  1. It takes 7-10 days. You should get it in the next 3-5 days. Also, don't forget to pick up the yellow sealed envelope when you go collect your passport with the visa, you need to show the sealed yellow envelope at the point of entry in US. The yellow sealed envelope will have a little cut on the side. It's normal for the packet to have a little cut, so don't panic. In my case they forgot to give me the envelope and guys didn't know that there was an envelope to be given with K-1 visas. they said it's only given for immigrant visas. So i argued and asked them to return my passport and return it back to me when the envelope is ready to pickup. It took another 3 days for them to return with passport with K-1 visa and the yellow sealed envelope. Best of Luck !!

  2. Hi VJ members,

I moved to the US on June 20,2014 on a k-1 visa and married on July 5, 2014. My wife, my sponsor, is going to start grad school in August. She will get a stipend of $31,000 per year. However her previous year income was just $5,000. I have the following questions :

    1) Do I need a joint sponsor?

    2) If yes, her mom would be the joint sponsor. Her mom's annual income is $31,200. Do we need to fill 2 separate i-864 for her and her mom?

    3) Do we also need to file the i-864a ? When do you file i-864a?

    4) On the form i-864 Part 5 Sponsor's Household Size

7.OPTIONAL : If you have siblings, parents or adult children with the same principal residence who are combining their income with yours by submitting form I-864A enter the number here

Do we fill here "0" or "1" since my sponsor and joint sponsor live in the same house?

    5) Do I need to fill in form i-693? I already had gone through a medical 6 months ago when i applied for k-1 visa. I have DS-3025 "VACCINATION DOCUMENTATION WORKSHEET" stating my vaccination history. See Attachment.

    Thank you

    Jai

  3. Hello fellow VJ members,

i received my passport today with k1 visa. The visa says issued on FEB 19 2014.

Expiration date is JUL 4 2014. I have to write my final semester exams in June. I plan on entering the US on June 20 2014. 4. For PCC you font need an appointment, the applicant can just walk in there early morning when the passport seva kendra opens.

before going to the psk fill out the pcc form online. Take the print out of the application. No need to pay it online. U can pay the 500 rupees fee at the psk itself.

at the psk the process will take you 3-4 hours and they will deposit your passport and ask you to come the next day to pick up you passport along with 2 copies of pcc.

    hope this helps.

  5. Hi,

I have a passport that was issued by Ahmedabad RPO (at baroda PSK). My passport was issued an year ago after which I moved to Delhi. I currently reside in Delhi. I have to submit papers for NVC for F4 immigrant visa process. Following are my questions -

    1) Where should I get my police clearance certificates from ?

PSK Baroda or PSK Delhi or both? I know I have to get it from PSK but which one ?

Do I also need the following police verifications done ?

    Police office in Baroda ?

    Police office in Delhi?

Do we need to send the originals to NVC ? Or do we give it to VFS before interview ?

Any suggestions/ experience in dealing with similar situation would be helpful

    Thanks.

You only need one PCC. You can either get it from Ahmedabad or Delhi. It will be easier getting it from Ahmedabad than Delhi, since your passport has Ahmedabad address on it)TO get the PCC from Delhi you need to first change the address on your passport to Delhi address.

  6. Fingerprinting and Biometrics for US Visa

US Visa Fingerprinting and Photograph Appointment at Visa Application Center (VAC)fingerprint_image.jpgEarlier the fingerprints were taken during the personal interview appointment. But according to the new rules, prior to your interview at the Consulate or Embassy, you are required to give the Biometrics information that includes fingerprints and photograph at one of the five Visa Application Center (VAC). The Visa Application Center are also know as Offsite Facilitation Centers (OFC). This program is also known as the "BioVisa" (Biometric Visa) program. No additional fee will be charged for this appointment as it is already included in the application fee. You can schedule an VAC appointment at any of the five centers; but applicants usually prefer to have both the VAC and personal interview appointment in the same city.

You can take the appointment online through: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in

Or you can call one of the call centers:

    Callers in India: Call +91 120 6602222 or +91 22 67209400.

Callers in the United States: Call 1-310- 616- 5424.

You should plan ahead for this appointment. You cannot have the appointments with the VAC and the consulate on the same day. A minimum one-day gap is required between the two appointments. You are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to the appointment; no earlier than that.

Ink-free digital imprints of all your ten fingers will be taken at the US Visa fingerprinting appointment. First, a digital scan of the four fingers from your left hand and then the four fingers from the right hand will be taken. Finally, a digital scan of the two thumbs will be taken. Injury or cut on your finger does not qualify you for a fingerprinting waiver. You might be asked to take another appointment after the finger is healed. Without all the ten digital imprints, your application will be deemed incomplete. These fingerprints are taken for a valid reason. When you arrive at the port of entry in US, you will again give your fingerprints. These fingerprints are compared to your fingerprints taken back at the Visa Application Center to determine the genuineness of your identity.

In addition to the fingerprints, the officer will take a digital photo of your face for their records. Children under 7 are required to bring a hard copy, not a digital copy of their photograph. In addition to the photograph in the DS-160 form, this photograph is taken as a proof that you were present in person for the VAC appointment. At your interview at the consulate, the consular officer will refer to this photograph during your interview.

    Waivers and Exemptions

Children under 14 and adults over the age of 79 are not required to provide fingerprinting. The consulate has specific rules and regulations to waive fingerprinting requirement for applicants with specific cases like permanent abnormality on the fingers, burnt fingers, scarred fingers, permanent handicap like one hand, etc. To gather information about such specific cases please refer to the following page:

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/laws/telegrams/telegrams_2777.html

If you qualify for the interview waiver program, and are renewing your visa under the same category you can forego this appointment.

Additionally, A-1, A-2, G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, C-3, and NATO applicants are exempted from the fingerprint scan requirement. However, if the purpose of the diplomats' visit is tourism or pleasure, then he or she is not exempted from the biometrics/ fingerprinting appointment.

Information required for Scheduling an Appointment:

To take the appointment you will need:

    1. 1. Your passport number
    2. 2. The US Visa applicaton fee receipt
    3. 3. The ten-digit barcode number from your DS-160 confirmation page

    2. 2. Your DS-160 confirmation page
    3. 3. Your appointment confirmation page
    4. 4. Visa application Fee receipt
    5. 5. If the applicant is below 14 years of age, one photograph as per the US visa specification is required.
    Additional Documents Required:

    2. 2. F, M students must bring the SEVIS receipt and I-20.
    3. 3. J exchange visitors must bring the SEVIS receipt and DS-2019.
    4. 4. C1D applicants should have a copy of original CDC and offer letter.
    5. 5. Science and technology applicants may require additional processing so they can bring additional supporting documents to reduce the processing time.

Most applicants will have to visit an VAC only once for Fingerprinting. You have to follow the usual security measures at the VAC.

Note: The DS-160 US Visa Application form will be stamped at the VAC. You must carry this document for your US Visa Interview Appointment.

According to Embassy guidelines all persons that enter the VAC site are subject to a security inspection:

    1. 1. The use of cell phones and cameras are prohibited.
    2. 2. All bags such as travel bags, flash drives, memory sticks, Blue Tooth devices, backpacks, briefcases, suitcases, leather, cloth bags, and zip folders will be restricted by Security.
    3. 3. No food or drinks allowed.
After your appointment at the Visa Application Center (VAC) for US Visa Fingerprinting & digital photograph, the final step in the visa process is the interview at the embassy or consulate.

    Saturday closed

    Sunday – 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  7. Hi Everyone,

There seems to be a lot of confusion about PCC. I went to the Passport office here in Ghaziabad today as I was confused too whether to get the PCC from Ghaziabad( where i currently live) or from Lucknow(my home town- my passport has Lucknow address on it).

The Officer explained me that I need to get the PCC from Regional Passport Office in Lucknow ( because my passport has Lucknow address on it). Its much easier process to get it from Lucknow.

I could also get it from Ghaziabad but it will involve a long and cumbersome procedure. He said I could only apply for PCC from Ghaziabad after I change the address on my Passport to my current Ghaziabad address.

Also one doesn't need to get PCC from every city you have lived in India for the K-1 Visa. Just one PCC from the place mentioned on your Passport will do the job.

Just register on the website http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/welcomeLink fill in the online application for Police Clearance Certificate. Take a print out of Application Receipt and Walk in to your Regional Passport Office between 9 am to 11am.

  8. Hi,

I'm confused about the PCC. The address on my Passport is of Lucknow (my hometown-mom and dad live there).

But for last 2 years I have been living in Ghaziabad in a rented apartment.

Where should i get my PCC from? Or do I need to get it from both places?

  9. Your reply is really helpful. Thank you :)

As for i-134, my fiance is a full time student and will graduate from college this December. Her mom will co-sponsor. Does she and her mom need to fill out separate i-134 ? Seems complicated.

thats fantastic! hopefully the time it takes at the nvc wont be as long as it took ours.

heres the site to packet 4 that your fiance will receive once the embassy gets all your stuff. http://photos.state.gov/libraries/india/521916/K1%20packet/K1%20pkt%204%20Oct%2013.pdf

    my helpful hints are these:

-make sure the pcc is from the regional passport office. you can register online, fill the form, pay and then just walk in when your ready to pick it up.

    http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/user/userLogin

-as soon as you get the confirmation letter or email from the embassy that they are ready to work on your case, get your medical appointment done. it takes a week to get the results and you cant have your interview without it.

-get all your i-134 documents together and mailed asap. remember that the signed form needs to be an original, not a copy so you have to mail it. it takes time for snail mail, so i would try to get this done first.

-check, double check, triple check that you have everything you need to bring to the interview!

once the embassy receives your case, it goes relatively fast from there. we got our interview just 2 weeks after they got it. good luck!

  10. Hi everyone,

my fiance had sent the I-129F package on September 24. She recieved an email on September 28 that it had been received.

yesterday she received another email saying the I-129F has been approved.

On November 15, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

we received the confirmation in less than 2 months. That seems faster than normal. Maybe we are lucky. So what do we expect next and what all documents should we gather for the interview?
