http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf
The above website says that I must make $19,387 annually in order to file for my fiancee to come over here under my support. I do make this before taxes annually, but I make a bit less than this after taxes.
My question is: do they count your total annual earnings (gross salary) or do they look at how much you make after you pay your taxes?
Yes they look at Gross Income. Unless someone else knows otherwise to educate the both of us.

Hi NovFilers,
Today I'm flying out to see my honey, possibly for the last time until he's here with me. I got my NOA2 hard copy yesterday, so, now I'm able to hand him a copy of the petition I sent in and replies, I don't know what else I could bring him he may need because I don't know what the embassy will ask for.
I pray and wish everyone a splendid week with positive feedback.
Good luck all,
KTich♥
Enjoy you vacation

My wife arrived here few days ago and just got the number of I-94..
Now that I'm going to apply for Social Security Number, is this good time for us to apply? or should we wait little more time?
What petition did she arrive under? K! for fiancee or 130 for spouse?

I did respond but I did not do the quote thingy so here goes:
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to give everyone my timeline, and ask a few questions :
I filed for my mother, is in Morocco, the Priority date is 5/20/2013, a few days later check has been cashed, i did not hear back from them until Dec-12th,2013 with an email stating that my case has been forwarded to local office, in my case the local office is in Texas, a few days later exactly on Dec,18th, 2013, and email stating my case is transferred and now is being processed, didn't hear back from them until yesterday 01/10/2014 about 9:30 pm email and text stating I-130 has been approved and transferred to NVC so total to get the I-130 to be approved about 8 months.
My questions :
What are the document i need to prepare? - for now you have to wait on them to contact you to pay the fees: IV processing fee $230 and Affidavit of Support $88
and what are the documents that my mother will need to get for processing? Does she needs to send me anything? - after the fees are paid then you will need the cover sheet that they provide to send in a copy of your birth certificate and one of your mom, the bio page of her passport and the police report and any other civil document that may be required for your specific case ( http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html) and to fill out the DS-260 online (PLEASE DISREGARD FORM # FROM PREVIOUS MSG ITS DS-260)
How long does it takes after approval? In my personal case once everything was submitted it took a month after for them to look at the case and then there was a glitch on their part (they misplaced my mom's birth certificate for a week) and then a week after they sent the interview notice letter. (so total took them a month and a half from me sending all required fees and documents to give an interview date.
Thank you
Hope this helps good luck.

Now be prepared for them to contact you with the fee payments (Affidavit of Support and the Immigrant Visa Processing fees) once those are paid you will have to send in the civil documents (police records, birth certificates and copies of her passport and fill out the DS-230 online) Good luck. The from now the process can be a speedy one. I just completed mines for my mom and it took 2 months from paying the fees and sending in the civil documents and conpleting that form online to get her interview day which is scheduled for feb 2014. One thing I have come to notice with them is they may take time and drag things along but once they starting actually working on your case things get rolling really fast. I did not get a month notice for my mom's interview it's more like 3 weeks inbetween her interview date and the notice because she has to go in advance to get her medical done.
-
Just got off the phone with NVC....They received my case and issued my "BGT" case number on 1/10/13.........Seems that the ball is rolling faster than I thought
Some time this week it will be shipped to the consulate in Bogota.
-
Website is down but they are working I just got the e-mail with my mom's interview date. OMG I am over joyed
Finally after all this time we are coming to an end. You may not know the background of this case. Started my mom's journey 5 years ago and the case file got lost and we had to start all over again so please excuse me while I
all at the same time. I feel like a heavy weight has been lifted off my chest. next up is my fiance.

How do I find out about US Embassy in South Africa requirements on if I need to pay upfront or on interview date?
If you go to the Embassy Info on VJ it will tell you.
http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=South Africa&cty=Johannesburg

The fee of $240 per visa comes when the embassy notifies you that they have received the case from NVC (package 3). Every US Embassy works different. In the case of the US Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, I would have to pay upfront using my credit card on a website that they have. At that point, they'll release the consular calendar on the website to show what days are available for the interview.
Yes that is true they each operate diferently. For my case going through the embassy in Bridgetown Barbados my fiance will have to pay the fee at the interview stage.
-
Thanks Empress, I was reading here and on NVC website that your put in some kind of que and wait ( yet again ) for your number to be called then pay ( yet again ) some sort of fees, so since you and some others are way ahead in this,, I'm depending on your udates and guidence
I'm just anxious to see my man next week.....
Thanks again
Am not sure about the queue part from my understanding and what I was told from the NVC personnel that once they assign the case number they send it off to the consulate that they don't keep them long in their office (in my case 2 days after being assigned a case number it was sent to the embassy). As far as the fee payment unfortunately we do have another fee to pay which the point in time that you pay is dependent on the process at the individual consulate/embassy, as I have seen that some members post in order to get an interview date the need to pay upfront and others allow you to pay at the interview. It all depends. I guess as we get to that point we will have to get embassy specific details for our cases. Like I have said I will give all information that I can based on my personal experience. Have fun on your visit.

Tried checking on my mom's case and got an error message from the NVC site anyone getting the same problem?
Application ErrorAn unexpected error has occurred while processing your previous request. The error has been reported to the site administrator; no further action is required. -
Hello NovTscFilers, so after NOA2 what's next? Please update me on what to do next?
Awesome great news!! So now it gets sent to the NVC. In my case I received a text and e-mail exactly 1 week after the NOA2 e-mail that it was shipped to the NVC. Usually the trend is to wait about a week or 2 after NOA2 and then call NVC to see about getting the case number. Once they issue the case number it is forwarded to the responsible embassy.
-
Usually it doesn't happen like that but may be it just for DOMINICA country.
Not that I am aware of as far as being the case for Dominica. Maybe I was luck in that they had a stack of cases going out today and mine was added in time to make the cut.
-
wow...did you ask why they send your case to embassy ??
Nope. Just figured it's the next step of the process. I do recall someone at NVC mentioning to me that cases don't stay there long once they are entered into the system and a number is issued they get forwarded to the embassy.
-
you got the case number 2 days ago and now it went to the consular section (embassy). have you expedited your case in NVC ??
No. I called in on Monday got the case number and today it says in transit.
-
More exciting news today!!!!!
Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center. -
I copied this from the NVC website about my case..Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center.
Does this mean we have an interview date? How do we find when it is?...They said they just mailed it out today so why does it say something about an interview already?
Just got the same thing on mine. Think it means they are sending it to the consulate. That might just be the generic verbage they use once a file is transferred, because it I understand it clearly there are a few steps to be completed upon receipt at the consulate by us before we are issued an interview date. Anyone who has better knowledge or experience than me please chime in.

Woke up to GREAT NEWS!! WE ARE APPROVED!!!
I'm still in shock please forgive me.. good luck all
AWESOME!!!!!
Sparkle hoping that you are next

Ok so with the new law that states that every one has to get insurance and it is being under the Obamacare act how does that work that is actually my question. But I will do some more research online to see what I can come up with. Thank you
The petitioner is sponsoring the parents. That means the petitioner (or joint sponsor) pays for everything. The purpose of the AoS is exactly that, to make sure the new immigrant will not become a charge of state. So no, the parents can get nothing from the government. Even if they somehow do, the sponsor (petitioner or joint) will have to pay the government back. And if the immigrant decides to apply for citizenship in the future, there may be unpleasant questions.
I was not aware that you do an Adustment Of Status for a parent under I-130?
-
Hi folks
Good morning. I'd like to ask that one of my friend (USC) wants to apply I-30 for his parents and if they are here is it possible to get health insurance on their own from gov or he has to sponsor his parents?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Maybe someone who has some knowledge could answer this because I have been wondering the same myself. Aslo doing 1 I30 for my mom and want to know whether that would be the case if we would have to get her through the gov or from private as I won't be able to sponsor her through my job as it is not allowed.

Hi Everybody
I got my NOA2 on Dec 13, and just checked my update at the USCIS and it says my file has been transferred to Department of State today January 7,2014.
How long should it be before the NVC receives my file and assigns me a IIN and BIN ?
Ive seen some estimates, but I want to know when I should start calling the NVC #
Thanks in advance.
They give themselves an 8 week cushion so they tell you it can take up to 8 weeks to receive from USCIS and issue the number. Some people on here say by week 2 of NOA2 you can get your number so many say 2 to 8 weeks. I got mines in 9 business days from the date shipped to NVC Dec 18th taking into account that there were 2 holidays (christmas and new years day) and the 2 days they were closed due to bad weather (Jan 2 & 3). Hopefully you get word this week. Best of luck to you. And like I am sure you have gotten from many other members keep calling until you get a case #. If you can call in the morning and in the evening

As far as I know anything that is not in English they usually request an english translation. But see if someone from your region might be able to answer that as I have not personal experience with needing to have a document translated. Yes it needs to be sent to the NVC either one of you can send it. Like I said I had my mom DHL her civil documents to me as I had the cover letter to attach to it and it was just better time wise and have the ability to track the package I did it that way. Instead oh having to wait on the mail to send her the cover letter and then have her mail everything back and we wouldn't have been able to track it.
