    The service center is Nebraska.

How long does it take to get the NVC case number after the USCIS approval?

We got approved a few months ago on a Thursday afternoon, received the NVC welcome email on Sunday night. So very quick! BTW, got approved by NVC less than 2 months after we submitted all documents.

Those of you VSC filers for April 2017 who have not yet received 10 year Green Card are officially  "Outside Normal Processing Time."

    https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/home

You can now officially file to inquire about the status of your case.

For those who have filed this 'Inquiry' before, what is the typical response and result?

I don't get it. I filed at the end of April 2017 to VSC. I was officially out of normal processing time like several months ago!!!!! Not now! Several months ago!

I filed my inquiry on a Friday and they responded that they were working on the inquiry on Monday and the Friday that week I received a mail stating the reason.

I waited about 2+ months and got my 10 year card a few months ago.

So I don't know why people are just outside normal processing time.

I check my status here https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov

Got you. I check that one and egov together. Mine didn't tell me the same stories! I use egov to submit inquiries and check processing time.I just got approved yesterday and status was from egov. Checked my account.uscis.dhs.gov yesterday and it still said they received my case. But today it got updated to say approved..But egov said card in production... Better to keep an eye on both. My case inquiry result never showed up on the dhs site account, but showed up in egov account.

whom to call? can you elaborate..im so losing my mind and nervous how long would it take

Go to your egov account. Set one up if you don't have it. Add in your case number and submit an inquiry. They normally work on it right away. Or call the USCIS number also available on egov.uscis.com. don't tell us you never checked your case status?!!

Typical that they take their time. I don't understand how they can put something in storage without reviewing it and making sure it can be placed there. I'm glad it was processed!

Similar thing happened to me with AOS but they forgot to clip together my previous case, so in order to approve my GC, they had to request a file from a different office. The officer told me it would take up to 30 days and if not, asked to come back with infopass. So not only I went to infopass, I also called Tier 2 and they got it together. It is true, if you don't call and make inquiries, they won't do it.

That was exactly what I learned during my AOS! Each step from biometric to combo card to the actual card!

For ROC, I was also told my case was transferred to local office, to NBC, or enroute to some other offices, these different answers were from online status, tier 2, and info pass!! Only when I inquired after being outside of normal processing time did I hear from VSC! And VSC eventually worked on it.

So, their status updates are not to be trusted :(

File N-400!!! 🙂  Did you find out what happened to your case? Did they really put it in storage?

Congratulations on finally having this resolved! 🙂

Thanks! Their responses to my 2 case inquiries both said that they found that my files were sent to an offset storage facility and they requested to transfer back to their office.

The asked me to wait 60 days for them to process. And it is now a week before the 60 day period. They really did take their time!!

  7. OMG, I have to share the news you all of you. After a year and almost 6 months with them moving my file into a storage facility without looking at it first, I'm approved (i assume).

This morning, I received a text saying my case was updated. Looked at the egov site, it says on 10/9/2018 new card is in production. Of course the my uscis account is not updated, and still says my case is received at local office.

But I think this means that my ROC is done. Now I'm debating if I should file N400 :)

And you can’t submit one of these inquiries until it is outside of normal processing is that correct?

That's correct. However, this system is not smart enough, even though it asks for the case number, one still needs to put in the receipt date...Not sure if they would look at your inquiry if you put in a different date.....Good luck. Hope that yours wouldn't be like mine that was sent to "offsite storage facility" the entire time.

  9. For any of you who is still waiting, let me share with you the response I got from my case inquiry!

This is absurd! Make sure to call, submit request, and do anything you can to push them.

Otherwise, your case may end up sleeping in a offsite storage facility eternally without being processed! And those tier 2 officers all had absolutely no clue, misinformed me about my case transferring to another service center!

I also got a "case received", last updated was Feb 26, 2018 like yours, and I just received the 18-month extension letter this Tuesday. However, I am a CSC filer and it looks like you're VSC.

I am VSC...Somehow I never really gotten any real updates on my case, which is suspicious and annoying. I got the "case received" update 5 times, and no email or text notification lol.

Hope we all get approved soon! Good luck :)

  11.  I was officially out of normal processing time as of yesterday. However, I tried to submit an inquiry today, egov website was saying inquiry may not be created because my case is still within normal processing time.

    I have a suspicion now:

On myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov site, my case status was updated 5 times. They are all "case received", last updated was Feb 28 2018! I'm afraid that USCIS's system is treating my case as filed in Feb 2018!!! And that could explain why I cannot submit an inquiry and why nothing updated in my account and I never receive anything regarding the 18 month extension!!

I'm going to call and complain on Monday first thing in the morning!
