I am sorry if this seems like an attempt to hijack this thread, honestly it is not. I only think this may be the ideal thread to ask this question.

I have a peculiar situation. My PD is Sep 9th, 2013 which happens to fall just a day after the current date of Sep 8th, 2013 as we all know. Gosh very painful isn't it? Well maybe not! Just today i stumbled upon this http://www.travel.state.gov/pdf/Immigrant%20Visa%20Control%20System_operation%20of.pdf , which made me realize that priority dates or cut-of-dates are actually grouped into 4 groups. The groups are 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd. The 1st group is from 1st-7th, the 8th group is from 8th-14th, the 15th group is from 15th-21st and the last group is from 22nd-31st.

If you read this article, you will find out that my Priority date of Sep 9th, 2013 actually falls between the 8th group (8th - 14th). Is it safe to conclude that anybody with their priority date between 8th-14th september 2013 are actually current?

Please explain if you understand any better.

Thanks for pointer vkrishn.... unfortunately FB 2A (which majority of filers here are) is expected to remain at this date for forseeable future....

FB-3. This category is expected to advance by 3-5 weeks per month.

FB-4. This category is expected to advance by 2-3 weeks per month.

Thanks vkrishn and LPR_filer, now this has got me wondering what "foreseeable future" means in that context. I wonder why other categories will advance and f2a will remain at current level. Still hoping for the best nevertheless

The cut off dates are not based on a "day" but rather on a DATE.

Cut off dates always fall on the 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of the month in question where the visa bulletin is concerned.

So they didn't pick a Sunday per say. It's just that the cut off for Sep. was the 8th of that month which just happened to be a Sunday. :-) ~~~

Oh really? I didn't know that and i was perturbed about it. Do you have any idea if the next visa bulletin's cut off would remain the same, move forward or even retrogress? Somehow i think i sound like Oliver twist with so many people who filed several months ago waiting for adjudication and here I am whining about cut off dates...lol

Just to be sure you filed concurrently for I-130 and 485, right?. if yes, seems like you did not recieve RFE.

I just recieved the notification of email saying the letter of RFE is sent. I will update you guys once I recieve the letter.

i only filed i-130 and did not get an RFE, though at one point i thought i may get it because i was worried that I may not have added enough evidence/document.

Is your petition at CSC? I think CSC have been favorable lately.

Ok I am not trying to steal your show but i got approved same day too (10/21/2013) . Mine took 42 days and I am still very flabbergasted right now....lol

Your best hope is to wait for the Dec bulletin and hope that dates move forward. It will definitely not be current again. that was like a rare celestial event.

Worst is dates going backwards i.e retrogression.

I guess it's time to grab a burger and wait for the next bulletin. The word Retrogression has made it to the top of the most dreadful words in my head right now.

Yes it was a Sunday but what beats me is why the Cut off date falls on a Sunday. Why not a Saturday or even a Monday? UPS delivered the package to them on Saturday September 7th 2013 for that matter.

I got my fb2a approved in 42 days. It was forwarded to CSC from the Chicago Lockbox. I am so happy.

I must say people filing with CSC are the most lucky ones.

Congrats. As long as your PD is under the cut off date, you dont need to wait for it to be current.

Well i understand the cut off date as of right now is Sep 8th 2013 and sadly my priority date is a day after that, Sep 9th 2013. For some reason they received my application of Sep 7th and delayed acceptance till Sep 9th. I wonder why they skipped Sep 8th.

Yes it good News! Don't worry, yours will come shortly. Was your petition forwarded to CSC from the Lockbox Facility? Mine was like that and i have noticed petitions filed after August and sent to CSC gets approved faster.

It is my turn to share the Good News. I got my FB2A approval from CSC yesterday 10/21/2013. It took 42 days and I am still speechless because I didn't see it coming. Though my Priority Date is 09/09/2013 I am still very optimistic that it will be current soon.

Yes, but I realized when I went through all of my paperwork the other day....I obviously sent in the other set of passport photos. You see, we had taken two sets. I still had one set and thought I'd forgotten my photos. But, I didn't actually!

Mine said Initial Review the same day I called the USCIS and they told me to keep waiting. Three hours later, it said Post-Decision activity! Strange...so keep checking! Another approval came from California, I read in another thread.

I was always checking the website 2 times a day trying to hold on to my faith as one of the lucky California Petitioners until recently, I got fed up and stopped checking. So this morning, I couldn't resist the urge and had to check and ......voila i saw the message below

On October 21, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Right now I am still trying to contain the happiness so my colleagues don't take me as something else.

It took 42days from my PD

I know my PD is 09/09/13 and not current but nevertheless, I am still one of those lucky ones from California

Now the 2nd wait to be current begins

Hello i got a tourist visa the last week my husband filled the papers in august and I just applied and they gave me the visa for 10 years (:

Did you remember to indicate you have an ongoing immigrant petition in your visa application? If yes, then indeed you had one of those few chances talked about, which now leaves remaining chances even fewer and less by one.

We just submitted a photocopy of our marriage certificate as proof of marriage. No pics at all. I hope yours gets approved soon. :-)

Even if it does get approved and if your case was at CSC they are taking their own sweet time to send it to NVC.

Yes my case is at CSC. I think i would just worry about NOA2 for now as my PD(09-09-13) falls after the Current PD . Nevertheless, i am hoping for the best..

Wow that was super fast for you. I can only pray and hope it is for me too. PD 09/09/2013 and i am anxiously waiting. Can you give me a list of the documents you submitted for proof of marriage? I only submitted 3 wedding pictures, Marriage Certificate, Change of name declaration. Do you think those are enough to prove marriage?

Anyone got their F2A application transferred to California Service Center from the Lockbox Office recently? Some people believe petitions were no longer forwarded to CSC since June 2013 but lo and behold, my September 7th application filed at the Chicago Lockbox was sent to CSC for some reasons. I cannot think of any other documents you can attach apart from those you have listed. One question, were you required to attach birth certificate initially? I have a petition with USCIS too and i didn't not put any of such, just wedding certificate, change of name, the forms, money order and a couple of registry pictures. Do you think they will request for more evidence from me? What set of documents did you submit initially?\

I'm updating here, too.... Tonight I got a text and email saying the following:

My case status has been moved from Initial Review to Post Decision Activity on the web. I can hardly believe it! I believe this is the NOA2...but one of you who knows better can tell me if I'm right.

Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! I have been quietly following your posts for a while now, mainly because my priority date is Sep-09-2013 and i believe yours is Sep-10-2013. My petition was forwarded to the California Service Center and i got the WAC number just like you did. I decided to use your case as a forerunner for mine. I red all about the missing passport sized pictures in your petition and i thanked God i didn't leave those out in mine and i kept hoping for the best. The fact that people claimed petitions are no longer being forwarded to California Service Center because of heavy backlog got me worried. Moreover the estimated waiting time on the usgov site is not enticing at all.

I have just checked my case online and it still says "initial review"

Now i don't know if i should worry or rejoice, judging by the expedited action on your petition. By the way what happened to the missing passport photographs in your case? Did they ever request for those?

Also are you a US Citizen or an LPR?

More importantly, i'd like to say a big Congratulations to you. All the best and i hope the remaining wait will be even shorter by God's grace.
