Update: My hubby just paid the AOS Fee!
-
Awesome!!! I also tend to remember there was someone on the forum whose case was received on 1/29 got his/her case number and IIN last Friday!
BTW, congrats!!!! I will also be watching your progress and comparing timelines whatnot for the rest of our NVC journey!
Oh yeah! That was me!. They sent me an email with our Case Number and IIN. I called every night of last week and I was planning on call that Friday night, but I got the email first. I was surprised and happy, you should get yours this week!
-
No problem! and yeah, a letter explaining the situation sounds good to me. We're not done with NVC at all, just got the case number this week, it took 37 calendar days from the day NVC received our case. We already submitted DS-261 and now we're waiting for the bills to be invoiced and send the packets, which are almost ready to go. I hope we can have case complete this month to get an interview in May. We'll see!

DS-261 Submitted this morning

Update: I got an email from NVC like an hour ago. They sent me our NVC Case Number and Invoice ID Number. I was on skype with my hubby when I got the email. We're so excited

Hi there! A lot of people here say you can't file taxes as single when you're actually married, even if your spouse is not living in the US because the CO can take that as a "red flag" on the interview date. But, I know someone from Colombia (here in VJ), he filed as single and his wife didn't have any issues at the interview. She got her CR1 approved. Apparently COs don't take that as a red flag because they know taxes can be amended once the alien spouse arrives to the US. My husband filed single as well an we're not concerned about that, they just want to make sure he makes enough money to sponsor me. If NVC told you it's ok, you shouldn't worry about it. Your wife will be fine.

Yay! We finally got our NVC case receipt number in just under 30 business days! Our case was received by the NVC on January 27 and I honestly think this was the most stressful part of the immigration process so far. We still don't have a IIN yet, though. So I guess only half of the stress is gone.
Oh, that's good! We're two days away from your date, I hope we get ours soon!. And I agree with you, this is very stressful. I'm calling every night

Interview in Kiev next Wednesday.... w00t!!
Wow, that was really fast! Congratulations and good luck with your interview

quick question......the DS-261 is not available until the NVC assigns a number to my case, right? Or rather, it just can't be sent in to NVC without the new number?
You need NVC Case Number and Invoice ID Number for everything you're going to submit or pay at NVC. You can't do anything till you get both numbers besides collect all the documents you need to send in.

Another call, no case number yet. NVC got our case on Jan 29, they keep saying to wait 30 business days. I guess that's how it's going to be
-
I just called NVC, not happy, still waiting to get my case number. The rep. said I should call back in about two weeks... Huh really?
-
Hi all,
I apologize if this has been answered somewhere else but I have been searching and can't find my answer!
If NVC has our case (no # yet) is it cool for my husband to get his Police Certificate now? Or should we wait until the case number? Medical should wait until the interview is scheduled right?
Thanks for the help, we just want to make this a speedy process!!
You need to find out for how long the PC is going to be good. I don't know about UK, but in our case my husband has all my civil documents ready to go, including my PC which is good for one year and we can get it online.

Just called NVC, got a good news - case complete
Thank u everyone for all the feedbacks
Those are great news! Congrats!!

I just called NVC, no case number yet. All about time...

I called NVC today, still no case number. The rep. was nice as always but he said we have to wait 20 to 30 business day. I guess I'm calling back next friday, or before lol just in case
Dear Saylin would you add us to the spreadsheet please?. Thank you very much

I called to the NVC today to ask about my I-129F approved petition. The rep. told me they have it and they're going to make a decision whether to send it to the embassy in Bogota or not. I told her we would like to go with that one and asked her if we can request that, but she said we can't, it's up to them. I really hope they send it to my consulate I don't want to spend 4 or more months waiting in this process. I miss my husband so much
I've read some people here are in the same boat, how are you guys doing with the k3 visa process? Any updates please?.
-
Hello everyone! I'm checking in too
Many thanks to Saylin for all the helpful information

wish you hear a good news soon .
Thank you

Just got the NOA2 for my 130 and 129F on Saturday. The 129F was sent to the consulate. I'm getting more and more excited. The notice date for both was January 13, 2014.
It's really nice that they're working on K3 visas too. I hope they send ours to the consulate this week

Congrats!!!
We got approved today, finally!!!
We are regular applicants, no expedites or DCF. We did get an RFE on Dec 18 but replied quickly.
Transferred to CSC from NBC.
Congratulations!!

I see that they approved both your I130 as well as your I129. That is great! Congratulations!!
We also filed both an I130 as well as an I129. Our I130 has been approved December 13 and a week later we received a hard copy mail that our I129 has been cancelled because the I130 had now been approved. Which seemed pretty pointless to me because our lawyer says it is still 4 to 5 months from now before the final consulate interview and based on the I129 I at least could have stayed in the US until this time. Very inconsistent that they grant one application and cancel the other...
Thank you!
Yes, they approved them both at the same time. But I think someone from April got a message last week or so, saying that NVC sent the approved I-129F to the consulate before paying the fees for the I-130, (she/he didn't know what to do), so I don't what's going to happen with mine.

So happy for you....thanks for sharing your story and your faith...
Thank you!
Spouse Visa Question (IR1 or CR1)
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures

You can file I-130 petition now, it doesn't matter if you're living in the US or in Colombia. Once the I-130 gets approved (6 to 9 months or more for the approval), it goes to the NVC.
At the NVC stage (3-4 months) you'll need to prove that you're going to establish residency in the US (you'll have to have a job and a place to live there). Also, you will have to file and Affidavit of Support (AOS), which implies to send the last three years of tax transcripts, pay stubs and a letter from employment showing how much money you would be making by then. If you didn't make 125% or above the poverty line the past three years and/or you would not be making 125% or above, then you're going to need a joint sponsor.
Once you're done with the NVC, your wife would be scheduled an interview appointment in Bogota. If she gets approved that day, she will be granted an IR-1 visa (because you would be married for more than two years by that time). Once your wife gets to the US, a 10 years Green Card will be issued and will be sent to your wife by mail.
I recommend you do some research here in VJ, since there is a lot of valuable information that can help you to understand the process, therefore avoiding making mistakes.
Here is the first guide you need to read to start the process:

Good luck with your journey!
