  1. hi guys, im preparding to start on the documents that r needed for the interview...but i have an issue decinding on who should be my co sponsor, should it be my fiances sister or his dad...both are eligable, but his dad doesnt have the same last name as him...do u think that can matter? is it better to choose the one who makes more?

  2. whenever you track it and it says ready, it means its already at the embassy in Warsaw.

yeah the ceac website says "ready"

    U.S. Department of State

    IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION

    Ready
Immigrant Visa Case Number: Case Creation Date: 15-Aug-2014 Status Updated Date: 19-Aug-2014

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:

  3. ok so i called nvc yesterday and they finally gave me the new case nr but the lady said our petition hasnt been sent off to Warsaw yet. i checked the status yesterday as soon as she gave it to me and it did say "at nvc". i checked again last night and it was "in transit". i checked just now and it says its "ready".....all that within 24 hours?! im confused. does that mean that our petiton reached warsaw already? but the nvc said yesterday they still had the petition...

  4. Some countries, I believe two of those areJamaica and Mexico, K-1 applicant's interview scheduled is arranged at NVC. Some others like me, the US embassy was scheduled for me, and the others like applicants from the Philippines are scheduled theirs by themselves. Check specific embassy how an applicant scheduled the interview.

i checked the link u provided with the warsaw embassy info and it doesn't really state whether the nvc schedules the interview for me or i do so myself....im really confused lol.

  5. hi guys, so today i called the nvc and they finally had our new case nr! they gave it to me and i typed it in on the ceac website and it was found in the system and said "at nvc". i have been checking the status all day lol and i just checked now and it says "in transit" and it also says

"Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center."

so...our petition has been sent off to the US embassy in my country, right?...BUT,

what do they mean that my interview date was provided to me by the NVC, lol? is that something that all people get or what? cuz im confused. nobody from nvc told me anything about interview or interview date.

  6. I'd received packet 3 along with my approved petition scanned and attached to it via email. They sent the physical petition along with all documents and pictures also to the US embassy as well but usually takes 2 weeks before it arrives - I saw mine when I had my interview-. Based on my experience, you should have communicated with the US embassy in Warsaw this month. Usually the embassy will make priority to those who their petitions are almost expired if applicants intend to pursue K-1 visa.

you mean i should contact my US embassy this month? i will, but don't they mail me once they receive our petition? or will they do that electronically....

and well we got approved april 18th and our case got lost and then got found thanks to the senator's help, so our new validity date is august 12-dec 12 lol

  7. Yes, it will say "In transit" when it is shipped out.

Wow, how does that happen, even after you read it back to them?! When I got my number and it kept saying it was invalid I called them back twice to make sure I had the right case number, I was even told that it wouldn't even show up on the CEAC status because they didn't think such a thing existed (huh??). I just had bad luck!

and once it gets to my US embassy, will it say "ready for interview"? and if so, is that when i can go on and schedule my interview....

and my US embassy will also inform me thru mail about all of this and what all i need for the interview right?

btw sorry for asking my questions in your thread.....i had JUST called the NVC and they gave me the new case nr and thankfully it's in the system. people there really should be more knowledgable tho....when i asked for the new case nr the lady sounded clueless, i had to ask again and they she was like "oh yes". and it couldn't have been her not understanding what i'm saying, these people there just...idk lol

  8. Later. Yes, if the approved petition goes under AP then it will be shown there as well. Very rare people sit under AP at NVC. Usually takes a few days before the electronic approved petition received at the US embassy from NVC. When the embassy received it and then it shows, " you are ready for the interview".

electronically? don't they send the physical petition thru mail to the country's US embassy/consulate?

Well our petition is FINALLY at NVC....i should probably be expecting the petition to get to my US consulate this month, right?

  9. hi guys......so we got approved april 16th and our petition had been lost until we contacted the senator and just today they informed us that our petition has finally been sent off to the nvc, next day shippment....when do u think would be best to call the nvc to ask for the new case nr? i was thinking friday, what do u think? if its gonna be there 2morrow...

also....any of u know how long u wait for the interview in poland?

  10. hi guys, me again. long story short: got approved april 18th, havent heard anything at all since until a week ago when the senator found out our peititon got sent to the national records center n not nvc...fiance just called the senator's office and they told him its now being sent back to cali service center...what the heck? why is it being sent there agin and not the nvc? and he called the nvc earlier today and they told him it takes up to 5 weeks for the peititon to get from nrc to nvc....

  11. Everything that is submitted at the interview eventually gets given back to you or placed the brown/yellow "do not open" envelope to bring back to the U.S. at your POE, which is then brought back to USCIS awaiting the time you apply for AOS. All foreign language documents must be translated which includes Birth Certificates, Police certificates, etc.

right but do i need to translate it all for the interview

  12. Hi there,

I have read a lot of confusion in this thread. I asked the question at my interview last week. When referring to a police certificate being required for countries you have resided outside of your current home country (excluding the u.s. which you do not need a police certificate for) they are referring to any countries you lived in i.e. were not a tourist on a holiday.

ok im glad, uve been so helpful!!! one less thing to worry about

Well.. I was so confused like you. I was in your shoes. I had to keep my f-1 visa valid and had to transfer from this school to that school haha.... I had 2 BS degrees. US does allows you to stay as F-1 as long as you pay the tuition on time.

If anything is in English, you DO NOT NEED to translate it ....of course.. =)

CALL USCIS OR NVC IF YOU STILL FEEL UNSURE ABOUT IT

BUT I SPENT SO MANY DAYS TO FIND OUT THIS INFO.

    ^^

well obviously ! :) but cant it be in the language that is the language of my country? where the interview takes place. same with medical stuff

  13. I had f-1 visa in the US for over 9 years. I was legally staying in the US as an international student. During the process of getting NOA1 and NOA2, they check applicant's and beneficiary's criminal records in the US. Do not need to even worry about it. Just make sure that you have PC from other countries where you lived longer than a year since you were 16. I came to Korea last year and I didn't spend a year here but I needed it.

get all translated into English. =)

i hope ur right but im still confused. isnt student visa for only as many years as university is...

and ive read somewhere that you only need to translate into english if its already not in english or if its in anothr language that the country's language...

  14. No, a resident is not necessarily a US citizen. A resident means you resided in the US legally. Someone with a green card is a legal permanent resident. In your case you resided here legally on student visas. It is basically saying if you resided in the US at anytime, past or present, you do not need a police certificate from the US. You just need them from anywhere else you resided for 6 months or more since the age of 16.

are u 100 % sure on this? discussion came alive..lol

  15. I had same question you had when I was preparing for the interview. What I found as the answer was.... you don't need to worry about getting police certificate from the US. I have lived in the US over 10 years and even before that, I had visited the US so many times and spent few months for vacation. You do not need to even worry about it !!!! :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dance::dance: Be happy!!!!!! =) You need to have police certificate from the country you are currently in. and If You have lived any other counties over a year after you turned to age of 16(?), you would need to get PC from those countries as well.

I lived in NZ for about 10 months, so I didn't need PC from NZ.:dance::dance:

Let me know if you have any other questions! =):dance:

lol um, but doesn't it say they need the police certificate when u lived in a country for over 6 months? and besides i was on two different types of student visa, 10 months at a time

  16. I google-d a bit on this, and I'm not finding firm answer on this.

The term "resident" is tricky and can possibly mean different things

in different situations (visa processing vs tax filing, etc.)

Therefore, at this point, here is what I wold do.

    1) Call NVC, Department of State, and/or local embassy for clarification on this.

    2) If you don't get a clear answer, then I would play safe and apply for the US police certificate.

    3) If US police certificate doesn't arrive before the interview, I would proceed with the interview,

and if they don't ask for it, then it's great!

    4) However, if they ask for it, then you can explain that you have requested it (by showing your receipt),

and they may let you get by (since they can look that up themselves)

or issue 221g to have you wait and submit that to them.

ah dang this is extremely confusing.....i also dont know cuz i mean being on a student visa is just that, how would that fall under the category of residency....but then again, i stayed 10 months at a time as an exchange student....if it takes 5 months im screwed. yeah ill call the nvc
