  1. Hi kitthekat! Just curious, when we went to the civil surgeon, they said my St. Luke's Sealed CD was useless to them. Everything turned out ok, he gave me a tb test. My question is, so there's no need for this st. Luke's cd anymore??? I don't need to submit it when I file for AOS EAD AP? Thanks so much !!!

are you not between the ages of 18-64? if you are, as i posted earlier, you only need the MMR and Dtap to complete the requirements for AOS:

first you will need the vaccinations done - you can get this done at your local county health clinic, walgreens, etc. anywhere that will give you documentation proving you had the shots. these are often done for much cheaper than at the civil surgeon's clinic. if you are between 18-64, you need MMR and Tdap. You don't need varicella because St. Luke's marked "VH" on your DS-3025, which means you have had chicken pox before. You don't need the influenza shot because it is not the flu season.

  2. Thanks so much for ALLLL the helpful info kitthekat !!! :) :) :)

The USCIS hotline is staffed by employees who are given pretty much zero training on immigration laws and requirements. It's likely the OP talked to a Tier 1 officer who was all too ready to agree to whatever the OP wanted to hear, so that she could hang up and get on with the next incoming call.

What everyone has told you so far about not being able to work until you have the EAD card physically in hand is accurate. Sorry that post got your hopes up. :(

What you can do is try to expedite your EAD based on a pending job offer - see this post for details: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/453753-how-to-request-to-expedite-your-ead-based-on-a-job-offer/

  3. Oh ok got it! Thanks so much :)

  4. Thanks all, but what about this post I read from the link I posted above? "I was in the same boat. I ended up being offered the job even though they knew I was waiting for my EAD and were prepared to wait. Interestingly, I received a call from HR saying after studying their forms, they believed I could start work before my EAD was physically in my hand, something that the USCIS backed up when I phoned them." Oh btw, I am filing my AOS and EAD at the same time.

  5. Hi kitthekat!

County health dept told me that these are the costs of the vaccines : dtap 45, mmr 60, polio 35, measles and mumps 60, hep a 40, hep b 45, meningococcal 100 and pneumococcal 70. So all in almost 500 wow, not cheap at all. Is this pretty much how it costs? Thanks!!!

then, you need to take the papers/records showing you received the vaccines to the civil surgeon and ask him to transcribe them onto the I-693. look through this list of civil surgeons to find one in your area that will not try to charge you for a whole new medical that you don't need: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/231026-civil-surgeons-who-dont-rip-you-off/ - some of the reviews have prices listed as well.

  6. I have read conflicting accounts on whether one can or cannot work while waiting for an EAD. I'm k-1. Would really appreciate to know which is which. I've seen this post where the poster was definitely allowed by USCIS to get employment while waiting for their EAD. I would really like to help my spouse as soon as I can financially, so it would really help significantly if I can work while waiting for my EAD. Thanks!!! :)

  7. Thank you kitthekat :) So excluding influenza and varicella shots, I will need all the shots listed in the DS-3025? (even when for example I've already had my mumps vaccine when I was in school?) Thanks!!! :)

  8. vaccines can be had for much cheaper at the local county health clinic. if you can find a civil surgeon who is willing to simply "transcribe" the vaccination records from local clinic to the I-693 at a much cheaper cost, that is an option to consider. :)

Hi kitthekat :) Can you kindly explain this further? Thanks! "if you can find a civil surgeon who is willing to simply "transcribe" the vaccination records from local clinic to the I-693 at a much cheaper cost, that is an option to consider. :)"

Also, just so I have a basis, would you know how much it would roughly cost? Thanks!

  9. Did you get any vaccinations at you medical? Can you block out the personal information on your DS-3025 and post it?

Hi all, I REALLY appreciate all your help, thanks so much :) Just noticed that it's become heated somehow :) I know though that everyone's intentions are good, which is to help, so thanks to each and everyone who's been replying. I just hope we can all cool down a bit :dancing:. Here is my D-2053. Sorry for the sloppy lines as I made the photo edit on my phone. They did not give me any vaccines in SLEC Phils (Sorry for the confusion, I meant I had partial vaccination in the Philippines when I was still in elementary -- mumps, typhoid, polio, measles-- I told SLEC this and they told me that I had the option to complete my vaccination in the US which I agreed to. But I finished the SLEC medical aside from the vaccinations.) The only notes I can see on my D-2035 are "VH" for Varicella and "Note" K1 prefers to be immunized in the US." Thanks!!! :goofy:

  10. Thanks SO MUCH to all who replied. I got quite confused though reading the exchange regarding the I-693 and DS 2035. Can you kindly tell me in summary what to actually do regarding this pls? :) :) :) I had the medical exam in the Philippines but when they told me that as a K-1 I had the option to take the vaccines in the US then I chose that option. Thank you!!! :)

In my very first post I mentioned the I-693 would be required for special medical conditions ....

And yes I know some have gotten RFEs for not having the I-693, and many times I am betting it wasn't because of a vaccination issue or medical issue but under-educated adjudicator issue. I say this because I know of a couple that just recently did this process sending in the DS-3025, got all the way to the interview and was told by the adjudicator that they need the I-693 with which they pulled out page 4 of the instructions pointed to section 7c, when the adjudicator read that he excused himself from the room (had to go ask someone) then came back and said all was fine and they are approved. End of story.

  11. Hi there :)

K-1 here and we are preparing to file for my AOS EAD and AP in a single package. Can you kindly tell me if I missed out on something or any tips for filing? PLS NOTE that I had my partial vaccination in the Phils and was told that i can take the rest here in US. Thanks soooo much!!!

    My questions :

    1. Is this complete, I really don't want to make a mistake :)

    2. Does it help that I will have three cover letters and repeated items for each of the three documents like passport photos, marriage certif?

    3. I saw a link that there's a special filing regulation for those in Texas but I couldn't open the link, is this true?

    4. Does anyone have an idea how much my additional vaccines will cost?

    THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!!

  12. Hi all :)

From k-1 I am planning to mail out my AOS EAD and AP forms next week. What is the exact fee right now and how much additional for that thing where they advise you that they've received the package? Thanks sooo much !!!! :)

  13. Thanks everyone! Hank what is the benefit or necessity of changing my name on my Philippine passport? Thanks so much!

    passport

No it is not crucial, it is not part of the visa process it is a Philippines thing. Report Of Marriage is to have your marriage recorded at NSO in the Philippines. If you plan to renew your passport in your married name you will need to complete ROM before doing the renewal.

Report of Marriage is only for keeping NSO/Philippines informed of the marriage. See above /\

  14. Hi to all :)

Kindly help me about this ROM process:

    1. Is this as crucial as the AOS EAD AP steps ? It's been 31 days since we got married, is this ok?

    2. Do we have an updated step by step guide to filing it?

    Thanks sooo much!!!

  15. Yup complete AOS and file EAD and AP at the same time (free to do then). The GUIDE here on VJ is pretty good for AOS except for the info on the I-693.. that is slightly inaccurate (as in it is not needed, a copy of the DS-3025 is good for most).

Then don't forget to do the Report of Marriage through the consulate, this can be done by mail.

Hi Hank! :dancing: I noticed that in the checklist for AOS, EAD, AP application, I-325 and I-864 are included again. If I'm not mistaken, we already filled out these two forms previously as they were required for the I-129 package. Does this mean we need to fill up these two forms again or will the old ones suffice? Thanks!!!
