Wow @cybermax! That's awesome. It really does seem like the extra money wasn't worth it in my case but I am still glad I didn't take the chance. You never know with government agencies.

@zoom123 did you get an email from the Department of State letting you know that your application can be tracked or did you just check the application status portal of their website?

@SquashGuy that status means you are in-line for interview. Keep checking your status regularly (or sign up for case updates here: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do) for another status which will say that your interview date has been set and interview letter has been mailed. The interview date, time and location will be specified on the letter. Simultaneously call USCIS and ask to speak to a Tier 2 officer. He/she should be able to give you the current status of your case i.e. whether your interview has been scheduled and when. Worst case scenario: make an infopass appointment with your field office here: https://my.uscis.gov/appointment and speak to a customer service officer directly. Depending on how busy your field office is, it make take a few weeks so your fastest option is to call USCIS.

I'm on the same boat as you. Tomorrow will be exactly 8 weeks since my interview. Tier 2 officer had requested for an update and/or expedite. The same day I received an email that said "expedite request can't be processed without further evidence" which makes sense. I had also gone for an infopass. My post on that is probably a few pages back. 

@praizee it was recommended for approval and then sent to quality review. Your tier 2 officer was nice! Mine have just been horrible and unhelpful. I'll call again today and ask to send a message to the I.O. if they agree to...

My case was put on quality review on the day of the interview and I hadn't had any communication since then. The customer service officer called the I.O. in charge of my case but he wasn't available. I didn't get any update other than that my file is with him. It was good to know that my file hasn't been lost or misplaced. The customer service officer said to wait for a few more weeks as it hasn't been 90 days as yet (that's the timeline to complete a quality review). With the holiday season on our doorstep I believe it would take a miracle for some movement to take place on my case now. Today marks 7 weeks that my case is in quality review and no oath ceremony has been scheduled. 

Regardless, I learned a few general things from my appointment: 

1. The Washington DC field office only schedules naturalization ceremonies at the field office for military personals and people who had to be re-tested. Everyone else gets scheduled through the courts I'm assuming. 

2. The officer in customer service can directly call the I.O. in charge of your case file for an update. If the I.O. isn't there, the customer service officer can (hopefully) pass on the message to him/her 

3. If your case goes for quality review then their system will mention the officer it was assigned to. If the system shows it is with the I.O. originally in charge of your case then either the file has come back to him/her and completed the quality review or it hasn't been sent out in the first place .

@Air_Borne if your online status doesn't say "sent for quality review" then your interview is actually being scheduled. I doubt you would have to wait as long as I am being subjected to. 

@Air_Borne I really do hope you get your oath letter sooner than later. I was not able to go to the field office but my infopass appointment is on 12/1. This Thursday will mark 6 weeks since my interview and still no word from them sigh. I will keep you posted on how my infopass appointment goes.

@SamBillz thanks for inquiring. It is SO frustrating! I can't even begin to tell you the level of mixed messages I have been getting regarding this. The only communication I received was on the day of my interview and since then it has been radio silence for the past 5 weeks. My ELIS account says my case is approved but uscis.gov says my case is in quality review right after it said In-line for oath ceremony. The customer service reps at USCIS are USELESS. Surprisingly, I have had zero luck with L2 officers as well - I spoke to four different L2 officers and got the same mixed messages. I have scheduled an infopass appointment for next week and sent an email asking for clarification (no reply there either). I might do a walk-in this Friday since I basically live 7 minutes away from the field office where I had the interview and where my file is sitting now collecting dust. I will keep everyone posted.
