  1. Ok, so from what it looks like, a lot of us adjusting from the K1 visa are waiting for interview notices. I have read forums in and out and studied the AOS process quite a bit. From what I understand, people adjusting from a K1 visa don't always get an interview scheduled. If suspicion is raised or there are concerns about the AOS then an interview is scheduled otherwise the AOS is approved and the GC is sent to the beneficiary. Upon removal of conditions an interview is conducted. I think a lot of us adjusting from K1 visa are stuck waiting because of this. So the wait is a good thing and not necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people prefer to get the interview notice only because GC is generated a lot faster if you are interviewed than if you are just simply approved. If Employment Auth and Advance Parole were requested upon filing I-485 then waiting for GC shouldn't be a problem. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    Thanks for the input espared12.. it's just the "waiting period" -- I don't like waiting hahaha! But yeah, I think you're right.. 2 of my friends from K1 visa did not get an interview.. they said they just received their green cards..

  2. When you reach your POE, you don't have anything to give to the officer except that sealed

    brown envelope that the embassy will give you along with your passport. They will not get your birth certificate at the time of entry, But, you need to bring at least the NSO birth

    certificate as many copies as you want, as you might need it while here in US when applying, etc, etc.. It would be a nice idea to bring it with you already, though you can order it

    online when you're here in US already, but will cost you more $$$

    guidance and counseling form can be filled out at CFO..

  3. Requirements for Attendance to Guidance and Counseling Program

    1.Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;

    2.Duly completed guidance and counseling form;

    3.If married, original and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office, or Local Civil Registry Offices; or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate (if married abroad)

    4.Other documents as may be required by the counselors; and

    5.Payment of P400.00 counseling fee.

    Requirements for Registration

    1.Original and photocopy of Passport;

    2.Original and photocopy of visa

    3.Original and photocopy of Immigrant Data Summary for US-bound emigrants (except for K visa holders);

    4.Original CFO guidance and counseling certificate;

    5.Duly completed emigrant registration form; and

    6.Payment of the authorized registration fee.

    *** For K1 visa, I suggest you bring your original CENOMAR, and some pictures of you two together (my husband was asked for that), and make sure you know your fiancé's bio info,

    especially mothers maiden name, etc.. (he was asked for that as well). My husband just brought everything LOL and he was fine ***

    Good Luck!

  4. SLEC is located at 1177 J. Bocobo Street, Ermita, Manila. They can be reached by telephone at (+63 2)521-0020, (+63 2)521-8647.

    SLEC is open from Mondays to Fridays, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is best to arrive for your medical examination between 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Applicants are served on a first come first served basis, no appointment necessary.

  5. Who told you the visa validity tied to the date of medical exam? if you did medical exam one month before interview the the validity of the visa start from the date of your medical exam?. I think you have wrong information here. Please clarify them or correct. The visa is valid 6 months since the day of issue, not the day of medical exam.

    In some countries medical exam valid for 6 months and some is valid 1 year. This is up to USA and they decide about it.

    Thanks

    Yes, because the medical exam is only valid for so long.. this was written on my husbands instruction letter that was mailed to him after we got approved (NOA2).. Mind you, this is in PI, am not sure with the other countries how they do it.. Visa validity is normally valid for 6 months from the date of issuance, but then again, it is limited with the medicals.. I know, we are not the only ones that has visa validity of less than 6 months (if you count it from issuance date), and that is because, it was tied to the date of the medicals.. If you look at my timeline, my husbands 1st medical date is October 24, 2013; Then Visa was issued - November 21, 2013; and Expiration date is April 24, 2014 (exactly 6 months from the date of his medicals)

  6. Yes, I recommend you keep them especially the originals, coz you never know, you might need them again in the future.. example is a copy of NOA2 for adjustment of status.. For me, I kept everything since I started the K1 process until now with AOS.. I organized them in separate binders like K1 binder and AOS binder in that way it's easy for me to find the papers if I need them.. Still up to you..

  7. Am not sure if it is the same process as in the Philippines (USEM Manila), you might wanna check on your country specifics.. Anyway, in PI, as soon as we get our case number, the beneficiary can do his/her medicals.. I emailed NVC at that time to give me a copy of the case number and I emailed it to my husband to show it to them along with a copy of our NOA2.. I believe medicals should be done at least 1 week before the scheduled interview, the earlier the better, to give them enough time to send all ur info to the embassy.. But remember, that visa validity is tied to the date when you took your medicals and not when it was issued..

    Good Luck!

  8. Last Year October, my husband took his medical at St Lukes even without the Interview Appt letter on hand (and we haven't really scheduled one yet at that time coz there were no slots.) Once I got the MNL case number thru phone, I emailed NVC to have them email me a copy of it showing the MNL case number.. then I just forwarded it to my husband, he printed it and showed it to SLEC.. along with his NOA2 copy.. had no problems.. follow hank_ link coz that's what I followed and it was great.. never had problems.. Luckily, the next week after his medicals, there were open slots and so we had his interview scheduled with no problems.. We got the earliest date we could find.. Although, you gotta remember, like what they said here, visa validity is tied with the date of ur medicals and not the date of visa issuance.. If you wanna take chances, that's up to you.. Depending on how ready you are and how complete your papers/requirements are.. Or you can wait for another week or two and keep checking for open slots.. sometimes, there maybe some cancellations too.. Don't worry, am sure there will be open slots pretty soon.. :)

    Good Luck!

  9. I'm sure some local offices are different than others, but all we did was show our letter and ID's to get through security, Then the guy who was working in the biometrics office came out and double checked ID and the appointment letter, gave my wife a form to fill out. After we finished, he came and collected the form, took her inside and they did the biometrics and were back out a few minutes later. So, we didn't need anything extra when we went.

    Thanks! :) We brought our marriage certificate just in case but they didn't ask for it.. Just his passport and the appt letter.. Finally done with his biometrics today.. with a total of 5 hours drive and 1 hour wait.. lol.. but so glad it's done..

    If you filed in your married name you'll need your marriage certificate as proof of name change

    I haven't changed my last name yet, am waiting until all this is done.. Anyway, I think it doesn't matter coz my husband is the beneficiary so his last name won't change.. so glad.. less complications.. lol

  10. Hows everyone doing? Im going crazy here, they received my packet at the chicago lockbox on the 14th but havent heard anything yet ???

    Mine took 6 days before they notified me and it was like Sunday at 1 am when they emailed me (weird). you'll hear from them soon.. I sent my husbands last april 15.. had it express overnight, so it was received april 17.. but we did not get the email notifications until this april 21.. all 3 for aos, ead, and ap..

    Good Luck!

  11. Check with your State. In Texas, we got our marriage license at the county clerk. We presented ID and paid like $71.. got the marriage license right away, but it has a 72-hr waiting period before you can use it.. it's good for 30 days.. After getting the license, we went straight to the courthouse, handed them the license and set up the date for the wedding. Pretty easy! :thumbs:

    and oh! no witnesses required here..

    Good Luck!

  12. If $89k is the current annual income (the total amount of all wages, salaries, and tips--the amount before any deductions or adjustments) noted on your tax return, then use that figure. That way you have the Form(s) W-2, 1099, interest income/capital gains statements, etc, to substantiate that figure.

    Thanks for the immediate reply! $89K is the adjusted gross income/total income on my 1040, if from wages,salaries,tips, it was $79K only; the other $10k was from my 401K that I got when my resigned from my previous job.. Is it safe to write $89K still? I got W2, 6 months paystubs and 1099-R form..

    I would put for current employment, base salary + bonus.

    You have to be able to prove hat income you currently have, and bonuses are not guaranteed and not provable. Put the base salary, and if it feels weird, just add "+ bonus" to your figure to explain the additions on last year's taxes.

    thanks! the only reason why am doubting putting my base income from my employment letter is because it's way too low compared to my past years income.. well, probably because it's only coming from my full-time job, but the employment letter and stubs would be the only proof of that.. my other PRN job is not included there yet, since they can't project how much I really make every year since it depends, thus making it only 59k.. With the ITR amount, I made 89k, since full-time and PRN job is already included.. I don't want them to think that my income fluctuates, you know.. coz if I compare it to my 2012 and 2011 ITR, 59k is way different from 90k.. what do u think?

    My wife used the amount on her tax transcript

    Thanks! so how did it go? did she use the adjusted gross income?

    Oh OK!!! You can used the job with 59k. What is your family size? If you can use job one to meet the income requirement, there is no need to include job two. Just include pay stubs and employment letter from job one. If job one meets the income requirement then you should be good

    Thanks again! family size is only 2..

  13. Put what is written on your employment letter. Include at least two to three months pay stubs to proof it!!! Hope this helps. Also, how much do you make an hour and are you working full time as well?

    Thanks!

    Yes, am full-time.. I got 2 jobs.. One full-time which has my base annual income (without differentials, overtime pay, etc) of > $59k based on my employment letter.. 2nd job is PRN/as needed, which is really hard to project annual income coz it depends if I work or not, so HR didn't write any annual income on my employment letter, just my rate per hour.. but with these 2, I made like $89k this 2013 ITR.. so am confused which one to use.. :wacko:
