  1. Some good news - I was informed today that I got a job! I had the interview last week. It is for a teaching fellow position at the University of Virginia!!

Just hope I get the green card now. It would be kind of ironic if I don't!

WOW! That's super news! I'm really really tickled for you Kiki!

I don't think you need to worry about getting the card. But it stinks waiting doesn't it?

Thank you Rebecca! I am quite amazed actually. I feel very lucky - at one stage I felt in a "hole" and couldn't see an end to this all. The college is great and so are the staff in the science department. I am very excited - I'll be starting work next week! I am also terrifed! :P

I hope that you and Wes do hear something very soon. The waiting in limbo is dreadful. I can't believe I have been here 8 months already! My AOS was held up by my fingerprints which were "illegible". I got an RFE for that and had to obtain a local police certificate. I am kind of nervous as I was unsure what to send back exactly. I know they have received it, so the waiting begins again...

Keep us posted - let's hope you hear something positive back real soon!

  2. Scotty, I think it takes about 80 days to get the EAD. This seems to be the average from what I have seen. Mine took 84 days.

Sorry to hear of your long wait Rebecca - we are also a bit delayed at this AOS stage after everything else went really smoothly. My fingerprints were illegible so we got an RFE. I had to obtain a local police record.

Today I was touched...I am still a bit worried as I still am not sure if the Police Letter I sent from my local sheriff was exactly what they wanted in the RFE. Guess I'll find out soon! :(

  4. Just popping in to say "Hi"....lots happening! As you can see from my signature, I got an RFE - my fingerprints were illegible and twice got rejected!

I had to get a Police Certificate from my local sheriff to show I have no record. I am now waiting to hear back as I was not sure what exactly I had to provide...

I also had a job interview this week! Wish me luck! It is a fantastic career job (if I get it) so I'm pretty nervous...

    CONGRATS Purple Hibiscus!

  5. I got this email this evening from the USCIS. I think I understand it, but please could any one tell me if they got this or what you interpret it to mean...

    Thank you so much,

    Kiki :)

  7. Thank you so much for the replies.:yes:

I phoned USCIS again today and I spoke to an officer there who was very helpful. I explained in detail and she said that it is a stock letter normally sent to those applying for US citizenship but that it only applies to the time I have been in the USA.

I can only hope that is really what they want

I then phoned the local town police and asked, and they told me to go on Monday to the courthouse with picture ID and it should be possible to obtain this paper.

I just hope it wil be exactly what they want! I guess I won't really be sure until they receive it at CSC...

    Phew! :star:

  8. Thank you all for the replies so far...I will try and clarify this tomorrow by phoning the USCIS again.

According to the reciprocity list, and following on from what the US embassy in London told me before I got the K1 visa, I can only obtain police certificates from the UAE and Kuwait (where I have lived before) if I am physically present in those countries and resident.

Does anyone know how I go on about getting a "Certification of Good Conduct" from my local county sheriff here in the US and how long does it take?

Has anyone else ever had this particular RFE? :(

I'm so worried about this.... :crying:
