  1. It has now been 98 days since my husband's interview, and we are still in AP. No reason given and the last time we heard from the embassy was Christmas Eve. All that they said was that AP usually takes 2 to 4 months (which is much longer than what they told us at the interview and longer than the estimate given on the embassy website). I just wish this part of the process was even a little bit more transparent. It's absolutely killing me to just sit here and wait and not have any control over this.

I contacted both of my Senators and my rep in Congress. Hopefully somebody can get something done, but I have pretty low expectations. I just feel so defeated and helpless.

  2. Sorry to hear that you got 221g. I hope he gets his second interview soon.

Didn't you send his original divorce certificate in the IV package? :huh2: If so, they should have it in the file, correct?

Yeah, we already sent the original. I think they're doing all this because 1. few people get divorced in my husband's country. It's more common to just get another wife if you're tired of the first one lol. and 2. even fewer people actually have their divorce recorded on paper. So I already knew that they would probably want to look into that document. I just thought maybe they would do that before the interview. But I should have known... Dakar is slow at everything... they even tried to call my husband and push his interview out to November 13th, no reason given. I emailed them to get it changed back to this week, but now I have the whole picture. I think they're behind in processing everything and just need time to catch up and get to my husband's case.

  3. Hi everybody. I know it's been a long time, but I just wanted to let everybody know what's going on.

I'm in Dakar right now with my husband (thank God, we hadn't seen each other in a year) and he had his interview this past Tuesday. They didn't let me come in the embassy with him for the interview - has anybody else experienced that or heard of that happening?

My husband did really, really well with all of the questions. And answered most of them in English, which I am so proud of him for doing that. I prepared a huge binder full of all the documents and evidence, but they only asked for one document - the divorce certificate from his first marriage. Since I prepared the binder, and we only briefly went over the contents (thinking that I would be with him to help him find stuff) he couldn't find it. They asked him to come back today with the document and gave him a form 221g. We went back this morning, they took the divorce certificate and told him to hang onto the 221g, our case is in AP, and they will contact him for a second interview in about 1 to 4 weeks. Not exactly the result we were hoping for.

I really wish there were more people on this website that had been to the Dakar embassy for their interview. There was one review on the country forum that said they didn't let the US citizen spouse in the embassy, but I thought it must have been a fluke. But I guess it's just a new policy. The security people outside were extremely rude and I had an overall terrible experience. My husband said that once inside the embassy everybody was really nice. I would really like to know if we can rely on their 1-4 week timeline for AP... I'm just so tired of people asking me when my husband will be coming to the US and all I can say is "I have no idea."

  4. I called on Friday last week, Sept 5th to get verbal confirmation that our case was complete as of Aug 29th. Received case complete email yesterday. Called tonight to check on interview and it had been booked.

So seems like they are scheduling just the way it's been explained on VJ.

I hope there will be a 2nd batch of Oct interviews scheduled soon, as I also still do not have an interview date and my CC was 26 August.

Sounds like a second batch to me! :star: Amanda4964, I bet we'll get our dates this week.

  5. So wonderful to hear this news. What a dizzy feeling you must had!

Come over to the Interviews thread, but first spread some karma so the rest of the July scanners would follow close at your heels.

Good timing as well... Someone got an interview scheduled today, so probably tomorrow the mid-month scheduling round will start in earnest.

Thank you! Luckily I was already playing hooky from work, so I had a nice little freak out moment in the comfort of my own home lol.

I have been saying my prayers that we would make it for mid-month scheduling, so let's hope you're right!!!

Wish everybody the best of luck! I will stick around to help and hear more good news, don't worry! B-)

  6. Yay, congratulations!

@nicholeMariev, CONGRATS!! So happy for you. Also looks like Yvette is the bearer of good news today because...

My AOS packet was approved today!!! I had to ask twice because all she said was, "well your first packet, AOS, looks good" So I clarified, " So my affidavit of support was accepted?" She replied, "Yep, it looks good."Scan date July 17th. I know it is no CC, but I am so happy! For the benefit of others I filed I-864EZ and I wrote NA all over that thing, not a blank space was to be found. I included my last three years tax transcripts, a letter from my employer, and 6 months of pay stubs.

Good luck to all, it's been a good week on VJ so far. With my IV scan date of 7/22... maybe I'll even see a CC this week? Who knows, a girl can dream, right?

Thank yooouuuuu! (F) Congrats to you too megwin, not surprised at all that you passed the AOS test with flying colors.

FYI everybody... CEAC shows N/A now :D I kind of want to call again tonight to see if we have an interview lol.... but I think I've had enough of that hold music for one day. We'll see.

  7. Helllo All

What should be the sequence of docs for IV docs.

    1) All Originals and then All Photocopies

    Or

Original then photocopy of all docs.

    Please suggest

    Thanks

This is what mine looked like: Barcoded cover sheet, written cover sheet, original civil doc 1, photocopy of civil doc 1, translation of civil doc 1, original civil doc 2, photocopy of civil doc 2, translation of civil doc 2..... etc. I also put a sticky note on all the originals stating that they were the originals.

I don't think the order really matters that much though. I wouldn't stress about it.

  8. What a relief!! Congratulations!!! :dancing::dancing::dancing:

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

So happy to see this, I've been quietly following your timeline :dancing:

    Congratulations! Thats awesome.

    Oh, WOW! Congratulations!!!!!!!1

CONGRATULATIONS

I just had a feeling that you have a CC irrespective of your PAID not changing to N/A

    Great Congrats......

How wonderful! Congrats to you! And an October interview, too! :dancing::dancing::dancing:

I dnt know you but I said "YAAAAY" out loud when I saw your news lol. Congrats!!

Thank you guys so much!!! I'm crying like a baby over here!!! Thank God I have you all that know exactly how important this news is.... I'm not even going to bother explaining it to anyone else until I have an interview date lol.

  9. I was filling form DS-260 but guys I need your help.

    1) In previous Work/Training information, the company where I had worked as "Intern" (would be considered as employment as I was paid) got relocated and apparently their phone numbers have changed. So should I be giving new address and phone number or the one when I was there with them? (On G325A biographic Information, old address was mentioned as it had not relocated then)

    2) Is it necessary to provide supervisor name or is it fine If I check do not know (I actually worked under two persons, so confused whose name should I give)

    Please give your valuable suggestions.

I personally would put the old address, since that is the address where you actually worked, and it will match your G325A. As for supervisor, I would pick one, maybe the one that has the highest opinion of you, and put it in there. Checking "do not know" is technically lying :P so I would just choose one.

  10. Fedex says my documents (IV package) has been delivered to NVC. So how long do they take to scan it into their system? How long should I wait before calling them?

Usually just a few days. I called like a week or two after.... because your scan date isn't going to change.... and it's going to be quite a while before they review it.... so really, you could call next week or the week after that and it wouldn't make any difference. ;)
