I expected a couple of months, but, for a NOA 2 ?? That is ridiculous!!
But, I digress, keeping the faith that by next month I'll be praising USCIS workers (smile)
Good luck all!
yeah i feel you it shouldn't take that long to get the NOA2. Hope the USCIS workers have a kind heart and try to process as many cases as possible for the holidays next week. Hopefully they are not closed for too many days over the next few weeks to slow down the process even more than it already is.

Sparkle I really think you should have heard something by now. Don't know how helpful this may be but try calling them with my case I called them 3 times during the waiting period before receiving my NOA2. The first time they told me do not call until 5 months had passed, couldn't wait so I called a week later and they told me that they were only processing May 2013 filers so therefore my petition was on track and had 5 months worth of petitions ahead of mines to process and it would take a while. on the third attempt which was a 3 days prior to getting my NOA2 I was told that my case did not have a decision but that it was looked at and nothing was pending or missing and that same week on the 12th I got the text at 9:30 pm. Not sure if my calling really did anything but it did give me peace of mind to actucally speak to a live person about my case that gave me some information. I would like to think that it was my calling that helped but who knows with these people and the way they operate. Mines could have been a case of sheer luck and nothing else. I really hope that you and everyone waiting hear something soon.

You don't pay anything at the NVC stage for K1. Give your petition about 2 weeks from when USCIS sends them to NVC and then start calling to get your case number. While waiting, its best to research on the documents required during the interview.
Thank you very much for that tidbit. good to know. Will do.

Ok so my question is this now that I have received the NOA2 what is next? I mean from my reading I know that it is now time to send to the NVC to process for the local consulate. But what I don't kow and have not come across is exactly what needs to be done within these stages. If someone can either respond or direct me to the right location for the information I am looking for, woul dbe very greatful. Additionally, are there any fees to be paid at this step? is it like the I-130 where you have to pay the affidavit of support and vias processing fee, and if that is the case what is the cost? I have done the I-130 before and know those fees exist and have to be paid to the NVC prior to the case being forwarded to the consulate but haven't found any indication of such for the K-1. Anyone who has already done this stage of the process your advice and feed back would be really helpful. Thank you to all in advance.

WOW!!!! Congratulation finalemress this is indeed a Christmas present from USCIS........We have a very similar timeline, hopefully my NOA2 comes in today or tomorrow.
Yes indeed Can1221. I hope that it does. It is rather funny because I checked during the day and it was not updated. I did not receive the text until 9:30 pm I guess they update the system after hours to have sent the text so late. So here goes rubbing off some of my luck on you.

Ugh, the dreaded USPS tracking.... unfortunately, who knows where your petition is. They are horrible at regularly updating their site so chances are it is much closer to the delivery point than it is showing on the site. I shipped a package once and even after delivery it still showed that it was at the origin sort facility for an additional three days, never once showing the process between dropping off and delivery. I'm not sure if calling would help? I've never tried but maybe in this case it'd be worth a shot.
Yeah the USPS really sucks at updating package statuses. I sent in civil documents for a petition and three days later it was still sayin that it was at the miami sort facility. Mailed it on Nov 26th priority mail, went on their website and signed up for e-mail and text notification. Never received a text but got constant e-mail updates stating that is was at the sort facility until the 30th kept on checking on the website too same thing. It was not untul Dec 2nd that I got an e-mail that it was delivered on Nov 29th. Yeah so they are not as reliable at updates as should be. I was constantly checking their website. Good luck.

OMG!!! I just got a text that my case has been updated. Went on the website and there it was guys my case is now at post decision status. Checked my e-mail and it says that the notice was mailed out today so it looks like TSC is starting to do some approvals. Check yours out. I hope more of my fellow November filers get the same news as me.
Sparkle I hope that you too get your NAO2 as well since we have the same timeline. I am praying for you.
Am sorry I have the same timeline with Can1221.

Well for the next few days I will be too busy to check as I am traveling on thursday evening to NY so I gues once I return I will be back at it. I will be performing in a play (spare time activity) and going through dress & tech rehearsals and line rehearsals won't have as much time.

That I didn't pay to much attention to, but I do check my e-mail like a million times a day.. looking for that USCIS heading.. I'm like an addict! LOL
So, its my understanding, that once the NOA 2 is received, it then it goes to the NVC ? Anyone knows what happens there? Or for what purpose?
Yeah me too!! I'm an e-mail/uscis junkie!!!!! I check my e-mail and phone constantly and then I check the website just in case the updated the site before sending the notification and everyday I go home I stop at the mail box before heading to the house just in case they sent the mail notification without the electronic one. I am obsesseed

The First Step: Filing the Petition
- You, the U.S. citizen sponsor, must file Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), with the USCIS office that serves the area where you live. See Direct Filing Addresses for Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) for information on where to file the petition. Further information is available on the USCIS website under Fiancé(e) Visas. Note: Form I-129F cannot be filed at a U.S. Embassy, Consulate, or USCIS office abroad.
- Upon approval, USCIS will forward your petition to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC will give you a case number and send your petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the country where your fiancé(e) lives.

Hey my fiance and I have been waiting for a while now to be together so I think we will be able to survive another year apart though difficult. Yes we only started a romantic relationship with each other a year ago but we have know each other way before that and had been friends. And it's funny how we were both secretly attracted to each other and never really acted on it until now. Truely believe that nothing happens before its time and everything happens for a reason. This too shall pass because nothing lasts forever. Those are my words of wisdom for today. Lol.

For me, the biggest challenge is being unable to visit each other. We're saving up what money would be used in airplane tickets for after I move, as well as vacation days. We both know those first few weeks are going to be insane, both in terms of money and time, so we're saving up. I envy those couples who are able to see each other often.
I have had the same issues with getting to go spend time with my fiance. In September I was supposed to go home and visit but with work responsibilities I was unable to get the time off. Again the same has happened for this Christmas I am unable to leave from work. We wanted to plan a trip for my birthday in January but it's kind of difficult to plan as we started this process started and we are not sure when we will need to travel to the interview and additionally I have another case pending for my mom at the final stages at the NVC so I am double on edge with this visa process. although the one for my mom has not been as frustrating it's been pretty easy and quick just now we are at a standstill waiting on the NVC to finish the last step before consulate. But that is another story! And you are right about needing to save up money because airline tickets to Dominica are rather pricey. And there are so many other costs associated with this petition prior to POE and not to mention the costs afterwards to do the status adjustment. I share your feelings SparklePony but my only saving grace to this whole process is that once it is all over we will be with our love for good and in the end it will all be worth it. Stay strong! Sending some positive vibes and wishes your way.

Sparkle, never heard of it. Guessing by your statement that it is similar to Skype?

I saw an approval given in 11 days!!! Go figure
I think I will lose my mind before this is over! After January I don't know the next time I'll see my honey, I was hoping by May he would be in NY with me.. I feel like screaming!!
Trust me I feel the same way!!!!!!! This process is really nerve wrecking!!!! We really have to try and stay strong and keep hope alive that one day soon we will get our NOA2s.

Dishman you should definitely get the process going and do your research there is a wealth of information on here that can help you. Additionally, it is true that the guidelines for military is a bit different. For sure you have a bit of an upper hand on the rest of us being in the military. From personal experience I have seen military applications moved along faster than normal. Wish I was still in the military doing this process. Definitely see what assistance you can get from your command on this. Good luck.
NOA2 Received now what are the next steps?
