  1. This is the URL where I'm going to create an account

    https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=India

Below is the error it's giving me. I only applied for the DS-160 this Saturday, the 16th, so I'm not sure if there's a delay. I'm going to wait a couple of days and try again. I guess my DS-160 is not in the system yet.

Not to sound like Capt. Obvious, but you ensured that?

  2. I think speeding tickets should be included and I did include them on my application.

Others disagree. None of this will result in a denial... it's just what each of us thinks will lead to the fastest approval. If you have evidence, take it with you to the interview. If you don't have it but it's easy to get, then get it.

Transparency and being forthcoming will be two good allies. IMO

I honestly don't think this will cause any bump in your journey.

  3. ok, thanks

For some reason, I'm not able to create an account to pay online and select interview date. I just submitted the DS-160 online this Saturday, so there might be a delay.

What circumstance is preventing you from creating an account?

  4. Why is real estate a tie?

You've been on VJ long enough to already know that answer.

Wouldn't it be more helpful to simply point out what is obvious to you and not to the OP?

Real estate isn't a good tie (if at all) since property can be transferred, bought or sold at will...hence a tie that doesn't necessarily bind the one applying to their country.

  5. I think you are over reacting. Most Filipino's know what to expect. Iloilo is no small town and she has friends. If she is concerned have her talk with the person she is staying with. I think your question is more for you then for her. Just my opinion.

I let my wife carry the money and she tells me what to do. ( Amen ) She is well versed in scams as they all grow up hearing tales from friends, family and relatives.

Torete has given you some excellent advice. The one I think is foremost is use common sense.

  6. Due to certain circumstances, my fiancee is leaving her family in Iloilo and she is staying with a friend. I have posted a few concerns about this before but now she is going to be there for X-months because not even have NOA2 yet. With all the dangers to woman there, people jumping into cabs and working with the drivers to rob people, people still rings off your fingers, what information can I provide to her to help her stay safe? Just stay locked up in doors? Is ti really worse off there than other places in Philippines?

Or just tell me to relax and not as bad as fresh posts of other peoples experiences there are.

I'd wager your fiancée has a pretty good handle on what crime is like already so she should just continue doing what she probably is already doing to ensure her personal safety.

IMHO, yes, don't wear rings of ANY sort as even cheap gold colored ones can be mistaken for expensive jewelry. Same goes with necklaces and earrings. Taking a taxi? Text the cab company name, vehicle license plate, and car number (if available) along with the phone number on the taxi to a family member or friend prior to getting into the cab. Tell the driver to lock all doors and don't get in if they're unwilling.

Pay attention to her surroundings and who's around her at all times. Don't go to areas she's unfamiliar with.

Crime is crime pretty all over the world. If she's not familiar with the city she moved on to from Iloilo, then only travel with a friend or family member.

I've traveled to Mindanao many, many times and simply practice good, common sense habits. Good luck.

** Saw your edit...Manila...metropolitan area...crime more pervasive, tell her just be more careful than she would in the hinterlands.

  7. She has been turned down 2X already in the past and so I am wondering if it is even worth trying or not? SHe is a Dr. has a job and they tell her that she is too pretty, young etc. and deny her the visa each time and the last time was 2 years ago. We have a K1 in process with NOA1 and are waiting for the NOA2 but instead of me going there all the time we would love for her to visit here as well prior.

I am thinking it would be really hard to get one with a K1 in process?

It will cost $160 to find out.

    Don't apply? Won't know.

Should she apply, let us know the outcome.

    Good luck.

  8. My guess? They're targeting the folks who look Muslimy. Men who are clearly of Middle Eastern descent and women who wear Hijabs.

And frankly, that should be concerning to everyone at the very least.

Yes, Muslamic looking. (Tongue in cheek)

It does beg the question though, what do men who are clearly of Middle Eastern descent look like? I know many of the stereotypes, but what are your thoughts?

  9. Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone had any comments as to what the outcome for K1 Visa Filers will be after this weeks events.

The woman who committed the horrible MURDERS came here on a K1 Visa. I'm sure the CO took extra consideration as to her age, and being of the correct child bearing years, cultural match and for sure her fiancee had the intent to marry her. I'm sure each and every one of their family members knew and supported this engagement when they took her cell phone at the embassy, or she probably didnt even carry one, The smart ones know how not to get caught in this system and get in evey time. (Some get in some of the time, but not all get in all of the time.) So the intnetion was to get married .as well as buy WEAPONS together in this country, The USA Sold this woman a GUN (Perhaps at a gun shop, perhaps at a gun show, perhaps an individual did, not the USA ) several guns! to kill innocent people. Innocent US Citizens, Way to go CO. (Yeah right.) ###### just got real...And I cannot think of a better example of how incompetent these CO's are. And the whole system. (CO's are the first line of defense...like it or leave it...and they're human and fallible, but still not at fault) This may put a freeze on K1 Visas all together,,,for us innocent people who want to marry our loved ones. Wondering how everyone is feeling about this. I would hope as angry as I am.

    Thanks for reading.

  10. Not really sure how you can compare handing out strip club flyers to handing out cards that are created with the sole purpose or insulting/harassing someone, but okay.

I am equally unsure how you go from the act of having someone who is making people feel uncomfortable and attacked investigated, to the act of censoring people's thoughts.

I'm not saying this is necessarily something the police should be spending a lot of time on, just that the inequities in your logic are a little more ridiculous than the fact that the police are concerned about an issue that is clearly hurting some people.

Also, this story isn't from America, you know that right? So i don't really see why you are so paranoid.

Just because the cards are being handed out doesn't mean one has to accept it now does it? You can follow that logic right? It's a pretty simple act walking by the person trying to hand them out and just go about your day.

Boo hoo...my widdle feelings are hurt. I'm a skinny minny so you best not hand out cards saying I am.

Yeah, the police are concerned about issues that are hurting some peoples feelings.

Yup, I can read...fat-shaming cards handed out on London tube. Nope, not paranoid. I guess the bobbies don't have anything better to do but to investigate someone's hurt feelings. Hail London.

Something gets reported to the Police then it has to be investigated.

Actually getting a prosecution is another matter. Even if they do find whoever did it then they'll likely just get a slapped wrist and told not to do it again.

Yeah, I hear you. Investigate on then...I suppose.

Those flyers aren't specifically given to you in order to offend though.

Seems a little bit presumptuous as to their intentions, but I disagree, and maybe they were meant to offend.

I personally find it troubling. I didn't read any threats in what they wrote...offensive if it were...or not.

Every single time I've been to Las Vegas and found myself walking from one casino to another, I was bombarded with flyers from people trying to get me to go to their strip club etc. I just walked by...I didn't take their paper.

Pretty soon, one's thoughts will be censored...and prosecuted.
