  1. I would prefer to be with him in the US faster cuz honestly this long distance relationship sucks. It's just sad that my loved ones won'y be able to come on one of the most important days of my life. I might just consider getting married in the PH again soon. :)

If we choose to apply for K1 Visa, same timeframe? 5 months or more? Does it make it easier to get a visa that he's in the military? Or we have to go through the same process just like everyone else did?

Thanks for the link btw! :)

Him being in the military doesn't affect anything unless he has orders to deploy or for PCS. If he does, then you can request for expedite. If no orders, then you get adjudicated same as everyone else.

K1 visa is the faster route. Like I said, can be less than 5 months, can be more than that. It really depends.

  2. The instructions does say photos taken within last six months but they're really not that strict about it. At my interview, they didn't ask for my photos. And I know others here on VJ from various countries who also either forgot to bring photos or who weren't asked for them.

Not really worth risking a delay in your visa progress though IMO. Nothing beats going into an interview knowing you are prepared for it.

  3. That's a decision only you and your fiance can make. What matters more to you? Getting married in the Philippines or be with him faster in the States?

    Read this: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

It can help with your decision.

How long does it take? It varies. Depends on a lot of things like where your petition is adjudicated, if you get an RFE/if you have a complete petition, etc. Can be as quick as a couple of days for NOA2 or can go up to a year. Maybe set your expectations to 5 months or more. Best not to have expectations at all on adjudication speed.

    Good luck!

  4. Thank you iammrsregie! You're welcome!

Are there any recent filer's who have already scheduled interview who can tell us how far out the Manila Embassy is booked out? Are we going to be able to book an appointment no later than a month out, or is it taking longer than a month for available appointments? cgifederal website says First Available Appointment is Feb. 5, 2016 so plenty more will open up. People cancel appointments all the time. Don't worry too much.

Also how long have current filer's been waiting for USCIS to forward approved I-129F's to NVC? Based on the timelines, seems its only taking between 10-20 days from USCIS to NVC.

I'm sure others (specifically current filers) can chime in :)

  5. I think its loneliness and a lot of adjusting masking as ungratefulness. You are now married to this " stubborn, immature province girl" and the best you can do now is work on how you two communicate. For you, she didn't leave much in the Philippines since her family didn't really care for her. But for her, she left behind the comfort of the familiar. All the things you said about doing everything to make her comfortable, they get boring after a while. I'm sorry to hear you feel she doesn't appreciate you and doesn't care that you're in pain. She is going through a lot, just like you. She's adjusting to a different culture, adjusting to married life, etc. That doesn't excuse her for not giving you the proper care and love that you deserve of course.

"She complains that she is stuck in the house without work for 8 months. " All that time in the house without anything to do gave her time to think about what she is missing back home (it may not be much, but again, she misses the familiarity of it all). She needs time to adjust to the new culture and that doesn't happen fast. Took me almost 2 years, I think.

I used to feel everything she is feeling now. You know what made me change my attitude? I visited the Philippines again and saw how good I have it now here in the States. Get her to start working, help her develop hobbies, anything to take her mind off negative stuff. See if things get better once she finds better use of her time. You wanted to be married to her. It's time to follow through on your marriage vows.

  6. Just received our (NOA2) on January 28, 2016. My pregnant fiancee according to her doctor needs to fly by May 1st, 2016. This gives us three months, what are our chances now? Been told by other VJ members to wait until Monday February 8, 2016, then to start calling NVC to get case number. Been told not to wait for package to be sent to Manila Embassy or wait for Embassy to mail instructions?

What is our first steps after receiving the case number?

    • Pay K-1 application fee
    • Schedule Interview
    • then schedule medical

    Is this correct order?

I guess our biggest hurdle is getting an interview time before April 15, 2016, this will allow her two weeks to receive the Visa after the interview.

Next hurdle is how quick CSC will send out the documents to NVC. When we were at this stage, USCIS held on to them for a while. Not sure if they still do this. NVC processes them fast as soon as they get it.

For me it took 4 weeks from NOA2 to when they actually sent it out to NVC

1 week for NVC to get it

4 days for NVC to process and send it out

2 weeks for embassy to get the papers

    - Once you get your MNL number from NVC, go ahead and pay the visa application fee and then schedule an interview.

    - Don't schedule the interview too soon. Give time for the embassy to receive your files.

    - Do the medical at least 5-7 days before your interview to give time for the medical records to reach the embassy. Medicals arent scheduled (it's first come, first served) but you can register online.

Please read Hank's guide and familiarize yourself. EVERYTHING you need to know is on it:

    http://visaconnection-philippines.com/#

Do not wait for embassy instructions because there is a chance it will not come (I sure as hell didn't get mine). Everything can be found online. Here is the interview instructions. Gather everything you need now:

  7. VJ instructions: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Argentina&cty=Buenos%20Aires

After they receive the package from NVC it takes around 10 days until they contact you with P3. When they receive back the papers from P3 it takes another 10 days to receive P4 with the appointment date that is usually schedulled 2 weeks later.

    Embassy instructions:

    Here is the checklist: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/48675/CONS-IV/K1%20K3%20Instructions%20packet.pdf

While waiting for the email/packet, start compiling everything you need so that you can send it out as soon as possible.

  8. When the embassy receives your papers from NVC, they will send you an email with the following steps to be completed for you to schedule the interview. Fill out your DS-160 carefully (https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/) and then access the CASV website (https://ais.usvisa-info.com/pt-br/niv) to schedule your interview. Read further instructions on the link I provided below:

  9. Thanks :)

That is what I have done so far. Unfortunately, this approach cuts off the date of our first meeting in the US (which was also out first physical meeting ever) which makes me a little wary.

I have proof for most of these trips including: my UK passport with the entry stamps and a couple of Global Entry receipts (but admittedly not all of them as they would have been shredded), mobile boarding passes. Most of those were submitted is the initial petition (I-129F). Nonetheless, I would assume that a print out of my I-94 departure/arrival record from the CBP website would suffice as the most efficient proof of the trips.

Can't really do anything about it if the form doesn't let you add more. They are mostly checking if you did not overstay on any of your trips or if you violated any terms of your visa during your past visits. Just make a list on a separate sheet and bring it to your interview. If the interviewer asks about it, show the list to him. If he doesn't ask, then that's fine too. Don't volunteer information.

  10. I agree with Aleful, worry about the wedding first, then start working on the AOS. It is a good idea to file as soon as you can and you have the package ready so your spouse can start the path to permanent residency, but there is no deadline.

Enjoy your wedding and Good Luck!

Agreed. If your medical hits 1 year though and you still haven't filed, you will need to do another medical. Other than that, can file for AOS anytime (and file AP and EAD along with it so its free)

  11. 4. The beneficiary will follow these instructions to pay the application fee and book an appointment online

Regarding the birth certificate, it's best to call the embassy to inquire about the apostille. Like you said, VJ members experience is too varied. Some were required and some were not. Only thing I found on the embassy website is this:

    • Birth Certificate: A certified copy of the applicant’s birth certificate is required. All Venezuelan birth certificates presented at the U.S. Embassy during the applicant’s personal visa interview must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Relations. Please see the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministerio del Poder Popular Para Relaciones Exteriores (MRE)) .If you were adopted, you must submit a certified copy of the final adoption decree.
