  1. sorry guys,

i was actually looking at the form 1-485 now and in section B,it says :"List your present husband and wife and if none put "NONE"."

Then it goes to FAMILY NAME, GIVEN NAME,MIDDLE INITIAL E.T.C.

This was the part i was talking about-THE FAMILY NAME. At this stage, would it be my maiden name or his last name and then the marriage certificate would prove we are married?

    Mor clarification pls/

  2. Hmm...forgive me if this is a stupid answer, but don't you have to file your I-485 *after* you are married? So are you going to change your last name to his once you are married? Maybe I'm confused...

sorry for the confusion.Of course we are going to both file the 1-485 after the marriage , i was just wondering do i put my name(first name and his last name) on my portion of the form?

    sorry, if i confused you

  3. Sweetie made a good suggestion.Go with either k1 or go to Nigeria, marry the guy ONLY if you know him well enough, marry him, come back to the U.S(Know that is hard) and file for CRI or K3.

Go to nigeria, take lots of pics , come back and start gathering evidence of your relationship and file K1 while he remains there, file 1-129F petition(process usually takes 6-8mths) and voila,he would be here by God;s grace. For the k1 though, you have 90days to decide to get married if you still want him and if it doesn't work out or you change your mind( God forbid), call it quits and he goes back to Nigeria.

Maybe other people on this forum would have more info. This is a great site and we are all here to support you one way or the other

  4. Hi guys,

I am the USC(female) and my fiance is the k1 visa holder.

If we do get married, which is going to be soon, do i have to change my last name to his last name before submitting the AOS application.

    OR

On the 1-485, how do i fill out my portion of the form (i.e Name)

    Thank you,

I know this might sound as a stupid question but believe, i am at a loss on what to put there as the USC.

    Any info will help.

I know i have to attach a PHOTOCOPY i think of the marriage certificate.

  5. The biggest advantage of the K-3 is that your husband receives his green card and work authorization within weeks as opposed to 4-6 months.

The CR1 would offer that benefit (takes a lot longer to obtain, though). The K3 most certainly does not give anyone a work authorization and green card within weeks. The EAD and Adjustment process for a K3 is not all that different from a K1. ;)

This is all new to me. I feel so lost. I just know that right now we need to spend time together which is the reason that he is coming over as a tourist. EAD, AOS, K1, B1, K3......it is another language and another world. Basically, he has a letter from his Mother stating that he works in the family business and via the many corresponding emails with the embassy that I have sent to them this should prove soci-economic status for them.....I had suggested to him that he does an immigrant visa....I read about that on the embassy website and it cost about $365.......how does this work? Is this better? Also per the qualifications for a K1 fiance visa we do not qualify....we haven't known one another for 2 years.....that is the way we understand. Is there someone that I can talk to in Oklahoma who is able and willing to explain this process to me? Like an attorney or someone? I am in love wth someone that I feel is finally right for me and but he is a whole world apart from me!

Right now he has an appointment set at the end of this month.....I scheduled it off like that so that I can obtain more information. I am getting desperate and I feel like I don't have the knowledge that I need to win this race. ...I am trying to catch up and get the knowledge that is necessary so we can be together.

My only input, ewa is that regarding the k1 visa, YOU HAVE TO HAVE MET WITHIN THE PREVIOUS 2 YRS NOT KNOW HIM FOR 2 YRS. There is a difference, so reiterate, you do qualify for the k1 fiance visa,YOU HAVE MET HIM WITHIN 2 YRS.

Make sure, you have your flight information, the one you used to travel to LONDOONStart gathering evidence like pics you took together if any, copy of passport stamps to show you went to LONDON within 2 yrs of you filing a petition for k1 visa, copies of letters or e-mails if you have been sending e-mails, greeting cards if you gusy exchanged some , i mean ample evidence that you do have a relationship.

Sorry, mistake on the Going to Nigeria or having met in Nigeria. I meant meeting in London

  7. The EAD Card

If you are issued the EAD Card (I-688B Document) at the port of entry it will be valid for a period of 90 days. Be sure that it contains the following information:

    Your Full Name

    Alien Number

    Your Signature

    Your Photo

    Your Fingerprint

    EAD Issue Date

    EAD Validity Dates

    Your Date of Birth

Your EAD is a very important document, if there are any errors you may not be able to get employment with it. So please be sure to check it. A scanned copy of the EAD Card is available. View the scanned copy of the EAD Card

  8. Since you are going back to the U.S to live.

The k1 fiance visa would be appropriate for you and your fiance. You would have to send the 1-129F petition to the service center of the area you last resided in the u.s. If it is florida, find out what service center takes care of fiance petitions.

I was in the same situation. I am USC that lived in Canada.

I last lived in Texas so i sent the petition to Texas Service center, they ended up transfering to California Service center.(still worked)

I was working in Canada by the way so i had no financial history in the US.

Before the Visa process was over, i moved back to the U.S and everything was fine.I started working, got an emp letter, bank statement e.tc.I moved back only when the petition was approved.

If you don't want to move before your fiance's visa is approved, i guess you can always have a CO-SPonsor to help you out by submitting forms 1-134 . You would have to submit a copy too for yourself as well.

Other people might have other input and it does not take long.Mine took a total of 6 months from when i filed the petition

  9. Hi Guys,

I am not sure if this question has been asked a billion times. If it was, i apologize for asking again.

What POE gives the temp EAD;s for K1 Fiance visas.

i heard about JFK. If it is , is there only 1 JFK airport?

I also heard Houston gives out Temp EAD's

    i am so confused.

Could any of you kind hearted ones know the answer to this question?I would really appreciate your answers

PLS ASAP. My fiance is trying to book in flight .

Thanks. For the prompt replies as usual.

  10. Hi Guys,

Thank you once again for all the support as usual.

Now that my fiance is approved , he wants me to find out what POE to the U.S still gives Temp EAD.

If any of the newly approved fiances can give some insight, i will greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,

I heard people say JFK and HOUSTON do give temp EAD's. I think there are many J.F.K;s aiports if i am not mistaken mentioned on VJ. I just wanted to be sure

He is trying to book his flight.ASAP.

Thank you once again. Your prompt replies are greatly appreciated.

  12. You cannot use infopass to book a biometrics appointment !!

I beleive that since last summer the USCIS contacts each applicant with a Biometrics apointment date. Without an appointment it is not possible to just turn up at your local office to have your biometrics completed. I think it probably outlines the new process on your NOA's for the AOS & EAD.

    Mark :)

    Thanks for the quick answer.

Another question would be - do you have to wait for the biometrics and finger printing appointment before the AP is approved

    Thanks

  13. Guys, words cannot express how i feel right now. He has been approved. He called me at 3.30am central to let me know this. It went with a breeze.

I have not gotten the full details yet but he was told to come get it on Friday.

Thank you everybody for all the support and assurance and advice and tips and e.t.c

Really really appreciate it. He said it was the easiest interview he has ever attended.

Hopefully,i would get all the juicy details

  14. As a U.S citizen, you can submit a K1 -Visa application starting with the KI Petition using form I-129F form.

As long as you want to marry your fiance within 90days of her coming to the U.S if you are both willing to live in the U.S together

If the petition is submitted , you can always go ahead and visit your fiance anytime you want . Your fiance on the other hand is not advised to do so that often, cos the govt might think she is coming in to the U.S to stay permanently.

You as the U.S citizen have the right to travel anywhere when this is going on.

    Hope that helps.

What i meant, was that a U.S citizen can travel to anywhere he wants assuming he is allowed and he or she has a visa.SOrry for the mix up

  16. You can go ahead and send it TO YOUR FIANCE.For the Affidavit of support , as long as it is within a year.prefarably close to the interview date. It is okay,

The NVC has not yet acknowledged the fact that they have the petition, it has not yet been sent to the consulate so that they would set up an interview date

I would hold off on sending anything right now.I would rather concentrate on getting the supporting docs ready until you get an interview date set up.

    Hope this helps.

Sometimes the interview don't come up until 2-3 months of you recieving the NOA 2

  17. Hey guys me again....

sorry I JUST found another thread asking similar quesitons about upper or lower case. Sorry for the repitition.

Still wondering about the G325 form though. For that same part, do I put N/A or NONE...I am the US citizen. I've read not to put N/A when None is applicable...they are so similar sometimes! hehe

    Thanks!

It would be Not Applicable.Hope that helps. As the U.S citizen, you did not live outside the U.S

  18. Calm down, U're going to get it, just calm down. I remember me and my wife going thru the same thing like U're doing now before our interview day but it is all good to be very prepared. I am now in North Carolina as this is my second week. sweet honeymoon and urs too will be like this soon.

    Wishing U all the best

    LeKaN

    Thanks LeKan and everybody else.

This is a moment of trial and i pray everything goes OK.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

  19. Hi,

I am not sure about the SS # thing . But i thought if one comes in on a K-1 visa, you don't have to have the SS#.The main purpose of the visa in the first place is to get married to the U.S citizen within 90 days of entering on a K1 visa.

I would call the county clerk where you get the marriage license to validate that. Ask them if someone came in on a K1 visa, do they need the SS no.

I am planning to get married in Nashville,TN. When i called, i was told that my fiance needs to show only his passport showing the K1 visa stamp and and any other ID. i.e Birth Certificate.

Hope somebody else on the thread would shed some hightlights

    Good luck
