What will happen is at your POE the CBP will stamp your passport and the stamp will be your temp I-551 until you get your Green Card (GC) in the mail.

there is no form i551
that's the stamp in your passport that's for 1 year until you get your GC
you paid for the GC, until not too long ago the card was for free for those going through consular processing, but now they charge you to get the physical GC
once you enter the US, the i551 stamp will be useful for travel and work until you get the card, if you don't pay, no card
did you get some sort of confirmation of payment and print it out?

N01 can give u answers regarding the timeframe u can get back your passport....but most people ic its 2 weeks or less than a month.....did u check d ceac website to see what final stage is in?
