  1. Sorry guys, my internet was down and I 'refuse' to do a lot of internet stuff on my phone.

My mom got here safely, after flight delays, them taking her home because of the delays and forgot to pick her back up, so she missed the original flight.  Anyway we got an early flight out the next day.

POE - I got her wheelchair assistance, because she has a bad back and didn't want her to go through too much hassle with extra bags etc.  She entered the country at Fort Lauderdale airport.  They wheeled her directly downstairs, immigration asked her for her paperwork.  They examined it.  Told her "welcome to America".  That was that.  Absolutely no questions, no interrogation.

    Good luck to us all!!!

I just have a question, why IR5 has only 1 year permission to reside in the US? I am confused!

    Nice going behelle.

That one year stamp limit is a way to push you to go get your actual greencard, it doesn't mean your status changes.  After 1 year without acquiring the actual card, you would no longer have proof of residency (not a good idea).

US Embassy received the police clearance last Wednesday. On Friday I received an email from them asking for my husband's affidavit of support and W-2s. I was sooooooooooooo upset! I called them right away and explained that they requested the same documents a month before my mom's interview, so my mom has already submitted those documents when she was interviewed at the embassy. I am almost there but I'm just getting so anxious with all these. It's frustrating because I thought the next email I'm receiving from them was that my mom's passport is ready. Since it was the embassy's call center I spoke with, they don't really know what's going on and why they are requesting it again so the only thing they can do is to send a report to the embassy directly and all I can do now is sit and wait for their reply in 1-2 business days (which of course will be next Thursday or Friday). Ugh!!!!

I totally understand your frustration, because they had taken mom's documents when she went on her original interview date and I was just praying that they kept them safe and remembered that they had taken them.

Do you have a direct email for your embassy?  I used to email mine and they answered promptly, so maybe try and email them to confirm that they do have the documents and it's not just someone making a retro-request.  Almost over, hang in there.

  4. The CD is a part of your migrating packet so you take it with you for POE to US.  Don't pack it in your checked luggage.   Not needed for interview, they already have the results in another format.

Good morning guys! Quick update on my mom's petition:

After exactly 4 weeks, Japanese Embassy called and informed her that her police clearance is ready for pick up! :) Tomorrow first thing in the morning, she's picking it up and sending it via 2GO to the US Embassy. Hopefully it won't take long to get her visa especially with Christmas coming soon. I am very excited to see and be with her again! :)

Any word if the documents got to the embassy?

  6. Hey guys, a quick update to let you know my mom collected her package today.....whooopie!!!

We double checked her visa, making sure everything is spelt correctly etc.

I paid immigrant fee online and got the confirmation email.  Also I was able to get an update immediately on USCIS case status using the receipt case #IOE.........:

  7. Whoot whoot!!!!!! visa is NOW.............................

Just got an email from US DOS system advising that document was handed over to the courier service  and a tracking number was generated.  It stated that it may take up to 24 hours after the notice for tracking information to be available (who waits.....nobody...LOL).  I immediately plugged in the tracking number and voila!!!!

........READY to be collected by recipient as requested.

    Thank God!!!!!!

Thank you. I received the email from the NVC. They set my parents interview on the 30th of January.

I'm still a bit confused though. NVC scheduled the appointments for my parents. I am aware that my parents need to get their medical done atleast 2 weeks before the interview.  The letter also talks about registering for the courier, but I am at lost on how to do that.

You should schedule your medical ASAP.  You don't want to delay this and end up with a date too close to interview.

Registering with your courier service http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-iv-documentdelivery.asp.

You can also go on https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html, a host of information is there.  Just browse around.  Good luck.

Great (and I read that the status changed to 'issued')!

    Congrats!

My mom has her interview on 1/30. What did they ask?

She visited often on ESTA in the last couple of years since my dad passed away. She will actually visit again (hopefully last time as a tourist) from 1/1 to 1/15. She never stayed for more than 4 weeks at a time (usually it's 2 weeks or even less).

    Thanks

    Thanks Italian.

Questions they asked were mainly for verification:  Who filed for you, what's your name. how many children do you have, do I (petitioner) have any children living with me, is the USA the only place you've traveled to, have you ever overstayed your visa?  That was basically it.

Your mom should be fine.  My mom comes here all the time but not for long either.

    Good luck to us all!!!

wow, I just posted about waiting and I just got an email NVC received and provided a case number. I will register an agent.

    Good for you.

There was once a few years back a stretch of (it's so funny),  ranting; that whenever someone ranted, USCIS responded like the same day or a few days later.  It was so bizzare!!!!  It worked for me also LOL...hey, doesn't hurt.  Every now and then a string of rants results in responses.  Don't ask me!!!! LOL

Congratulations @Caramel Swirl! what does AP status mean? So excited for you and your mom!

Administrative Processing (AP) most if not all applicants go through that, final check and balance.  Sometimes it doesn't show on your updates.  You can be in AP mode for 1 day or months and months and months (there are some horror stories out there).  I'm praying my mom is just routine for a couple days.

    Good luck to us all!!!!

Do you mind telling me the processes that took place after the submission of Ds260? I have submitted all the documents and DS 260 on the 28th of November .what can we expect next ? I know it takes full 11 weeks for them to review all the documents. Do I need to call them in between ?

    Thanks!!

After DS260 it takes roughly 11 weeks to get a feedback that your case was reviewed and in line for interview.  I got that email maybe week 7-8.   But...I had gotten that information before the email, cause I called; yes...bug them politely.  I would say every two weeks.  Then they sent the actual interview date maybe a week after being in queue, remember though that dates are tied to specific embassies, some are quick, some not.

    Good luck to us all!!!

  14. My mom's interview went well today.  They asked her generic questions just to verify the information on her documents eg. name, who filed for you, did you ever overstay your visa?    Told her they will call and say when to collect her passport at DHL.

I checked the CEAC site and her status was updated today to AP (which is the norm).  Hopefully, it won't stay in AP for but a few days, cause I would love for her to be here before 2018.

    Good luck to us all!!!

Question guys, Do I call the embassy overseas to set an appointment or do they do that? I just got an email today that my parents in queue for visa interview.  Also can my parents do their medical already or do we have to wait?

NVC will communicate with the embassy to schedule your appointment and transfer your packet to them.    Generally you will need that interview letter, but some people have had success in doing their medical appointment/actual medical with just their case number.  Get in touch with your hospital/immigration doctor see if this is possible.  Word of caution though, be mindful that medicals have expiration dates for immigration purpose, so I would suggest you wait for an interview date.

Hello, I'm petitioning both of my parents, I just have a question and hopefully those who knows maybe they can comment that will be very helpful and appreciated. So my question is once I get the case number is it possible for my parents to do advance medical exam showing the case number and NOA2? The reason I'm asking is after all reading about sputum it scares me and  my parents are from down south Philippines, so they have to travel to Manila. Thank you everyone! hope to hear from some of you.

Nope.  Got to follow the process.  You need your interview schedule letter to show for most countries.  Plus, if you should do the medical now, just for instance, the timeline between your case number and time for interview could extend into an expired medical result.  It might make sense to you to save time and have it done now but there is logics in the process.

My mom had to do the sputum test, which set us back 2 months, but they just came back ok.   Hang in there.

    Good luck to us all!!!
