  1. well you are about to hit the interview phase. At this stage he needs to get his civil documents when they ask him to like immunization record if available for the mdeical, police records and so on and you will need to provide him with the affidavit of support and supporting documentation to show proof of financial support e.g. W2, tax returns, pay stubs, job letter and so on. Read the guides, some items may be consulate specific so you will have to find out what your embassy is looking for. Try reaching out to members on here who have gone or will be going through the south african embassy. also see

    Good luck.

FinalEmpress, looking at your time line, seems to me I'm taking steps you haven't, I got case number from State Department, and was told its at NVC, thought they was same thing,, WRONG!, Called NVC, NVC hasn't sent it to the Embassy yet, and the lady told me it's in Administration Process, she couldn't elaborate on how long that would take, just said call early next week. She did say they got it on January 17, so here we are almost a week later and it's still there???

Looks like yours didn't go through all that,,, these people have me so confused I swear.

Also the website says more fees and affidavit of support checks did you need to do this before consulate got your petition?

  2. I'm confused?? I called state department, (my NOA2, said this is where it was sent), to get our case number, which I got, but, was told it was sent to NVC so, I called them to see where or what's next, I was told it's in administration process and to call early next week for updates they had received it on Jan 17, how long it stays there she was unable to clarify? Anyone else experience this? I thought once you get a case number off to the embassy of beneficiary, am I wrong?

  3. Well I called the State Department about our case number which I got and was told it was sent to the NVC which I thought was the same as the state department, guess I was wrong.I called the NVC and they received it on my Honey's birthday, it's going through administration process and I should call early next week to see if it will be sent to South African embassy.

I wish I knew what information I need to send my honey so I can better prepare.

    Good luck all!

  4. Hi fellow NovFilers, I'm back home,my week with my honey felt more like a weekend, time flies when your having fun!

I'm trying to catch up on everyone's status,, last I got was letter stating Jan 7, 2014 my approved petition was sent to state department, so, I wait to see what happens next.

I think this last trip to Africa was my last until this process is over, Unless I hit lottery... anyway, I'm just anxious to get to the end and he's here!

    Good luck everyone

    KTich♥

  5. Hi NovFilers,

Today I'm flying out to see my honey, possibly for the last time until he's here with me. I got my NOA2 hard copy yesterday, so, now I'm able to hand him a copy of the petition I sent in and replies, I don't know what else I could bring him he may need because I don't know what the embassy will ask for.

I pray and wish everyone a splendid week with positive feedback.

    Good luck all,

    KTich♥

  6. The fee of $240 per visa comes when the embassy notifies you that they have received the case from NVC (package 3). Every US Embassy works different. In the case of the US Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, I would have to pay upfront using my credit card on a website that they have. At that point, they'll release the consular calendar on the website to show what days are available for the interview.

How do I find out about US Embassy in South Africa requirements on if I need to pay upfront or on interview date?

  7. I've been married twice before, me and my fiancee have children, and there is an considerable age difference.. I'm 10 years older than he!,

I was sure him being African

( with all the scrutiny placed on the continent as a whole) and all stated above USCIS was going to delay delay delay investigate me until the cows came home, but, if they are just going by that simple form and you meet the requirements on the application, NOBODY should be waiting more than 4 weeks TOPS!!!

But, this is step one and the painful process ain't over until our loved ones are at our door steps! I STILL GOT A LONG HARD ROAD AHEAD!

Just glad I have you guy's to share it with ;)

    Good luck EVERYONE!

  8. If you call about NOA2 prior to 5 months, I am pretty sure they will just tell you to call back after the 5 month mark. You and I have the same timeline and I have not heard anything either..

I think we are all way too spoiled with the few early approvals. It has only been a month and a half for me since NOA1 and I am hardly worried...

Yeah Foxxy, I know, I've finally figured it out, the 5 months, wasn't from start to finish, but the actual wait time for a NOA2!!

I'm not a very patient person, and I've been content because I've gone to see my honey every 3-4 months but 2014 I doubt I can travel to see him so often.

I am hopeful that at least by months end our approval notices are in our emails..

    Fingers Xed.
