  1. Hi Another member from Ireland here, I was in the exact same position as you, filed everything correctly and booked my wedding for September of this year, parents had booked flights etc. After coming to this forum and realizing just how long everything could take i made the reluctant decision to move my wedding back to May of next year.

Although it was a painful decision at the time and I ended up having to refund my parents it was def that smarter move rather then overruniing my own wedding and losing thousands. Most venues will let you pick a later date at no additional cost if you do it early. Having any sort of ceremony that looks like a wedding puts you at great risk of getting denied for K1, my advice, bite the bullet and move it like i did. Later down the line when everything is finalized youl thank your self for doing it all now while you have the chance.

  2. Hi everyone,

I believe that I may have sent in wrong size passport phtos for K1 application I (the beneficiary) sent 2 passport photos over to my fiance, which were taken at a standard passport photo machine in Ireland, however those photos were deff not 2 x 2 inches. Will we get an RFE for this? We got our NOA1 already and nothing has been sent to say otherwise.

  3. I'd just wait it out. I'm not sure of your financial situation but quitting your job doesn't seem like a good idea. If you've waited this long what's another month?

Ah your probably right im just struggling with being away from her :(. I'm fine financially suffice to say that i have saved enough to be comfortable for a couple of months but i guess i should just hold on and save as much as possible rather that just going over and sitting about.

  4. There are people on here that are getting approvals who are TSC and filed around the 15th December so it seems they are all over the place with dates but it makes me more hopeful that mine December 30th 2013 will been seen to in the near future

  5. So glad to see December filers getting their NOA2's We had ours on December 30th so hopefully we should hear something soon, we are 3 months and 15 days in at this point. The wait has been awful but im just taking the opportunity to keep working and saving. I know I wont be able to work for a while once i get over there so I want to make sure im not a burden on my Fiance.

  6. we prepared the following before we got the NOA2:

    - Get Birth Certificate petitioner

    - Make a few us passport size pictures of petitioner
    - Get Police Record of petitioner (depending on the country you need some for the embassy and for the medical)
    - Collect evidence of Relationship (Photos, Plane tickets, Decaration of meeting in person, Loveletters, etc)
    - Bank Statements, Employer Statement, Tax Statement of usc
    - Vaccination Record of petitioner ( I had to do the required vaccination before the medical)
    - Medical Appointment (I asked if they need my Case number and they said no)

Maybe depends on the embassy/country and the length of the process (maybe some documents are not valid forever)

Wow thats great so you can basically get everything before hand thats great thanks for that info. I belive the Irish embassy the police records are fine as long as they are with 12 months from the petition so im going to go get them immediately. Medical is expensive but I will get that predone aswell.

On the subject of police clearance, Although I am now living in Ireland, I was in the UK on and off for 3 years while I attended University. Does this mean I need a UK police check as well as Irish one?

  7. Hi All,

So myself and my Fiance booked our venue for our wedding into for September since we are on the K1 visa route and from what we have seen timeline wise there is a significant danger that we could overrun the date we have. My family have already all booked their flights for ceremony and would cost them thousands and mess up their time off from jobs.

I know we shouldn't have booked stuff until everything was sorted so really we are just looking at contingency plans in the event that it looks like we will overrun. What we want to do is have a friend officiate the ceremony and do it as a commitment ceremony, so have it like a celebration of vows instead. Since we would not be signing any papers or be officiated by anyone there is no legal marriage and my understanding is that I could then return home to await final processing of K1 and then return and have a legal process done by a court or justice of the peace.

Anyone know if that is okay to do? I would have thought it would be fine seems as thought we are not signing any legal paperwork and just having the ceremony.

  8. Hi All, I have read the guide that explains where your petition is supposed to go depending on the State that the Petitioner is from. My Fiance is from PA so according to the guide its supposed to go to VSC however, my petition starts srcxxxxxxxxxx which i was told means its being handled by the TSC. I noted that on the processing times page there are current dates for what the CSC and VSC are working on based on NOA1 dates, but where are the current TSC dates? I know that the generic wait time is 5 months but is there any idea on where they are roughly up to?

On a final note if we ever do make an enquiry on the petition does the pertitioner have to make the call or can the benificery do it?

    Thanks in advance.
