  1. Im sorry to hear about this but this situation stinks. Im in no position to give you advice about ROC since Im still new to all this immigration world. From what I read on the forum many times, its totally not safe to lie at immigration. Or you can present the situation as if you guys decided to have " a time off" to figure out what to do next. I have seen people take a time off of 5 years before they end up divorcing so dont worry too much about the 18 months break up thing. I hope your wife will be cooperative in this case.

As others said, make a decision!!

  2. HI,

I have been here for 7 months and nw still awaiting my AOS to be done. I felt bored here and there but it was never too negative to make think of going back home or divorcing the man I love. Im basically still acting like a tourist. I have been travelling here and there since I came. I visited more than 7 states and 30 cities. I know these things require money and not everyone is able to travel constantly. I have also spent many boring days at home. For that reason, I bought a sewing machine. I suck at sewing but GOD!! that sewing machine is a great help to spend time inside without going insane. I adopted a fish haha and I spend a couple minutes everyday to feed her and clean up the tank. My husband bought me a car so I learn how to drive. I also love shopping and honestly going every other day to the stores make me feel so much better. I als learned how t cook and I would try to cook something new everyday. Now, I feel right at home and Im happy the way it is. I cant wait for my EAD to arrive so I can work but Im sure I will miss these days where I can d anything whenever i want.

    My suggestions are :

    - Adopt a dog and spend 1 hour everyday walking outside with the doggy

    - if you dont know how to drive, start learning.

    - Look for jobs even if you dont have EAD yet. this task takes a lot of time doing research, writing resumé, and cover letters.

    - Go shopping for groceries when your husband is at work

    -visit family and friends

    - Check your local city website for events...

  3. Meet him first then decide about the K1. I would say its too early to think about K1 before meeting. I respect online love stories (i myself one of those people who fell in love before meeting my now husband) but meeting the other person will reveal way more of their personality and intentions. Im only saying this out of love and concern for visa journey member's and after reading horrible stories on this forum. Im not saying your boyfriend is gold digger either but its better to be careful than sorry.

After you meet and you decide he is such a great guy then file K1. K1 take 6 to 8 months so you can visit him during the process and by the time he has his interview, you will have a record of two visits, plenty of pictures etc etc

  4. Just applied my socail security number this mỏning and they said the immigarion have not update my case yet, so I have to wait 4 weeks. Does any one experience this before?

I read this in a different thread a while ago. I think some people faced the same issue with SS and DMV too. Maybe you should wait a couple days and go back or call USCIS to update your case?! I really don't know, Im just giving ideas. I hope someone who faced the same problem would reply to you. Try to post your question in a new thread and see how it goes.

  5. Hi guys,

I would like to know what are the procedures of travelling after getting a green card? If God wills and everything goes fine Im planning to travel a few weeks after getting the green card? Is there anything I need to do before traveling (paper wise ?)

Also can I "request" a stamp on my passport and travel or its up to the officer to stamp my passport if the green card is issued. I want to travel home and see my family before starting my new life as a resident of the USA and looking for a job.

  6. well,,, looks like Salt Lake Office is about 5 - 6 month behind,,, so I will expecting my interview to be around in May.

Salt Lake office showed as Oct 31, it is processing timeframe May 6, 2013.

you can check each office processing time here

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

    No more guessing...

thanks to remind me,, I totally forgot about that, I had it for my other cases setup, and didn't let me login with my old password, had to change password.

now it's set up for text/email

    thanks

The statistics shown online do not make any sense to me. My local office shows that the last case they worked on as of 19th of december is a case from April 2013. I was thinking that my interview will be in april 2014 ( after seeing that) but a few days ago I received a text saying my interview will be in february 10th

  7. Withdraw it now or never. Sponsorship is a really serious thing. My mother in law is my joint sponsor and I made her read all the rules clearly before signing anything because of how serious the responsibility is. Let us assume that the person you are sponsoring is a great human being and that he will never sue you for money (which is his right when you sponsor him). The problem here is even if he is THAT nice, the moment you sign the sponsorship document, ou make a contract with the GOVERNMENT to take care of that person. If you fail to do so then the GOVERNMENT will make you do it. if he gets welfare then the GOVERNMENT will make you pay back every penny he got from them.

No one wants to play with the government. Im adding my voice to what others said and telling you to withdraw it right away. walk in and send a letter at the same time and make a call to USCIS if necessary. Do not trust what everyone else tells you (lawyer, or beneficiary).

On a different note, I don't know what is the reason that made you change your mind but a general advice is to only sign a paper when you are 100% sure you want to help that person. If its a sudden realization of how serious the sponsorship is then you are wasting the beneficiary's time and he could have found another sponsor from the beginning (assuming the beneficiary is not having a sham marriage for the purpose of green card only).

    Good luck :)

  8. I got an RFE for info that was submitted with the initial paperwork, it's so frustrating

hang in there. RFEs are so frustrating and we never know when we receive one. Try to submit the evidence as soon as possible because your application is put on hold until the day they receive the evidence. Make sure the evidence you are sending is what they are asking for. You can still call them for clarifications.

Unfortunately, RFEs can be sent anytime even on the day of the interview. Nothing to do about it.
