  1. Anybody here who are done with the interview at US embassy manila, How long is the interview? will it take whole day? My original interview is last February 11 but I cancelled it due to lacking requirements so I rescheduled it on March 6 at 6:30am. I plan to buy roundtrip ticket already from davao to manila and vice versa. I assume that the interview is just one day so I can just go home by 5 or after that. Anybody here what do you think? Is the interview done in one day only?

The speed of the interview is a case to case basis. From my own experience, my husband and I got there later than my interview time. We got there around 8 in the morning when my interview time was set at 6:15 am. We finished at 2 pm ( note: they have lunch break at 12 noon to 1PM . But there are people or couples there came before me and were still waiting to be called and I was ahead of some of them.

    Good luck to your interview!rolleyes.gif

  2. Hi sportymom! smile.pngnvc didnt send us an interview letter since we were expedited, they just sent the case directly to manila and told us to do the scheduling with the embassy. I have read that applicants can do the medical in advance even without the interview letter, they just have to present a letter from the nvc with the case number. I just want to know if the letter that they meant is the same as what i have here on hand.

If that is the case, I personally advise you to call the US Embassy before you make your trip to Manila. Good Luck to both your medical exam and interview! smile.png

  3. Our case is now in transit to usem and im planning to have my medical exam done in advanced. However, we dont have an interview schedule yet since our case was expedited. What document do i need to bring if i dont have the interview letter?

Is it the VERY FIRST email attachment i received from nvc containing my case number, invoice id number, beneficiary id number, us department of state logo and a couple of barcodes, and instructions to complete ds261???

I just really want to make sure since i will still be flying all the way from visayas. Pls enlighten me. Thanks! smile.png

They will ask for the interview letter from the NVC before they conduct your medical exam. It is very important. You should have it soon, so no need to rush into it without your letter.

  4. so i met my husband because of my bestfriend just so happens my bestfriend is my husbands cousin will the embassy see this as something bad like a set up or something i mean we love eachother and we have a son together im just worried this will affect us because we got married only 9 months after meeting eachother but i was pregnant only 6 month after meeting him yes i know is quick but we just knew their wouldnt be anyone else for us

it's hard to understand what you are trying to say. Did you mean you have a son together before you two got married? and that you have been married 9 months now?

  5. Hi guys...

I already sent my husband documents and requirements to file for our I-130. He plans to file it next month. My question is I heard that filers who has beneficiaries from Philippines can request for expedite. I live in Luzon, actually we were not affected ny Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda since it attacked the Visayas. but are we eligible to request for an expedite? And if we file it next month, can we request it right away? And how can we request? Are we going to call USCIS or mail a letter? Thank You.

Requests for expedite is a case to case basis. If you live in the area affected by the Haiyan typhoon, you'll get it, otherwise, you have to go through the same process just like everybody else does. If I may ask, what is your ground for expediting?

  6. Hi everyone I recently made a request to expedite my case, my case is already completed and I was wondering if i did the correct thing to get a faster interview date due to the fact I am 6 months pregnant and dont want a interview close to my due date. Also if its possible how long does this take?

Normally, they send the interview letter close to two weeks from the time they completed the case. The interview date schedule is about 3 weeks from the date you received your interview letter. I am not sure about the expedite, but I do hope they make considerations...

  7. Without a SSN, she will need to file a W-7, to get an ITIN, so they can file joint taxes. That requires sending the original passport, or a US embassy (in the country that issued the passport) authenticated copy.

I am sorry..... What I meant with "They don't need her passport" was they don't need her Original Passport to send from Philippines to US

What she needs to do is: Photocopy her passport, go to the US Embassy in Manila and they can authenticate her Passport and/or documents to send to the States. US Embassy here even do that. They can coordinate with the IRS in the States. The only time she gives her passport is when she is Visa approved right after the interview and that happens at the US Embassy.

  8. Hi fellow VJers...

I just called JRS Express (Courier Service here in the Philippines) and asked them how much it is to send my original passport in US. I am looking for a cheaper courier than FedEX. The guy told me that US customs banned sending Passports in America. They said they received the memo last November. Is this true?? If its true how can U send it to my husband. He needs it to file for his income tax next month...

    Please help...

That is a bit confusing... They don't need your passport when filing his tax return.

  9. I am getting ready to file I-130 for my wife who is currently in Honduras.

One of the requirements is to show evidence of a bonafide marriage. I am

sending about 15 pictures and many letters/cards with the application.

Is that enough? Is it mandatory to send sworn Affidavits from friends?

    Thanks for your help!

Aside from the ones mentioned, it would also help to send them copies of your passports stamps (including the old passport if there's any) to show that you are travelling back and fort to her country.

  10. Thank you sport for your quick respond unfortunately at that time when I received the message i contacted the NVC to ask if what is that mean saying for and they were told me that our case has been complete and waiting for schedule interview time to set up

meanwhile i insist about the status in CEAC and said it would update that later when status of our case for interview will have been change

Definitely the letter we had received were same situation of waiting for schedule interview?

You are welcome! Happy to help! dancin5hr.gif Yes, your letter of interview will come next. More or less two weeks... It will be pretty fast. The next thing you know, you are done...! It took us about almost 11 months for the entire process including the Visa on hand... but it's worth the wait and every single bit of it.... dancin5hr.gif

  11. Thank you sporty for your respond i have to re post this message "INSTRUCTIONS FOR: xxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx xxxxxxxx

  13. i just got done my interview last January 7, 2014 and the fil consul she give me 221g and need to send some documents because my hubby got a low income. So Thursday i sent my co-sponsor documents. so the question is how many days or weeks to be visa on hand?

    thank you and god bless!

I have a relative with the same case. It took her little over 3 weeks to get the visa from the time they submitted the documents needed. She was also under 221g after her interview.

  14. It doesn't make sense to hire an attorney in India if your wife is migrating to US. They know little about what needs to be done. If you are to hire an immigartion attorney, it should be from the US. Personally, you don't need an attorney. Most people here, do it themselves. You jus have to read and read and read... Check and check and check, make sure you have everything they asked for before you send it... Signatures should be in ink. Forms should be submitted original with signatures not scanned and not xerox copy... you can photocopy them but that serves as your copies ( it is your choice ).
