if all of us give up then we really will all just be waiting for our own emails. I guess that's what the NVC wants us to do. My theory? They are no longer giving interview dates over the phone. I have absolutely no evidence to support this theory other than none of us have interview dates yet!!

    22 days since case complete.

I just called NVC and spoke with supervisor Silvia and she confirmed no interview date for me yet and they started scheduling interviews yesterday and would not give a timeline. She was super vague and was like pulling teeth to get answers. :bonk::bonk:

  2. I haven't seen this question really addressed before so I am sorry in advance if it has recently. Basically I was looking at flights to the States from Europe at the end of October and November and for a one way they are high $1700-$2500 which is insane!!!! I looked at round trips and they are considerably less at $400-700. If we were to book a round trip instead of a one way is that fine for POE? Or are they going to give a hard time about it?

  3. It would be a valid reason I think if he had a time-sensitive contract already. But really, if they had empty slots that they don't expect to be filled, why wouldn't they reschedule anyway?

One thing for sure, you won't get rescheduled if you don't ask.

That's how I look at it too, with the open slots... I will for sure be calling as soon as the papers arrive to the embassy to check!

    Thanks!

  4. I didn't call anyone, but I emailed the Naples embassy several times to check on the status of our application and they were always fairly prompt to respond. I didn't end up formally asking them to schedule an earlier interview date, but emailed them many times with questions about when they were scheduling and what the likelihood of getting in during a certain week/month was, which may have helped our case but it's hard to say, there might have just been a cancellation. We were in a unique situation since the Naples embassy closed for the middle 2 weeks of August for vacation, so it was either the first week of August (which they originally said was very unlikely) or the last week of August or beginning of September. We got lucky with a August 5 appointment but they didn't give us much notice so there may have been a cancellation!

Great, thank you for the info!

  5. Contacting the Embassy would be a waste right now because they don't know of you. Your petition is at NVC. Until you get your interview scheduled than your petition gets sent to embassy once it arrives than you can request an earlier date and hope something comes through.

Thanks. I wasn't planning to call the embassy until I had the interview date and the docs at the embassy. :)

  6. I appreciate the insights everyone. Good to know that switching embassies slows down the process by months; we definitely will stay put with our original embassy then!

We didn't expedite at NVC because we thought they would be a bit faster and we'd have the interview by July, but now it's looking like September. I wasn't going to lie to NVC or the embassy about anything, of course... my husband has 2 important things coming up that he needs to be in the US for... one is a wedding of a close friend at the end of August, and the more important one is a potential job offer, his dream job in fact. I was worried the employer wouldn't be able to wait for him to start until September and would give the job to someone else instead. And I was wondering which reason would resonate better with the embassy if I ask them for an expedite, and if anyone has experience with this.

But the good news is I think if my husband does get the job offer, they sound willing to wait until September if needed. So I don't think we will need to ask for an expedite at the embassy after all! I wish they gave more advance notice of when the interview is scheduled for though, so we could plan our lives a little better.

I was thinking about calling the embassy to ask for a sooner interview date because we got CC this week and interviews are all closed for NVC until the first week of October, which then they will be scheduling for November. We want to get back to the US because we want him to start a job asap and by that time will be over a year for this whole process. Did you end up calling and asking for a sooner interview date?

  7. They're just stuck in a mass production mode. They won't schedule for October even if an embassy doesn't have a single October slot filled. Best option for an earlier date than scheduled is to wait until embassy has both your case and medical results and then request an earlier date. I just got my October interview shifted to the middle of next week with this approach. I would have fared better if my case didn't take two weeks to get to the embassy for some reason.

Congrats on getting it moved sooner! Did you have to give a reason to moving it up?

    All the best next week!!!

  8. It's like we were just on a conference call. This is verbatim what Reese just told me.

I agree it's difficult. Every step of this process fully tests my patience. I think they will start scheduling November in exactly one week. We'll just have to hang tight until then.

Haha they are good at being robots. 12 more days until October- hoping it goes by fast! I plan on calling the Embassy once they receive my papers to see if we can get an earlier one in October because Naples doesn't get very much traffic for visa cases. A majority is school or work visas...

  9. It can depend on embassy but for the most part NVC schedules about every 2 weeks for 2-3 days. There are usually 2 rounds of scheduling for each month. Based in past behavior we expect NVC will start scheduling November interviews in about one week.

Edit: check out the first post in this thread and the spreadsheet for some detailed info and data.

Thank you so much! That was very informative!

  10. Good luck for sure. I think they are speeding up right now. Hope your interview goes well. I am still hoping to be able to go to Naples with my wife at the end of November. I know its a slim chance but still holding out hope.

Thanks! I will keep you updated for sure on how the whole process goes. I plan on writing a review after we have the interview of this whole process since there isn't a whole lot of reviews for CR-1 visas in Naples. Fingers crossed you and your wife have an interview the end of November! At least by Christmas hopefully!

  11. Thanks. Ours are dated the 19th and 27th of August so I hope they won't expire. February 19th better not come to pass before interview.

You should be good then given you just paid the IV fee today. Your case seems to be moving along really well. We have to go get new ones on Monday because ours expires October 1st and 2nd and don't have CC yet so they will for sure be expired before the interview...

When was your last scan date? You should be very close to Case Complete.

July 28th. From my understand they are working on July 23rd scans today so hopefully the middle of next week we will hear something if they continue on this pace.
