  1. Our paperwork was lost 4 times. All which were sent in by courier and signed for. Been playing this game with them since March 25, 2014 and still sitting in Canada waiting for this process to finally end 22 months later. Talking to a superviser is wasting your time. Send them in again and also email them.

  2. Almost 2 years for me to and still waiting. There are no limits on a spouse visa but there is certainly a wait for everything else. You will not be through the process by March 2015. It is not possible. I have had my NOA2 approval since March 25, 2014 and still sitting on my thumbs It is still at NVC waiting. We are not trying to disappoint you. It really sucks but it's the truth.

  3. Getting your NOA2 will take a while. I am Canadian. This will be our 2nd Anniversary in separte countries on Jan 11th. We filed our papers in April 29, 2013. Got our NOA on May 2, 2013. Got our NOA2 on March 25, 2014 (11 months later) and this whole process of 22 months later and I am still waiting for NVC to pass me over to the Montreal Consulate. AOS, Civil Docs, DS-260, all sent & Fees all paid since the 1st week of June 2014. They have lost our paperwork 4 times since with a receipt from the courier that they have infact got the paperwork. Each time we re-sent all the paperwork it added another 60 days each time for review. Still nothing. We have a senator involved now and amazingly they admit they have all the papers now. All 4 sets of them but now we still sit yet another 60 days for review. It is a long & frustrating journey. As all have told me, sit tight and be patient. It will happen.

  4. I filed this process back in April 2013 and still waiting. The kids are in the US and now almost 2 years older than when I left. I have only talked to the kids on the phone for over 22 months and our dog spends most of his time at the kennel. My husband has been juggling the kids and work for all this time on his own. He is a pilot and out of state 4 days a week. It is getting very expensive. I get to see him for 2 days every 3-5 months depending if he can actually get a flight up here around his schedule and the kids in school. We figure by the time this process is done we will have lost everything we own.

  5. There is no age gap of 20 years or any years. You just have to be legal to marry. With a HUGE age gap, I suppose they could give you a little harder time at the interview. If you have the proper paper work and have evidence of your relationship it is not up to immigration to decide what age category you should choose from. That would be discrimination and they are not allowed to do that. Relax and get all your ducks in a row.

  6. I asked the same question. With my husband being a pilot, gave me the opportunity to ask Customs that exact question to prepare me for when I go through the airport. Here is your answer. It will take approximately 30-45 minutes to clear customs. (Depending on who you get can be 10 mins) International travel is suppose to arrive 2 hours before the flight anyway. BIG HINT....Customs said to ask the ticket agent as soon as you arrive to call customs and let them know you are there and if they could send someone to collect you at the ticket counter. If you wait for the line up to proceed to security and claiming forms...YOUR GONNA MISS YOUR PLANE !!! Better safe then sorry...2.5 hrs before flight is perfect.

  7. I don't understand. We have sent certified copies of civil docs & AOS 3 times and 3 times they lost it. The NVC signed for the papers with the courier and date stamped but held no responsibility for ever receiving it. So we sent them for the 4th time a week ago thursday. Tuesday our lawyer got an email from NVC stating they got the documents but we would have to re-send with all the originals because they wouldn't except the certified copies. Now they are taking just photocopies....seriously. We are really really starting to think that the NVC is screwing with us. We have been sending in this paperwork repeatedly since the middle of June. We are at 20 months of this ridiculous process.

  8. I sent my docs by courier on July 19, 2014. They were received & signed for on July 21, 2014. They were put in the system Sept 11, 2014. Called NVC, they told me they were put in the system Sept 11, 2014 and they had 60 business days to review them. Doesn't seem fair to wait over 4 months but hands are tied. Still waiting patiently. We contaced a senator a month ago but they can't do anything.

  9. We are at 18 months now and told it will take another 60 days to review our AOS & Civil docs. They won't allow me to visit the USA, so my husband has to come to Canada to see me. Neither of us have any criminal record. He's a pilot for god sake & I worked for the government. Our couriered AOS & Civil Doc paperwork was sent in on July 19, 2014 & signed for by NVC July 21, 2014. They lost our paperwork & found them after we sent a Senator after them. They found them on Sept 11, 2014, so they were entered in the system on that day. They then said we will wait 60 more days to review. We argued that they were received July 21st but they said not their problem. They were entered Sept 11, 2014 so it will be 60 business days from that date. We are completely fed up with the whole process. We also had a k3 visa at the Montreal consulate back in March that was cancelled because the I-130 was approved 2 days after the k3 but they waited for us to pay the interview fee of $240 before they cancelled. They will not refund any money on that. So we continued to pay the $230 I-130 fee & AOS fee $88 the same day in March and still sitting on our thumbs.

  10. You are not alone. They lost mine twice. First sent AOS & supporting docs, then sent AOS with supporting docs & all civil docs because they said they never received the 1st package. I sent both by courier signature required and the NVC signed for the package twice and now they don't have it. We have both receipt notices that they have signed and date stamped. So we sent a 3rd time with copy of receipt notices and they didnt get that either apparently but sifned for it. Been dealing with this since June 2, 2014. Got our lawyer dealing with NVC Attorneys and also a Senator because we have gotten 3 different stories now. One from the NVC Attorney, another from a Supervisor, and another from Dept of State. We have been waiting 16 months now and back to square one. We are so fed up.

  11. If I were you I wouldn't be telling the officer I planned on staying 6 months because they are going to deny your entrance to the US. But for god sakes don't get caught lying to them or they will get you. If you have an application in progress you must provide ties to your own country. (Own a home, lease agreement, family, work, return ticket, ect). If you have intent to immigrate to the US with the purpose of staying and have no ties with your country you will get turned away instantly with no question. If you stay even 1 extra day over the initial entrance to the US, the computer system will automatically bar you from the USA for 3 years. They won't play with you and there will be no talking them out of it afterwards. On the I-94 (stamp in passport) be careful which stamp you get. A b2 will allow you 180 days but another stamp only allows you 3 months. I just found out this lovely detail. I thought everybody got an automatic b2 but they do not. My husband is a pilot and customs warned him about the passport stamp if I chose to visit and stay awhile. With an application in process you are a higher risk of intent to immigrate so the rules change. Hope that helps.

  12. It is not what you call normal to not communicate. This is the time you both should be learning about one another. The lack of daily info, personal history, and regular communication is going to hurt your interview with lack of evidence. One of the most popular questions at the consulate is how often do you communicate, how do you communicate, & how often do you see each other. The answer of "My fiance thought less communication would be better", is going to get you Denied at your interview. Without the need to speak often or see each other makes it look like your marrying him for a green card. Just saying.

  13. Who ever told you that your disability will cease from Canada when you move to the US doesn't know what they are talking about. Canada has an agreement with the US on these matters. Your Disability will NOT change. You are required to give them your new US address after you become a permanent resident and not before. I am on a disability pension, married to a US citizen, and contacted all the appropriate services to find out what to do including Revenue Canada. You are required to notify Revenue Canada as soon as possible to stop future payments of HST cheques as soon as you become a permanent resident of the USA. If not you will be required to repay all the moneys paid to you after your departure date & living in the US. Also, you disability income is used on your AOS form I-864 that will be joined with your spouse/fiances income. You are not entitled to receive disability from the US, only from Canada. Hope this helps but in future enquiries of anything government call them directly and ask so you get a straight answer. That's what they're there for.

  14. I sent my stuff ahead of time with no problem. Just a heads up for you...I checked all of the ways to ship my stuff and believe it or not Canada Post was outrageously expensive. For a box 28 pounds, 22 x 24 was $183.00 with 12 to 18 days for delivery. I sent the same box with Purolator Courier for $58.00 tax included for shipping in 3-5 day. FedEx was $73.00 with tax. I addressed my stuff to my husband and on the US Customs form I claimed everything as "USED" because it was. No duty to pay when he received it.
