Hey K,
Nice thread going here.
I met by SO while in school in Nigeria in 2000.We met at a get together party orgainized for students and i was one of the hostesses. He said i served him but i wasn't aware and i did not remember but we hit it off anyways.we started dating that year but you know, i had to come back to the states to complete my schooling. Finally decided to get married and went back to nigeria to get engaged last year. THat is how the k1 process started.
I am telling you, it has not been easy being that far away from him and thank god, it is getting closer. My baby arrives next week

You as the petitioner can sign the Fiance letter of intent together on one sheet of paper.
Have a spot for your signature and sign,
Your foreign fiance also should have spot on the page and sign it.
The consulate approved of it.
-
Yep, good job.
You have more than enough to send that package in.
Wish you all the best.
Vermont seems to be the fastest. You would get your NOA1 and NOA2 soon
-
I am still around too. I am waiting for my fiance to be here so we can start the AOS process.Hopefully, he gets here safely.I am under stress from just thinking about that.He has to be here alive for us to do anything.
I have not seen him since we got engaged last year.(January 2005) Isn't that long enough.I just want him to be okay.
-
Thanks, k
for the information.I appreciate it.Keep that in mind
-
Thanks Mand.
i also need to ask a question about the marriage licence. Is it the same as the marriage certificate?
If we do get the marriage licence and have a minister witness the marriage, we detach the bottom part of the licence and get the top part notorized. Can we include that with the I-485
Thanks again
-
Thank you very much.
How much does this cost, cos the bill is piling up again.Do we have to pay the civil sugeon for transferring this information to the I-693A form?
-
Yes to both your questions.Complete photocopies of the all the pages of your passport and front and back of the 1-94

Hi Guys,
I would like to ask a question about the vac supplement. As you all know, my fiance got the k1 visa and after the marriage, he would have to submit a vaccination supplement with his AOS package.
Since he had the medical portion done in Nigeria before a visa was granted him.Does he still have to go to a civil surgeon in the u.s to get another vaccination supplement(i.e I-693A) or just submit the one given to him in Nigeria.
Thanks

Hi Guys,
My fiance just came in on a K1 fiance visa and we are getting married this month end.I would like to ask a question about the Vaccination supplement.
I know that he would not need to do another medical exam but he got a vaccination supplement from the U.S consulate in his country. I have heard about form I-693A . How does he get this form
Can't he just submit the one he got for the initial visa and attach it to the I-485 form or if we get married, he would still need to go to a Civil surgeon to get this form?
I also have a question about the marraige certificate. If it gets signed by a minister, do we have to send a copy to the County clerk , make photocopies of it and attach it to the 1-485? or we would have to wait for the certified copy of the form?
Thanks in advance for your swift replies

There should be absolutely no problem whatsoever. You are fine

Hi Neya,
A very big step in submitting the Form I-129F form now.It is very important you put evidence of your meeting with your fiance within the past 2 yrs. Proof of ongoing relationship would be done later at the interview stage.
What you will want to do also is get a I-129F cover page and list all the documents you are sending in.(check the example form section) on the VJ page.
Travel itineries are important,
Passport stamp pages are also important. It shows you actually went to Nigeria(Arrival and Departure).
Photos are also important. As much as you can gather especially showing both of you.(Don't worry if it is 2 or 3)Just submit what you have. You should take more when you travel again with your son. Make sure it is dated. You can print out more negatives to use for the interview process once it is approved first.
If you can also get 2 or 3 letters written up till the time you submit the application i.e showing dates from when you started dating and maybe till now. That would be great.
2-3 copies of e-mails that you send to him. This can also be done at the interview stage.
Phonecards would also be great.(Not a whole lot)
IM conversations is also acceptable. Not too much. You don't want to bore the Adjudication officer.
Also, make copies of all the pages in your U.S passport and also submit.
Make separate copies of the passport stamps and put it on top of the whole passport page copies
The I-134 form should be saved for later and dated close to the INTERVIEW DATE once it is set and if your petition gets approved which it will by God's grace.
Leave the police certificates for later for the INTERVIEW.You still got time.
Hope this info works. Other people might have more input.
All the best. And you don't have to go to Nigeria again to get more proof. You already have more than enough.
-
congratulations.May you have good results in the end

My fiancee went yesterday to the local SS office and they told her that her numbers were not in the system. We waited almost 4 weeks until we tried to obtain the SSN, as suggested on the VJ guides, and her information still wasn't in the system. We plan on having the wedding in about a month, and in my state (TN) she must have a SSN before Marraige Certificate can be issued. Is there any thing I can do to see why and/or when her information will be entered into the system?
Hey you,
you are from Tennessee right? If i am correct, your fiance does not need SSN before you get married.
I am from Tennessee too. When i called, i asked them about a K1 Visa status. They told me all the fiance needs is the copy of the passport where the k1 visa is stamped and the 1-94 arrival /departure record. i as the U.S Citizen would need by SSN and possibly passport/BC to show citizenship.
I also asked the county clerk what are the requirements for getting marriage certificate, i was told as long as i pay $4.00, for each copy , i'm good.
Call the county clerk in Nashville and verify this.
Unless you meant something else.
I called the SSN office and they advise 2 wks after the fiance arrival, one should apply for the SSN by coming into the office.I don't know why yours took 4 wks but that should not deter you from getting married.
-
THe use of either 1-864 or 1-134 really depends on the consulate you are going through. Your foreign fiance would have to find out what the consulate wants.
Generally though, the 1-134 is used for K1 visas and I-864 is used when you are Adjusting Status for the foreign fiance.
Hope that helps.
-
thats great. So I can apply for the green card and adjustment of status in parellel.
On the form I-485 in part 1, it asks for social security number. Do I leave it blank? Also, next to the social security field there is the A#. Is that the Immigrant visa number?
YES, you put NONE in the social security no section and in the A# section,
put the A#
-
No, SSN is not required to fill out AOS form.
Go ahead and send the 1-485 form in with the A# provided to the fiance.
-
CONGRATULATIONS.
SUCCESS WILL BE THE REST OF THE JOURNEY

Maybe I read this wrong but I thought the fiance will be going to live at the new address when he arrives. If this is the case the "new" address will be the address on his I-94 and then on his AOS. Then, I thought the only person moving was the USC which for AOS I did not think her address change would matter unless she moved after she files the AOS.
If the new address is used for the fiance when he arrives and for all of his forms then he wouldn't have to send in an address change. I think the issue came because there will be a different address on the I-129F (the OP's "old" address) and I thought the OP was wondering about the apparent conflict between the two, but maybe I just read it wrong. I thought she was the only person moving and that he will go to the new place when he arrives and will be filiing from there. Maybe I am just confused.
K.
You're not confused. This is how I read it as well, and I know I wasn't mistaken in my post, but I gave up on wrestling with VJ posters long ago. So, my suggestion is, if you know your new address now and your new fiance has not arrived in the country, both of you should start using your new address on every form you fill out from now on and you'll have zero problems.
Yup. Zero.
I'm done with this thread.
So Peter$Dana, k-quandry,ET-2004 and others. All these interchange of ideas has totally left be confused.
Pls can you break this down in lame man terms.
I got the apartment for the beginning of April 1st,2006.I still live at my current address. If he comes into the country after April 1st, he goes to the new apartment that i got on April 1st.
Does he have to fill out the form AR-11 as soon as he gets in before filing the AOS after the marriage?
I will be moving in with him after the wedding scheduled for later in April.
Does this make sense now?
Okay ,hope it is a little clearer.
-
Will you be at the new address when he comes over in April? Then he should also give this address at the POE. And you can use this address for AOS without an AR-11. That is what we did.
If you haven't moved by the time he enter the U.S., then he will give the current address at POE and as Reinhard said, will file the AR-11 as soon as ye move.
No i will not be at the new address yet until after we are married. When he comes into the country, he goes to that address.
Would that change everything as far as the address put on the 1-485?
-
Thank you very much.I will just put the new address on it then.
Thanks again.Men, this site is great with questions and answers.

Hi Guys,
I put this question out on the AOS thread. Hopefully, we can get some answers here too.
Thank you once again,infact everytime
I do have a situation.Infact, i don't know if it is a difficult situation but i still need honest answers.
I will appreciate any suggestions.
Here it goes.
I as the USC fiance, i used my current address during the 1-129F, 1-134 i.e K1 Visa stage with the USCIS.
Now that his visa got approved, he would be coming to the U.S in April.
I as the US citizen got another apartment which we would be moving to before the wedding. ASAP i.e in April too (so completely different address now)
I was wondering on the AOS form, do i put the new address or still use the old address.
Does he have to fill out AR-11 and USC also fill out the appropriate form cos technically, he has not lived with me in the current address that we used for the petitions?
I don;t know if this question makes any sense, but i will appreciate honest opinions.
Thanks in advance.

olutayo82,
Hey! I think the other posters have essentially answered the question, but I wanted to interject that getting married does not legally change your name. You must have your name changed through a government entity (court or some other government agency). So, you would probably have to start by either changing your social security card or your driver's license.
Also, I think it has been advised that you send a certified copy of your marriage license with your AOS application. Some people have gotten RFEs for sending in the photocopy. It's only $4 for a certified copy at the Davidson County Clerk's Office in Nashville and they are pretty quick, too.
Good luck!!!
K.
Thanks k for the prompt replies and thank you everybody else.
Another question with the marriage certificate, i was going to submit the AOS, 1-131 and 1-765, and i know they need copies for the marriage certificate, i want to know do i submit 3 certified copies or 1 certified copy will be okay for all 3 applications.
Thanks, i know too many questions, you can;t blame me eh!
G-325
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted · Edited by olutayo82
Good thing you are starting the process now. You do have to fill out the G-325A forms(4 copies) for you and 4 copies for your fiance and sign it. and also more importantly, attach it to your I-129F form.with passport photographs and all the other stuff
The foreign fiance does not have an ALIEN NO right now , so you would put NONE
The U.S citizen petitioner on the other hand would put their SSN no.
Hope that clears it for you.
All the best.
Which service center are you going through?
Vermont is the fastest.
