We're in New Jersey. It looks like there's an option of applying based on your income. To confirm the income you'd need to submit paystubs / tax return. We don't have a tax return yet for my parent.

Hey All! Is Affordable Connectivity Program Benefit a part of public charge rule? My parent is a new low income immigrant. We signed her up for a internet connection and ISP told us about getinternet dot gov program. Thoughts if new immigrant can apply?

Yes, she does have a valid Schengen visa. Good news for us though is that Almaty post has accepted our case transfer request. 🎉 It will be much easier and cheaper for my mom to travel there.

Hi All! We're going through IR-5 case, just submitted DS-260. My mom lived in Ukraine for about 8 months in late 1970s. We added a Ukrainian address in DS-260 and now one of the civil documents required is a Police Certificate from Ukraine. Does anyone know how non citizen, non resident can get a Ukrainian Police Certificate? I found this service: https://vytiah.mvs.gov.ua/app/landing, but it looks like it is designed for citizens/residents. I also downloaded Diia app, but you gotta have a BankID or NFC to register.

NVC Immigrant Visa Process page, Step 10 Prepare for the Interview (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-10-prepare-for-the-interview.html) says: "You do not need to bring your Affidavit of Support or financial evidence you submitted to NVC." But Interview Checklist (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/BKK-Bishkek.html#pre_interview_checklist) says: Applicants who fall into any category listed in italics below should bring these additional documents: For family-based visa applications: The appropriate Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for each financial sponsor along with a photocopy of the sponsor’s IRS transcript or most recent U.S. federal income tax return, and any relevant W-2s. Looking for people with past experience.

Yeah, great question. At the time I submitted I-130 my mom lived in St-Petersburg, Russia but she immigrated to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 2022. She was born in Bishkek (Frunze at the time) so she applied to get a Kyrgyzstan passport, she has a temporary registration there ("временная регистрация") and she is renting an apartment. So we thought we had a good case to at least ask. She wouldn't mind traveling to Almaty or Tashkent but the smoothest option for us would be Bishkek because she literally can walk to the consulate the day of interview The reason I started this thread in the first place is a concerning review of Almaty post so trying to see how it compares to Bishkek.

Hey Crew! I'm looking for any feedback about Bishkek consulate. We will be potentially considering to transfer our IR5 case to Bishkek (we haven't been assigned a consulate yet). It looks like they are issuing about 5-7 IR5 visas a month (source: [deleted]).

Also I just read NVC timeframes page (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html) again and it states: Current case creation time frame: As of 13-Mar-23, we are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 1-Mar-23. That answers my question why I haven't received my welcome letter yet: they are about 2 weeks behind. For some reason I assumed that case creation is a super quick action, like a day or two.

Thank you for the info! I called them and there's an answering machine saying that they've suspended public inquiry telephone line. Just submitted a form with https://ceac.state.gov/IV, based on the current timeframe they should respond in about 6 days or so. Hopefully I will get a welcome email by then.

How long did folks need to wait for NVC welcome email? Our case was approved on March 6th, sent to Department of State of March 9th. Still waiting for the welcome email.
