CR-1 takes as long to get as the I-130 because it is the I-130. CR-1 is the name of the visa that is chased after when you file the I-130.

I would never send anything to the Philippines via USPS. USPS hands over the package to PhilPost (Philippines USPS counterpart) which is an organization that's known for being extremely unreliable. I've sent a few things (luckily nothing important) in the past using USPS and once it reached PhilPost it never reached my wife.
I recommend using LBC, a popular courier based in the Philippines. I'm not sure the availability in your area but we have a few offices here in California. I used them recently to send my wife some documents - they arrived in her hands in three days. Not bad for a service that cost $20.00.

Is he a mama´s boy or something like that??? I´m so sorry for you. How are you and the kids??? Please, take care of your kids and keep them away from your husband´s family. You never know what can happened...

No offense but that is such a messed up situation. I feel bad for the wife. You better re-think what you're doing.

Sorry this might sound rude but if he was with this other girl for 2 years and married her and then he is in a relationship with you for a few months...you need to look at the whole picture....dont you think when they first met they really connected they wanted to be together forever...this is what happens when you first fall in love...But the thing about love is you dont just discard it for the next hot thing on the block....Love is hard and time consuming....I know It will be a hassle legally if he divorces but if its meant to be anything is possible....Just keep in mind what he is doing to his wife put yourself in her shoes how would you feel if he was cheating on you because if he is cheating on her its just a matter of time and you will be the next wife in line for a divorce... just sayin

    ^This!
I was waiting for someone to address the elephant in the room.
#1 He was already involved with someone else
    #2 He married HER
Sorry if that sounds harsh but I feel horrible for the wife.
Have you even met IRL or is this an online thing?

You are correct. There is no (good) way for you two to be together. Let his relationship with his wife play out, and don't get involved. Forget the legal issues. No matter what they are, they can be handled 99.5% of the time. If you were meant to be together, it will happen in time. But you can't begin a successful relationship by destroying one that came before it.

Natsukiii reacted to Wilton23 in Immigration Attorneys - Advice?
Hi there... Just wondering if anyone has any experience using an immigration attorney to help them with either the K-1 or CR-1 process? I am American but also have EU citizenship, I've been living and working in Europe for nearly three years with my British fiance and I am struggling to navigate the best way to move us both to the US. There are a few different routes, a dozen obstacles and unsurities, and I was wondering if anyone has used the help of a lawyer and would recommend it? Thanks.

No problem! Thank you as well!
Well, I reviewed the forms and read the guides on this website. Self-filing seems easy, however, the repercussions of making an error can delay the petition. My wife and I can't afford a delay as our goal is to get her here by Christmas.
So basically, I hired an attorney (one that has experience filing CR-1 visa for his wife) to make sure that every form is completed correctly and in an organized manner. Our attorney is also available for any questions or concerns. What's great about our attorney is that he answers his own phone and is available 24/7. This helps alleviate a lot of the stress and anxiety my wife and I have with the whole petition process.

Thanks emac. I wish you good luck too. I have to ask: why did you decide to go with an attorney and not file yourself?

I am in the same boat as you OP. My wife is a Filipino citizen and I am a Filipino-American. We are about to submit our paperwork through our attorney and are hoping that everything gets approved in time for Christmas. My attorney says that the earliest possible time frame would be 4-5 months. However, most petitions take 6-8 months assuming everything is in order and the workload of your service center is not backed up. Keep us updated - I wish you and your wife the best of luck!

Sorry to hear that. I wish you the best and hope things work out well for you, but maybe it's good this happened now rather than once you're married and in the US.

This process does try one's patience but, so does marriage from time to time.I hope things work out for you but, maybe it's better you found out this quality, or lack thereof, before you were with him in the U.S.
