Thanks for the reply. I've been trying to schedule an infopass appointment for a while, every single day it says this: Currently, there are no available appointments. Please check again tomorrow. Please note: USCIS offices in the United States only show available appointments for the next 14 days. Check back tomorrow for new appointment times.

Maybe USCIS just doesn't require me to provide biometric information? I was reading the forums, this has happened in the past (trying to stay positive).

My husband has not received a biometrics letter either - or we completely missed it! His NOA1 date is 6/5/2017 and we had a baby 6/6/2017 so I was not really paying attention to the mail waiting for the biometrics letter.

I am going to have him call today or tomorrow to inquire about this. I hope we didn't miss the appointment letter in the mail!

  2. It sounds like there have been several people recently denied in Havana. Whenever I was going through this process for my fiance (now husband), everything I read about the interview process for Cuba here on visa journey said to make every effort possible to be present with your fiance at the interview. It sounds like those who were recently denied were not there for the interview. I'm not saying that is the only reason for the denial - but for those going through this process in Cuba in the future - GO WITH YOUR FIANCE TO THE INTERVIEW!!! :)

  3. Sorry you are going through this. You can always reapply and submit additional evidence. You mentioned that you were not at the interview nor was there anyone to vouch for your relationship. Maybe next time you can go for the interview or submit written affidavits from friends/family vouching for the legitimacy of your relationship.

You also mentioned that your fiance does not speak english - do you speak spanish? Other concerns may be the number of times you've visited Cuba since you started dating. Or maybe if your fiance has close/immediate family members already in the USA - or if your fiance has tried to get a visa to the US in the past but was unsuccessful. When I was there for my fiance's interview in 2014, the lady interviewing us had print outs from my social media pages. Maybe they saw something on a social media page that caused concerns?

During our interview they asked us the following questions:

    To my fiance (in Spanish):
    -where do you work?
-have you traveled to other countries? how long was your trip?
-have you ever been a part of the communist party?
-she asked about the specifics of an item on his police report..how old he was when it happened, what was his punishment, etc

    To me (in English):
    -when did you meet?
-how many times have you returned to cuba to visit?

    -do you speak Spanish?

So really there wasn't many questions about our relationship aside from when we met and how many times i've visited. I don't know your exact situation - but it seems like the person interviewing your fiance had some information that caused concerns. Hopefully you two can address whatever the concerns may be and re-apply.

    Best of luck!

  4. So sorry that you're going through this. Have you tried reaching out to your local senator to see if they can inquire on your behalf? When we were going through the process - I remember people asking their senators for help during this stage. So it may be worth a try. It seems like after 5 months they should know the outcome of your case - no reason to make you wait!

  5. i had an electronic copy of my husband's passport photo that i printed at a local store. i did have his original signature on the letter of intent - I got that on one of my trips to Cuba. Do you know anyone who will be traveling between Cuba and the US in the near future? If so, maybe you can arrange them to bring back the items you need. There are also carrier services out of Miami, Florida that will take things to Cuba for you. We sent a phone to my mother-in-law a few months back using one of these companies and paid about $30-40 for the delivery.

  6. the i-485 instructions say to "submit a copy of your foreign birth certificate or other record of your birth that meets the provisions of secondary evidence found in Title 8, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 103.2 (b)(2)". Have you researched that federal code 103.2 (b)(2) to see what it says? It might be worth looking into.

My husband is also from Cuba. I read through the AOS documents prior to his arrival to the US and realized that he would need to bring some documents with him for the application. I'm glad I did - because I'm not sure he would have thought about this on his own. I hope you guys are able to figure something out!

  7. i wasn't able to find much information on VJ - but we had some friends in cuba inquire of the immigration office at the airport (in Holguin) to see if we could get any info on using the EAD/AP combo card to return to the US from cuba. one of our friends spoke with the head immigration officer at the airport and they said they did not recommend traveling to cuba with the combo card. it would be very risky because they are instructed not to allow people on US-bound flights unless they have a US passport, a US visa or a US residency card. we even sent a picture of his card for reference and the immigration officer said that would not suffice.

i'm not sure if the immigration officer was providing accurate information - or if this case in all airports in cuba...but we decided not to take the risk.

  8. This is the latest status update (assume the same for 765):

"On March 4, 2015, we approved your Form I-131, Application For USCIS Travel Document, Receipt Number xxxxxxxxxxxxx. We will mail your approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go towww.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

i also received that message on my AP (I-131) case number. so your I-765 case number has the same status?

for I-131 - i received a notice in the mail saying it was approved about 5 days after i received the status you listed above.

for I-765 - i received the "card in production will be mail" and "card mailed" status changes. i received the card approx 10 days after the initial status change (to "card in production..."). if i were you, i'd call the USCIS to make sure everything is okay. it's been almost 20 days since your approval - the trend right now seems to be that you receive the card within 10-15 days after approval. you're at 20 days.

  9. Hey everyone. Got approved for the combo card on 3/4 and went to check the mail today but no card yet. Our online status hasn't changed from "approved" either. What is the typical turnaround for receiving the card?

it normally takes about 10 days to receive the combo card after it is approved. there are two USCIS status updates you should receive related to the EAD/AP combo card. The first is says something along the lines of "new card in production and will be mailed to the address on file" and the second is "card was mailed to you". They mail the cards via 2 day priority mail - so you should receive it within a couple days after getting the "card mailed to you" update.

have you received both status updates?

  10. My husband received his EAD/AP combo card last week and is thinking about traveling back to Cuba to visit family next month. Is there anyone with recent experience travelling back from Cuba using AP? I am mostly concerned about going back through immigration in Cuba when he is returning. Are they familiar with the EAD/AP combo card? Will my husband need any additional documentation outside of the EAD/AP card? I don't want him to get stuck in Cuba! Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  11. we received my husband's combo card on 3/18. we got the "mailed" status update on 3/16 and a "delivered" updated on 3/18. the tracking number was included in the "delivered" update - which seemed a bit strange to me. no need to track it if the card had already been delivered. either way - we're happy to have this step out of the way.

now just waiting on AOS news. whenever we sent in our RFE documentation, the "RFE Documentation Received" status update said that we'd receive an update on AOS on or before April 19. So hopefully we'll have some news there within the next month. i'm expecting to receive an "interview waiver letter" since that seems to be the trend for K-1s.

  12. has anyone received the EAD/AP combo card in the mail without receiving a tracking number status update? my husband's EAD status changed to "card mailed" on Monday, March 16 and we still haven't received a tracking number update. it seems like most people get the tracking number update within a day after the card mailed status.

I only received a tracking number for my EAD/AP combo card after my card was delivered to me!

i just received the same update this afternoon (card delivered with tracking number). thanks for the response!

  13. Our petition was received at TSC on OCT 7th and we just received our NOA2 date March 10th. It seems TSC are the slowest ever but they will get to you. I think there average is 5 months so don't panic till past then. Try not to think about it too much and just hope that this month is the month.

You filed a 1-130....which is not the same petition as the OP. So your timelines won't be comparable.
