I naturalized on April 11, 2019.
I have a big box containing all my immigration paperwork, including my K1, AOS, ROC & N-400 applications. It’s a lot of paper.
I’m probably moving across country soon and I need to declutter big style.
I have an electronic and hard copy of my naturalization certificate. Do you think I could burn / shred everything else now?

Hi Wuozopo, yeah I’m aware of WEP and that if you declare a foreign pension it can reduce your US SS. However, a weekly contribution of £2.80 for a weekly pension of £165 is too good a deal to miss!

We issue it to people lawfully admitted to the United States on a temporary basis who have DHS authorization to work.
The form for application for a social security card states To change the information on your social security number record ie a name or citizenship change you must provide documents to prove your identity, support the requested change and establish the reason for the change.
We will move forward with updating her status and get a new social card without the valid for work only with DHS authorization statement. Plus the main reason is to update the social security records.

I had them remove that wording when I got my conditional 2 year green card. I need to go back again soon as I just became a US citizen.

Although from this year, all tax transcripts are heavily redacted in terms of the personal information they show. The only place my spouse was shown was the last four digits of their SSN.

Did you know that there's a bill going through the UK parliament right now to abolish the 15 year limit? 🙂 https://services.parliament.uk/bills/2017-19/overseaselectors.html It's currently in adjournment but hopefully it will continue its legislative journey soon.
One of the other great benefits of being a working expat is the ability to pay the very cheap Class 2 National Insurance contributions to maintain your UK National Insurance record and state pension thereby. I love how cheaply I'm maintaining my NI record.
Anyway, my Oath of Allegiance is tomorrow. Wish me luck guys. I'll be a dual citizen tomorrow!

Thanks, Sukie. It certainly has been a long, frustrating ride. Amazingly, my online status has updated more times today than it has for the last two years. Thank you for your guidance and assistance during the process. Only one week until I'm at the courthouse taking the oath and for the first time in years it's taking place in my hometown, a mere 13 minute walk from work. I'm also very relieved that I'll never ever have to see the inside of that dratted USCIS office again (knock on wood). I hope you're both well!!!

I passed my naturlization interview today and my !-751 was also approved. Oath ceremony is a week today! This long visa journey is nearly over!

The IO didnt seem bothered that he didnt know them off the top of his head. Asked when we met and how we met. He said we met on a online message board. The IO asked what was the name of it. But he didnt remember and (I dont remember either to be honest, the message board was shut down shortly after we met). The IO was satisfied with everything and said I am recommending you for approval for I-751 and N400. He also said he couldnt properly approve the N400 until 3 days from now because he has to approve the I-751 in the system first. He then handed him two papers one saying he had been reccomended for approval for I-751 and second for N400 saying A decision cannot be made at this time. Surprisingly enough he never called me back to interview me. I was expecting it. So that was our day.
Congratulations, Corvusheart! I think we been through this journey at roughly the same pace. It's my naturalization / I-751 interview in three weeks time. It should have been June 5, 2018 but I was abroad and had to request a reschedule. The reschedule caused a 'system error' and I heard nothing for ten months until I finally went back and banged my very polite fist on the desk.

Hi guys, after waiting the best part of a year, I finally have something to report.
I applied for my N-400 in February 2018. My outstanding I-751 was transferred from the dungeon of CSC in March 2018. At the end of April 2018 I was called for interview on June 5, 2018. I couldn't go as I was abroad on vacation and all flights, hotels etc were non-refundable. I therefore foolishly asked for a reschedule.
June 2018 came and went and I heard nothing. I went to three mis-Infopass appointments in June, July and August and was told each time that it shouldn't be too much longer now, but never heard anything. I got so fed up of the whole thing that I decided just to forget about it and live my life.
This Monday with both my I-551 stamp and driving license expiring I had no choice but to make the 90 minute journey back to the office. I asked for another stamp and explained what the situation was. The immigration officer on the front desk said 'Oh, it looks like your application is stuck in our system'. I won't tell you the reply that went through my head. She passed the case to her supervisor and said that he would 'unstick it'. I didn't believe it but managed to leave the office with a further six month I-551 stamp (they point blank refused a year).
Woke upon this morning to an email notification and my interview has been rescheduled to the start of April 2019. Hell or high water will not stop me attending that interview.
The lesson of this story ... never ever reschedule anything with USCIS. Suck up any financial loss or inconvenience and attend the appointment.
Maybe there is now light at the end of the tunnel.

It's a long time since I've posted.
N-400 was scheduled for June 5, 2018. I was abroad so had to ask for a re-schedule. Still haven't received a new interview date. Got fed up with going to Infopass appointments so just waiting. So frustrating.

Yes live in Dayton and having to travel to Cincy for each office visit. It’s only an hour drive but it’s just all so frustrating lol.

Yeah, I went to an Infopass about a month ago. I was in and out in 2 seconds flat. They said they were backlogged and that I should hear something in a month or two. My office is definitely not backlogged.
My guess is that your initial appointment is made by the NBC. If you're foolish enough to ask for a re-schedule like me, you put the power of reschedule into the hands of the local office ... Need I say more.
I wrote to them again yesterday, asking very politely WTH is going on.
Sigh.

I made the cardinal error of asking for a reschedule of my naturalisation interview which cause a nine month delay and my cases had already been combined.
My I-751 took 26 months in total.
