  1. Hello Everyone,

I need the communities guidance and assistance. A family member of mine is getting threatened by a former boyfriend. He is saying that he will kill her for not marrying him. He currently lives in Japan on a permanent resident card. Once he flew all the way over to Canada and tried to sneak into the US using fake passports. We don’t know if this is true but it is what he has said. He has tried applying for a US visa over ten times with rejections. We have found out that he has tried applying for a Diversity Visa this year too. Who or what department do we contact so that they can flag his file?

  2. No news might be good news. We just got a letter in the mail dated 02/28/18 and it was an RFE!!! We've never gotten that before😐😐😐 It says we've failed to establish good faith marriage because we didn't send actual transactions on bank accounts and credit cards, and the 2015 taxes weren't signed and "did not provide supporting evidence to corroborate the information reported." What does that mean??? What evidence do we have to send for taxes?? It also says that photos did not cover all the marriage but we sent so so many, From anniversaries, trips to Turkey Disneyland and local spots.

I really didn't think this would be an issue. Our baby is even turning 1 soon!!

Aby by advice on what to send would be greatly appreciated!

I started by checking online at midnight... With no luck for a few days. One night I logged on at 10pm by chance, and there were just appts there! They do go fast though... Not much time for debating which appt will work with your schedule, which sucks! Have your information ready, as it asks you to put in your GC number etc to book it. I actually chose a time, and by the time I'd entered my info, it said it had gone!!! So I quickly chose another, and got it!

Keep checking, all different times of the day... They'll be there! Good luck!

Thank you! I’m up right now checking!

There is a minute chance of receiving a misdemeanor charge for no proof of status and depending on where you live, detention for no proof. Extremely unlikely but I read of a US citizen who was detained recently until she could produce her passport (hopefully she sues). I'm fear-mongering, I'll admit,  but I figure in the current climate it's good to have all bases covered where possible.

That's so scary! We've been trying to get an info pass but to no luck! Any tips?

  5. Hello all,

i have been been trying to make an info pass appointment for the pst month but with no luck! My husband and I wanted to go on vacation but now we're going to have to stay in the US.

I have tried going on at all times of day, but  I still receive the same message of no appointments available. Any tips?

The last time we travelled his green card was still valid because of the year long extension letter, but now the extension letter is also expired. Will we be safe going on a road trip from CA to NY? Don't want to face the threat of deportation or anything like that.

  6. You should also have tax statements from 2014, since he entered the US in 2014. If you filed MFS, then both of your tax statements for 2014 should be included.

I can't tell from your list - you need the credit card STATEMENTS in addition to the copies of the credit cards themselves.

What is your living situation? Do you have a joint lease or mortgage? If you live with relatives, do you pay them a monthly rent from a joint account? Do you have mobile phones with a joint bill? Other utility bills with both names?

Do you have wills and medical powers of attorney? These will be a MUST when that baby comes, but you should have them now.

Do you have medical insurance coverage for both of you?

Are you the emergency contacts for each other at your workplace(s)?

Add copies of your driver's licenses showing you live at the same address.

Best of luck to you - and your soon-to-be-born child!

    Sukie in NY

So I don't have any of those things that you listed and only because when he moved here he didn't have any credit established so everything had to be under my name.

I did have him on my life insurance from my old job, but I'm not working there anymore and I don't have a copy of that. We also share car insurance.

So we don't currently live at the address on our dl, so idk if it's even worth it to send those copies.

I lost the 2014 return but I'm sure my tax agency still us a copy. I'll add that.

  7. Hello all,

  8. Hello,

My husband and I want to travel to Turkey for 4 days and his home country (Afghanistan) for about 35 days.

He was given his CPR card around the end of November of 2014. We plan on traveling around July 4, 2016 to August 14, 2015. At the time we plan on leaving he will have about 4 months before his CPR card expires. When we come back he will have about 3 months left on his card.

Will he have any trouble entering again? I only knew that we have to start the process of lifting his conditional status 90 days before it expires. My sister in law said that he can't travel if he has less than 6 months on his CPR card and that we would have to try to get him an extension. I don't understand how that would work because we can only start the process for the 10 year card once the 90 day window begins. Is what she's saying true? If so, what do we do? Is there a number we can call to check this out?

  9. Hi,

You have stuff that is not needed.

    You only need the following;

    I-130, mom's GC, daughter's birth certificate with mom's name, and $420.

Don't need G-325a, I-864, or I-485. The I-864 will not be needed for 7+ years. The I-485 only applies for those adjusting with a current PD.

Thank you so much! That saves me a whole lot of money.... for now

sorry, PD is priority date? And that can be found on the visa bulletins?

  10. Hi,

I am assembling a packet for my mother-in-law's daughter for the I-130. She falls under the F2B category, she is over 21 but unmarried. My mother-in-law has had her green card for about eight months now.

I have searched the site for guides or any examples of a checklist that would be needed for the I-130 packet. I used the site's guides for my husband's AOS and it was so detailed and helped greatly. Now I am reaching out to the community to see if anyone can offer any help.

This is what I have assembled for the packet so far:

    • Form I-130 with $420 fee
    • MIL green card copy
    • MIL birth certificate copy with translations
    • MIL passport copy
    • Daughter's birth certificate copy with translations
    • Daughter's passport copy
    • G-325A for MIL and Daughter with passport picture (x3) behind each form
    • I-864 with copies of tax transcripts, pay stubs, bank account statements.
    • Pictures of mother and daughter for relationship proof

Do I need to file form I-485 with the original I-130 packet or does that come after the approval. I see on the "Step bu Step" for I-130 for Spouse it is needed, but I do not know if it is needed for the daughter?

Is there anything else that I am missing?

    Thanks!!

  11. I have those as well, my mailperson opens the entire side from the front, there are no names on the outside just numbers , but i did write the last names where he can see it as he loads the mail

Sorry, I'm only asking because you mentioned that you were a supervisor at USPS

Do you have any clue as to why it was never even sent to my local post office? I mean I would understand if they sent it to my local post office and then my mailman was like "hmm his name is not on here, let me send it back." But it never even made it to that point so that's why I am so confused.

Could it have nothing to do with the name and just have been an error on USPS' side?

  12. There is no such thing as no as registering at the post office . If there is no name or last name on apartment or condo mail boxes . We will not deliver mail to that box. Or if it's even open and your name is on the box. Tony. USPS delivery supervisor.

Hi! We live in a house but we have those big metal mail boxes where everyone has their own key. There wasn't an issue with the EAD or anything. I'm sorry but I don't understand your comment.

If there isn't a name you won't deliver mail to the box? But also, if their is a name you won't deliver it?

The thing is that my husband's greencard didn't even make it to my local post office! It went from the original place to San Jose, Sacramento, Oakland, then Lees Summit. I live 45 minutes away from San Jose.

  13. do you have a name card with all the names of the humans there, inside of your post box thingie? if no, make one, today, tape it up so the postal carrier can see it. Is quite possible, for that one day, it wasn't your normal postal carrier, and the replacement fella just didn't care about it.

I hate this, when it happens, as postal carriers rarely get it right when a greencard is 'nixed back to USCIS. I had this issue with my wife's greencard also, took a congressional inquiry to retrieve it out of the TSC and head back to us.

Sorry you're having troubles, really !

Its okay, but thank you for your kind words!

It didn't even make it to my area. It was sent back from San Jose, to Sacramento, to Oakland, then Lees Summit. I live 30 minutes away from San Jose.

Can you please explain why you had to do a congressional inquiry and how you went about it? I am hoping I don't have to go through that!

  14. So weird everyone. Just wanted to share this in case anyone else experiences this in the future.

So my husband's case was approved and then on Novemeber 24, we received an update saying that the card was mailed! They didn't provide a tracking number though.

Today I got another update saying that card was mailed!!! We were like WHAT? I checked USCIS website and now that it moved onto the delivered stage it provided a tracking number. When I checked it it stated it was delivered to LEES SUMMIT. So I called uscis and after being rebadged I was put on hold for about 50 minutes. When I spoke to the man on the phone he wanted to reassure that our address was current, which it is. He then said it's possible because my husband isn't registered at the post office for the address! So weird because all of his other papers and EAD came without an issue. But he requested that they resend it with "in care of" my last name. He said the card or either a letter should be here by Wednesday. We live with my parents. I hope it comes by Wednesday it's been so long!
