  1. congratulation on your visa.

Can you please share with us what kinds of question CO asked you?

    congrats again.

Here are the questions I was asked. I'll give my answers as well in case anyone is interested in those:

    How did you meet Adam?

We met in an online game called IMVU.

And how long ago was that?

Around 7 years ago now, so 2006

When did you first meet him in person?

    In July 2010

    And where was that?

In London, he flew into Heathrow airport

How long did you spend together that first visit?

    1 month

What's the longest time you've spent together during a holiday?

We usually spend one month together every time we visit so 4-5 weeks

How do you plan on supporting yourself when you get to America?

I have my own personal savings to the total of just over £5,000 so I'm hoping that can pay for all the essentials but my fiance and his mother have also agreed that they would support me- his mother is letting me stay in her house with them and she buys the groceries. Of course once I'm able I'll get a job and my earnings will go towards saving for a place of our own.

When do you plan on getting married?

We've planned to get married in the first week of September. We know that we have a 90 day time limit and the first week of September is the most convenient for us because it allows lots of planning time after I arrive.

Have you decided on where you're getting married yet?

Yeah there's a really nice place called the Hyeholde Restaurant that I visited during one of my visits, we decided we want to get married there.

Why did you choose that venue?

I chose it because it is an English style building- the designer had a fascination with tudor style architecture so we thought it would be really nice if we could have the building reflect my English heritage when we get married.

Have you ever applied for a visa before?

    No.

So this is your first time?

    Yes it is!

  2. Wonderful news! Love to see london interviews going well!!! Oooh what a magic feeling! May I ask, how long from medical to interview did you wait? Xx

    Medical : 18/04/13

    Interview: 24/06/13

    So just 2 months smile.png

Which seems a long time after you've just had your medical... and I guess it is.. it wasn't easy for me, I pretty much cried every day cause I'm a baby but ... Its like how women describe giving birth... all the pain just magically goes away once you're handed your baby-- as in all the pain goes away once you're told you've been approved! laughing.gif

  3. Congratulations! I'm just beginning this process so it's nice to read about someone who made it to the other side! smile.png The only thing I'm worried about at the moment is the affidavit because, like in your situation, I am a college student and I don't make enough. While my mom will be supporting us for the time being, I don't know how comfortable she'll be giving away all that documentation and letting him bring it to another country with so much personal information on it...

Make sure you make copies of all the documentation. So before she sends them, she'll have copies to refer to. She needs to understand that the US Embassy respects your personal details and doesn't intend to interfere with them whatsoever, they only give them a quick glance to make sure they support your statements and that's all they need. If anything does happen she is free to report it.

This personal information is essential to you being approved for a visa so that's something you need to explain to her. Make sure also that you keep all of this stuff safe in a folder/filing cabinet or something so it can't get lost and is well protected whilst it's in your hands.

  4. Congrats!!!!!!

Please can someone guide me on where to go after NOA2 is received?

What are the steps? Found some posts on VJ but they take me round in circles and I am not sure what the next step is for us...any help appreciated !

Take a look at the "Guides" section, those are really helpful.

Or tell me specifically at what stage you are right now and what it is exactly that you don't understand, I'll see if I can help ya smile.png

(What do you have already? Do you have the letter from the Embassy telling you the forms you need to send in yet?)

  5. Hey, I'm looking at interviewing soon (in Canada though). Let me ask you something: Did they ask you to see financial evidence of your being able to support yourself, or did they look for an Affadavit of support? I ask because I have more than enough money to support myself for like, a looooong time.

They asked for my Affidavit (in the first interview) and then they asked "do you have any supporting documentation to use as evidence?" so I gave in the tax returns, bank statements, pay slips and the letter from my Co-sponsor's workplace. They didn't want to see any of my fiance's stuff cause he doesn't earn enough money (he's still in college with just a little part-time job on the side), they just wanted the Co-sponsor's stuff. I'd brought evidence with me for both so I was well prepared for that.

And then in the second part of the interview, the officer asked "how do you plan on supporting yourself whilst in the USA", so I answered "well I have my own savings to the total of just over £5,000 and Adam's mum has agreed to be my co-sponsor and provide me with living space and other essential things until me and Adam are able to find our own place and support ourselves"

It's best to have all the right evidence so that they can't question you, bring tax returns, IRS forms, bank statements, a letter from the bank, pay slips and letters from the sponsor's workplace stating annual income, job position, how long they have worked there & what their hours are.

Think of it as a court case almost- make your case bulletproof by having enough evidence to support your statements at the time of the interview.

  6. Well.. I'd take her with a pinch of salt. She'll have booked it for Friday, but couriers are humans and make mistakes / get lost / fail to deliver, so give yourself a couple more days just to be clear. smile.png

Getting there for the independence day will be great! Lots of parties and fireworks you can hijack to celebrate. smile.png

Lets hope the delivery goes as smoothly as my interview did!

And of course, I intend on stealing all the celebrations for myself laughing.gif

It will be a celebration of my independence from the UK as well as America's biggrin.png

Adam says he's gunna figure out where the best spot is to see all the fireworks and we'll go there to celebrate together wub.png

  7. So, judging by all the rest of your organisation... I'm guessing you've already got your suitcases packed (and probably re-packed 3 times)? tongue.png

You are spot on! They're all packed and ready to go apart from a few items of clothing that I'm still wearing, but they will only take a few seconds to pop in before I go.

I asked the Courier woman "what day exactly can I expect to receive my visa?" and she looked at me with a smile and said confidently "Friday!" so I'm guessing that's a definite right? I'm still not booking my flight until I have everything back. I'm planning on leaving on the 3rd so I can be there to celebrate independence day! What a way to make an entry back home laughing.gif

Wonderful to see that everything went smoothly!

Thank you! I couldn't have wished for a better interview! luv.gif

  8. Interview went really smoothly!
They didn't even ask to see any of my evidence (apart from the financial stuff)
I had everything they asked for and answered all their questions confidently and then the magic words were spoken

"Ok Joanne I see no problems here, I'm glad to tell you your visa has been approved, congratulations!"

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

  9. Eating my breakfast at 3.42am GMT. Been chatting with Adam since I got up at 2am, he's just as nervous as I am.
Managed to get 2 hours sleep even though I was laying there for 6 hours..

I have to leave the house in about 35 minutes to walk into town to catch the coach to London (leaving 4.50am)

Everything is packed so I am ready as ever. Wish me luck!

You'll be hearing from me again with the news in about 13 hours give or take a few!

  10. The K-1 is technically a Non-immigrant visa since AOS is required and receipt of the green card is conditional upon getting married within 3 months of entry to the US.

Ok thanks for clearing that up smile.png

Now to get some sleep as I have to be up and out the door at 4.20am to catch the coach to London dead.gif

  11. Just another quick question before my interview tomorrow (probably just worrying over nothing again)

My receipt says "It is valid only for submitting a nonimmigrant visa application for the above named applicant"

nonimmigrant visa application? I paid the right fee didn't I?

I paid $240,00 and it says MACHINE READABLE VISA APPLICATION FEE RECEIPT at the top.
