  1. My fiance and I are in a bind. Our financial situation is not good. I am a college student about to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in May and finding a full time job will be very hard to do. I could work a few years in fast food and hope I am good enough to get a manager position at full time but I really don't want to wait so long for us to be together. Everything else in our application looks great. My dad refuses to sign the affadavit of support as a cosponsor. My uncle might sign and I have a friend who will sign for sure. But I don't think that a friend looks that great?

So here is my problem. If I cannot find a full time job, I will be enrolled in a Master's program where I can take out loans for living expenses, as my tuition will be free because I did well in my undergraduate studies. With these loans I will have more than enough money to support my fiance and I but it just doesnt show that on paper, as I will not have a full time job to show for. I will only have a cosponsor as a friend. My fiance is in Egypt by the way.

What are the chances for our denial and what can I do? I don't want to wait my life away getting a master, finding a job and after 10 years finally being with my husband. :(

  2. I-129F petition does not fall under the USCIS fee waiver.

Merrytooth, this was very helpful. Though I am a little confused. Do you mean that fee waivers cannot be used for the K1 visa application?

Also, if they can be, do I submit the fee waiver application with my general k1 visa application?

I'm sorry. I don't understand the numbers of the forms. I'm just now researching all of this! So confusing!

  3. If my fiancee is approved to come to the United States to marry me, do we have to get married in my state of residence or can it be in another state? I live in Pennsylvania but I go to school in South Carolina. Could we get married in South Carolina?

Can my cosponsor be a friend rather than a relative like my parent? Or if it is not likely I could get my parents to be a cosponsor would my uncle be a good choice?

Also, while I am applying for the K-1 Visa and waiting for results, his interview, etc, can I be in his country, Egypt, doing a Master's program or do I need to be in the US for the duration of the application until complete approval?

I am a college student and do not have a stable job. Would applying for a waiver hurt my chances of acceptance by showing I cannot support my fiancee, or would I even get a waiver?

    Thank you so much!
