  1. Hello VJ friends,

What is the typical wait time from NOA2 to NVC case number for K1? The guide does not appear to be fullproof...I have heard for K1, the process is typically shorter than those on CR1. I have also heard from different NVC agents that can take 1 week or up to 8 weeks.

I am starting this posting to gather information on timeframe from NOA2 to NVC case number.

From what I hear from both the NVC and the DOS, the USCIS sends the cases in batches instead of on an individual basis (probably to save cost at the expense of further waiting times for individuals).

I am currently NOA2 July 2nd and NVC still has yet to receive my case.

I hope this post will help those of you who are in similar situation (which is basically all of us)

To help make more people aware and to facilitate this discussion, please do the following

    1) Post your NOA2 date and service center

    2) Post your latest news (when you received NVC case # or last time you called and they still don't have it)

This will give us all an idea on the next waiting period.

    Cheers!

WAS APPROVED ON 7=2=2013 Was going to start calling on monday. was transfered to tsc from vsc on 5-30-2013

  2. I'm just guessing it will be at least 3 weeks before you will receive a paper snail mail notice (because of the 4th of July holiday and weekends)... but if I were in your situation, I'd begin to call the NVC this Monday, the 15th. They will probably ask what your current case number is and when you received your NOA2, and perhaps some other identifiable information, and then they will either tell you that you need to wait longer or they will ask you what is it you wish to know? Hopefully they will ask you what you wish to know and that is when you "politely" ask if they can tell you your new case number... I only called them 2 times... first time they said, "wait longer", then I called back, a few days later, and I got our new case number... The paper notice arrived a week later... it's your choice to wait for the mail or to be "politley proactive". wink.png ... Good luck on your journey smile.png

I know I have it somewhere but do you know that number?

  3. This is strictly for K1 visas that were transferred to TSC..please do NOT comment if you did not go to TSC..we need to find out the first TSC batch that goes to NVC..please post when you get notice NVC has received your case...Thanks!!!

  7. Me and my husband decided that we don't want to be together anymore. We were married for almost 2 years now. I want to leave, what should my actions be from now on?

I want to leave as soon as possible and we never registered the marriage in my home country so if I leave now would he be able to go through the divorce procedure without me being here?

Thanks in advance for the answers! very sad for your situation seems like such a waste wished you could have worked it out but guess its beyond that best of luck

  8. we filed 1=9-2013 noa1 1-11-2013 transfered to tsc 5-29-2013. I WOULD LOOK ON MY CASE STATUS MAYBE 30 OR 40 TIMES A DAY. I WOULD GET ON VJ EVERY DAY MANY TIME AND LOOK FOR SOMEONE GETTING APPROVED AROUND MY SAME TIME. AND TIME AFTER TIME THERE WOULD ALWAYS BE SOMEONE GETTING APPROVED WHO HAD FILED AFTER WE HAD OR AT SAME TIME BUT NEVER US. I SAID TO MYSELF SELF JUST STOP CHECKING WEB SITE AND CHILL. AND JUST AS I SAID THAT MY FIANCE CALLS ME AT 100AM TO TELL ME WE HAD BEEN APPROVED AT 945PM ON 7-2-2013...160 DAYS ON TO PHASE 2 THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOU SUPPORT

  9. Given your list of things you can't/won't do, I don't believe there is a visa that covers what's left. There's no general purpose work visa that does not have employment sponsorship requirements.

Depending on where your partner lives (and whether his state allows same-sex marriage), the fiance and spousal visa options may now be open to you (because of DOMA overturn). See this article for a brief overview: http://www.policymic.com/articles/51481/doma-overturn-how-will-it-affect-gay-immigrants-and-foreigners

hope interview goes good for you fingers crossed

I understand people's frustrations with the system. And for the most part, I agree it should be more efficient. However, immigration isn't as clear cut as getting your driver's license (as someone referenced earlier). You don't take a test and if you pass the written test and then driving test, you get the license. Immigration is much more subjective. Officers undergo a lot of training to be able to distinguish qualified applicants from scam artists. And it's not a science, so mistakes are made daily on both sides (good people are denied while scammers get approved). It will never be a perfect system, especially since a decision has to be made from a few pieces of paperwork and a one-time 15 minute interview.

Volumes... I don't think we can imagine how many thousands and thousands of applications they get each year. I think the reason it take so long is that the volumes are tremendous and they are understaffed and overpaid. Federal employees (paper pushers) make a relatively high salary. They could hire 50% more people for the same money if their salaries weren't so high. If you can imagine that they collect $1000 for each green card applications and $400 for each citizenship application, etc. In addition to that, federal employees are for the most part not held accountable for their work. I know people who work at social security and there is no productivity standard nor is the work really scrutinized too closely. This is the reason cases drag on and things get lost, because they just don't care and aren't held responsible for said attitude.

As for delays or problems due to our own mistakes... we can't blame the government. If you overstay (and go out of status), don't blame the gov't fort arresting you. You broke the law. I know it's customary to try to put the blame on somebody else, but sometimes we gotta step up and accept it. If you make a mistake on a form and that delays the process by 6 months, I agree it should be more efficient, but it is what it is.

We have 2 choices, you can work with the system or don't bother (either go live in another country or forget foreign spouses). With all the applications that I/we have submitted, I have never thought about it to a point of driving myself crazy. I never checked daily if my case was touched. That seems like a lot of work. I am quite busy with work and don't have time to mess around with that. Maybe those of you who go crazy should focus more on your careers or find a hobby that will keep you occupied and not let your mind focus on immigration all

I agree with most of what you said but last line. You can have a career and still check your status several times a day esp when it get close and you are so excited like meClockWatch2.gif

  11. I come from a military family. My brother barely knew my dad growing up because he spent so much time in Iraq, and my mother was sent into severe depression due to his absence. So I understand the desire to protect that which you've fought for so hard, but KhunKazuri is right, even if his/her tone may have been a bit harsh. There is no benefit to mindless jingoism or the attitude that you can't say anything negative about your country. Protesting and making your fellow citizens aware of when things aren't going as they should is not only a right, but a responsibility. It's the reason this country exists and we are no longer colonies of the Crown.

This isn't a city mouse, country mouse thing. It's a matter of holding your country to the appropriate standard of compassion, and in doing so setting aside your differences and grudges to do what is right and just, and that has nothing to do with where you may or may not live.

Dude I dont even know what jingoism means. I never said anyone couldnt speak out againt their country thats crazy! as far as the country mouse thing you refer to was because he was making fun of my lack of education as compared to his vast knowledge of the world. this has got way out of control and will not answer anymore post about such matters

  12. I know that the interchange of ideas is always positive, but please don't turn this into an endless argument where everyone wants to be right. We are all or most of all in the same path. Please, more support and understanding and less ego

Nina and Erwin, I'm just starting with my process and I can feel your pain. I pray everything turns out good to you and you can reunite with your family as soon as possib

    YES i AGREE
